1. but still we dont have an alternative choice
Avi ,   Israel   (09.20.10)
The Chevra Kadisha have a monopoly on funerals , burials and can charge what ever outrageous fee they like safely knowing people do not have a choice here in Israel when it comes to burying a loved one or a persons direct wishes. Naturally they oppose private cemetries and heaven forbid should a person desire to be cremated.

They also bury poor people, without money.
3. Chevra Kadisha don't take vacation but they have less
(09.20.10)
burials when doctors strike...
4. What's next?
Baruch ,   Marin County, CA   (09.20.10)
What's next, live feeds from inside the grave - just to make sure moshiach hasn't come yet? This whole obsession over technology is bordering on the occult, IMHO.
5. #1 Avi, you don't have to be buried in Israel.
(09.20.10)
You can have your body shipped to China or Japan and have them throw it into the Pacific Ocean.
6. Discusting!!!
Gail ,   Israel   (09.20.10)
I am very tech minded and do all my own IT work and web sites but this takes the cake! A burial needs to be respected not watched on line. No one in their time of grief wants to be filmed. Isn't it bad enough we are being buried in cement walls and floors now we have the Chevra Kadisha trying to bring tech. to death lol unbelievable...directions to the grave is a good idea but what happens if there are 5 Moshe Cohen's? Just a funny thought how about digital grave stones you can go vist the grave and have the grave stone show you pictures and talk to you lol..some times tech. is not good ...certain things need to be left the way G-D intended.

There are no cremations in Israel Avi. Cremation is against our religion.
9. #8 YOUR RELIGION ?
Avi ,   Israel   (09.21.10)
Ahhh but i am not religious and do not live by religious rules. So why are we not given a choice? This is a democratic country still isnt it

Birdi ,   Israel   (09.21.10)
Avi, its got nothing to do with which religion I practise. Its the law of the land. Remember its written, "from dust to dust."

Avi ,after your death you will,(religious or not) be happy that you are not cremated;part of your soul will rest peacefully near your body, and for the greatest part (,if you behave) your soul, which is eternal, will have a nice place in heaven. If you are cremated, where is your soul ,the part that stays on earth, going to rest? Now,take the time to think about the following:A human being is a soul with a body and not the contrary.(Without his soul he is nothing better than a robot). It is worth listening more to one s soul, and a little less to one s body,in order to have a meaningful, happy, joyful and exciting life. Give it a try.Good luck.
12. IF we don't own our bodies...
Ben ,   Chutzlaaretz   (09.21.10)
As A Jew, I won't be cremated, that is my faith. Avi is right though, in that we as a society should not impose our beliefs upon him. If people wish to be cremated, they should be able to. People in Israel Pierce and Tattoo and those are contrary to our faith and yet we wouldn't dare try to keep adults from doing that, but somehow in death we no longer respect thier most personal of prperties, their bodies!

Without soul he is not better as a robot , you wrote . What about those "automats" or robots who "believe" , without thinking , because their parents , grandparents and so did it ? Do those robots have a "soul" ? And what if someone thinks that a "soul" does NOT exist ? That believing in a "soul" is as living in the dark middle ages ? You still owe me an answer : the names of those great doctors who consulted Hazon Ish .

Remember, Charles, what you felt at the Bar Mitzva of your grandsons in the Bet Knesset. These feelings came from your soul.
