1. Where is the freeze on Palestinian violence?
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.26.10)
Our leadership is bankrupt. Why isn't Netanyahu calling for a freeze on Palestinian violence and crimes against humanity? Remember that as these latest talks started, Palestinian terrorists killed four Israeli civilians, tried to shoot and kill 2 more, and have fired dozens of anti-personnel rockets and mortars at civilian targets. Yet if we build a school in "the territories" the Palestinians will walk out of the "peace" talks? Either the Palestinians put up or shut up. They are showing that they can't manage their own affairs.
2. we froze building for 9 moinths
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.26.10)
we gave these refugees 10 months. we gave these refugees the gaza strip. we pulled out of lebanon. what has all that gotten israel.... war.... death and misery. abbas... we want back gilad shalit. we want you to recognize the right of israel to exist as a jewish state. we want you to give up the ficticious right of return. your refugee families can live with you in the newliy created palestinian state.. if there is one. your call now. we have done enough.
3. Good! Then No PEACE!
Israeli 2   (09.26.10)
4. Time to fire Ehud Barak.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (09.26.10)
Haven't we had enough of this loser?
5. Thousands of foundations with permits ready
Ilan ,   Ariel   (09.26.10)
Building can take place without any permits needed. If Abbas is looking for a fig leaf he won't have to search for it.
6. Barak-really, how much longer?
Tina Mizrachi ,   usa/israel   (09.26.10)
How much longer will we Israelis continue to offer this traitor harbor in our mists? BiBI- why oh why are you allowing this clown to call the plays-off with him, Barak we don't want you speaking for us- no to Abbas - we have not received anything from these "partners" of peace- no to Barak, no to Abbas and no to more of this so called peace shoved down our throats with nothing in return!
7. Israel should suffer because of US November elections
Seppo ,   Finland   (09.26.10)
Obama wants to show people that everything is under control. Now for more than a year administration has not dared to claim settlements to be illegal. They have only OPINION that they dont like them. Quite simply, Obama should go to Abbas and tell him that settlements are completely legal and Obama's Cairo speech was a mistake in which he called them illegal. The problem is that Abbas does not want to negotiate. He knows that Bibi will never accept his absolute requirement of 4,5 million Arabs moving to Israel. Thus no state as a result. Therefore he only expects UN to form a state without any negotiations. Obama created the whole settlement problem thru Biden and Clinton. Let them solve the mess they made up before they started charm policy.
8. Time to freeze Barak out of office & build.
Wise Saba ,   Ma'agalim   (09.26.10)
Build, build, build & build some more everywhere. The arabs don't want peace, they want piece, every piece of our land.
9.  build a wal-mart. everyone loves wal-marts.
debra ,   usa   (09.26.10)
even the anti-semites like oybama and abbas will praise israel then. and barak, the traitor, will approve of a wal-mart where the settlements should be. problem solved.
10. Life goes on-the only way to advance anything
Ozraeli ,   Australia   (09.26.10)
Construction should recommence immediately, because LIFE GOES ON. Nothing stimulates constructive action like the understanding that life is passing you by, & you will become irrelevant if not taking positive steps. The freeze-a horrible, self demeaning idea to begin with, only justified to bring into the open the Obama administration's openly anti Israel agenda & pathetic grasp of ME (& international) politics-is a classic case of "backward negotiations", where the weaker party (effectively, a spoiled, overindulged, hysterical little brat-yes, the Palestinians, although I'm sure that "The Haters" will cast this as Israel) makes ever increasing, ever escalating, ever more irrational demands & threats, while being totally dependant on the stronger party's good will, & unable to fulfil either threats OR agreements. Even if there is an agreement, can Abbas implement it, or does he want the US, EU, & NATO to "invade" Israel with "peacekeeping" forces? That was Arafat's strategy of "internationalisation". Abbas cannot deliver pizza, & he can barely control his own bowels. This "Punch & Judy" puppet show needs to end. The PA is only held up by the IDF, & Israel (& the US) is desperately trying to "negotiate" with someone who cannot negotiate, does not want to negotiate, & cannot implement an agreement. The only thing that stimulates people (assuming a reasonable desire to accommodate, which is absent here) to come to an agreement is a statement of "I need to get on with my life, & I will not tread water for you indefinitely". There are 100's of thousands of families, people, companies, businesses, subcontractors, & workers held hostage to "Reverse discrimination", racist demand for Jewish Israelis to put their lives on hold for some clown who is an international basket case, desperately treading water to keep the welfare gravy train going, & a US President who has a backward, "reversed" perspective on reality, politics, & history. Is this the case for Israel, vis a vis the US? The EU? Anyone else? Even though Israel needs to take into a far bigger strategic perspective of a modern nation-state, starting from international PR, terrorism, & an Iranian nuclear threat, it is still a positive, constructive, contributing nation. Is this the case for the Fakestinians? OK, Israel made nice with BHO before the midterm elections. Enough! The problem is that there is a refusal to say "That's the way it is; s__t happens; life goes on, get up & get on" to the PA. Global "Statesmen" & NGO's love this game-it gives them a purpose, a profile, a reason to suck up money, & an excuse to tell others how to live their lives. Israel invites & facilitates it. Has Barak made any correct strategic decisions recently? The reality is that "The World" would LOVE for Israel to make definitive statements, take definitive steps, & be unbendingly non negotiable. It would solve all THEIR problems. How can they be "good people" if they are not supporting the "underdog"? Who cares about history & reality? People build their own delusions. What is there to negotiate over, if you are not actively taking steps to improve your position & life? This is the only way to break an impasse; the only way it has worked throughout history, whether for an individual, a family, society, country, or group of "refugees". IMO, in the end, the reality will be that Israel will annex the West Bank/J&SE, & deal with the Pals by providing semi autonomy; a 10-15 year formal path to citizenship; use of aid money to resettle, disperse, or assimilate them; & finally, a (polite) declaration to others to "Butt out" of our internal affairs" (Unless the perpetual Jewish subconscious need to be loved will overcome sanity!). ENOUGH-this self destructive, self demeaning freeze needs to end. Have some NSR - National Self Respect. Choose constructive, productive life. Move on. The Pallies can chase our dust.
11. The humbug clown of Israel.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (09.26.10)
Does anybody believe anything this double talker has to say. All his actions indicate that he does not want peace.
12. very worrying comments here...
jonathan ,   London, Uk   (09.26.10)
... how does it not make sense to you that this ridiculous settlement building issue is an arrogant game affecting the lives of our children and grandchildren. I am jewish Israeli before you jump down my throat....
13. no surprise statement by barack . and
michael   (09.26.10)
in return the jews get nothing (again). will get nothing in the end except more heardache.
14. Construction freeze
Avraham ,   Jerusalem   (09.26.10)
Y-net uses the same expressions as Palestinians and other Arabs: "West Bank" and "East Jerusalem". For us, the Israeli Jews, there is Judea and Samaria and the parts of Jerusalem. Gilo, for example, is in the south, but still considered even by some Jews as part of "east Jerusalem"!? Another question: Why does Ehud Barak do the job of FM, instead of existing minister Mr. Liebermann?? PM sends FM only to missions in smaller, not so important (at least economically) developing countries, why??
15. Peace Now plans a protest.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (09.26.10)
Both members plan to demonstrate their stupidity in front of Netanyahu's home. They only have one sign, however, paid for by our European ''friends'' and it is in Finnish or Swedish. The media like to pretend that Peace Now is a ''left-wing movement'' although bowel movement would be more accurate. They represent virtually no one & are financed by the EU, sort of a rent-a-leftist business. The media plays along with this make-believe just like they play around with lots of other make-believe BS that has little to do with reality. I really like the skits that Latma.tv does, but it's pretty easy to make fun of pudgy pacifist Yariv Oppenheimer, I mean, the guy is a living parody. Speaking of parody, there's always Ehud Barak, that creep opportunist & serial bungler. I always picture him wearing a clown costume with a big, red phony nose. You just know if he recommends anything, it's got to be the wrong move.
16. I hope Barak is a "peace screen" for a
tanya ,   tel aviv israel   (09.26.10)
big plan (Iran), if not - too bad for Likud.
17. JUST SAY NO TO PEACE
Lews Levisnkton ,   Singapore   (09.26.10)
Better to assume that you dont want peace. Just say NO. It is enought to Arabs increase their arsenal. But... dont you love your children? Dont you think about their future?
18. we want peace not abbas/arafat piece
michael   (09.26.10)
19. #15 Barak the clown
Madeleine ,   Israel   (09.26.10)
Actually, I think he looks like a clown even without the clown suit, though it would certainly add a jolly touch. I always thnk he reminds me of Yogi Bear.
20. #14
jonathan ,   London, UK   (09.26.10)
....speak for yourself..... I am also Jewish Israeli and share none of your terminology. Also, the fact that Lieberman conducts no foreign missions speaks for itself.... what language do you need to be explained in?...
21. To: No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.26.10)
Yes, Lewis, we do. We think about their future all the time. We would like them to have one. Check out the core of every Palestinian organization's charter -- it calls for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jews. Some future, eh? We have come to the realization that with the Palestinians, there can be no peace. They are determined not to have their own state (they have, after all, rejected three opportunities, including one which would have awarded them 90% of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a capital). They want OUR state. The State of Israel. That will not happen.
22. Peace Now & the left will make or break things
zionist forever   (09.26.10)
Bibi has no choice but to continue settlement building if he doesn't the religious block and possibly the nationalists will pull out his coalition which will bring down the government. He can't let them go and invite Kadima instead otherwise Likud will become the junior partner in a left wing government where Labor and Kadima will back each other. Do that and Bibi will become a puppet whose strings are pulled by Livni & Barak. If Bibi allows the construction to begin again if he handles it right he can keep Abbas on board and keep his coalition intact. If Peace Now start carrying out anti settlement stunts and Israels left start demanding an end to the settlement building then Abbas won't be able to ignore it Time for anybody who is not involved directly to stay out of things let the people concerned work out the details.
23. BARAK SOULD BE FIRED
RayS ,   USA   (09.26.10)
.The man who brought Hizballah to control Israel's Northern Border and thus turned a secure border (with the friendly SLA in charge) is now trying to turn Judea and Samaria into a major threat . As for the PM , he must stand firm or the government should be replaced. As for the EU and the French FM's orders ,well I recall being with the French Foreign Legionaires in Sidi Bell Abbes in 43.Their officers were arrogant even then The soldiers seemed mostly German.Polish, and Jews,BUT the officers French (they had air-conditioned movie theater- NO enlisted men), The French Regime is still "an empty suit".
24. no.21
hebrew prophet ,   israel   (09.26.10)
Agree with you Sarah ,but what exactly does Israel gain from more concessio ns such as the settlement freeze moratorium being extended ,absolutely zillch as it only emboldens the looney left into getting more of their highly dangerous concessions?
25. Labor is a fringe party. Barak has no place in government.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.26.10)
It's obscene to have Ehud Barak making important decisions regarding the security and survival of Israel. Barak's record, in every leadership position outside the army, is of uninterrupted failure. The results of his policies, especially Oslo, are total disaster. That is why recent polls show Labor would be lucky to win 7 seats in an election today. Labor is a fringe party today. Neither Barak nor Labor has a major constituency in Israel. Barak has no place in government.
26. i'd say time for US to do whats good for the US
Victor   (09.26.10)
and that is get our nose out of this mess. Let the zionists and the Arabs fight it out and let the chips fall where they may. In meantime we charge for our weapons full price, as well as for our political support, no aid to anybody. Lets the kids grow and stand on their own feet.
27. If
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (09.26.10)
B"H If the State of Israel was established to shield the Jewish people from the effects of international anti-Semitism, and it doesn't do so, and it becomes an instrument in the hands of international anti-Semitism to hurt the Jewish people - than what's the point in keeping such a State and its politicians at a cost of about 50% of GNP?
28. #1
Oliie ,   Canada   (09.26.10)
Cohen, small question: you say either put up or shut up, fair enough. Are you directly saying here that if violence stops you will back Israel pulling out of the West Bank and E. Jer, and the making of the state of Palestine?
29. #6
Ollie ,   Canada   (09.26.10)
Tina, Labor won almost 10% in the last election, that's about 330,000 people - are these the people, these 330,000 people, the ones you speak of? Tina, it's called democracy.
