31. Bolshevik Yuri Misgav
Michael ,   Moscow, USA   (09.27.10)
In former Soviet Union there were also some jews who tried to reconcile atrocities that Bolsheviks reigned upon their own people. Some of them were part of the system, some tried to outsmart the system and some were taken hostage by that system. But by early 80-es there were no sane jew left in Soviet Union who would defend that evil government(‘memshelet-ha-zadon’) from an intellectual position. Yet here we’ve got Bolshevik Yuri who like an old mestechkoviy member of Evsektsiya is lecturing his fellow jews of adhering to a party line. Well – I’ve got some new for you Yuri – much like in former Soviet Union you will be despised by both jews and gentiles alike.

Actually, I have dual citizenship and spend roughly about the same time in Israel as I do in the United States. Stop with the nonsense about the olive trees. It has been conclusively demonstrated that the Palestinians prune the trees -- as must be done to olive trees -- and then point to the pruned branches and accuse Israelis of "cutting down" the trees. Except that it's always only the pruned branches in the photographs; never an uprooted or cut down tree. So we're onto THAT bit of Palestinian fiction; the world is tired of hearing it, too. That said -- ask your parents what life was like in the West Bank before Israel's takeover in 1967. Remember all those cholera epidemics because sewage ran raw in the streets? Remember that only 30% of the homes had running water and indoor plumbing? Remember that only roughly the same percentage had electricity? Remember all the unpaved roads? Remember the complete and total lack of infrastructure? Remember that there was only one hospital, and THAT was Hadassah Hospital on Mt. Scopus? Remember the high unemployment and the menial jobs which were the only ones available? Remember the complete dearth of universities? Remember no medical clinics? Israel was the best thing that ever happened to the Palestinians living in the West Bank -- we fixed all your problems; built schools and universities; paved the roads; put an end to the cholera epidemics and you repaid us how? Terror, more terror and still more terror. You are as ungrateful a bunch of people as ever populated this earth. You deserve nothing. Sixty-plus years of Palestinian failure to avail themselves of every opportunity, Palestinian intransigence and Palestinian terror is MORE than enough. We are SO sick of you.
33. Every leftist stance is a proven folly.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.27.10)
To call this article "rubbish" is unfair to rubbish. A cursory glance at a map proves that Judea and Samaria are vital to Israel's security. Judea and Samaria are all that protects Israel's thin, densely populated coast from constant rocket bombardment. Without Judea and Samaria, our enemies could cut our state in half with a liesurely three hour hike. The author's stance is complete folly as every leftist stance is a proven folly. From freeing and arming terrorists to fleeing Lebanon to fleeing Gaza, to Oslo to... everything.
34. Half pregnant progressively developing lunacy
Ozraeli ,   Australia   (09.27.10)
Following is a link to a NY Times Op-Ed article written by Golda Meir, published 14 Jan 1976. http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/oped40/CONFLICTMeir.pdf It is short, succinct, direct, & substantiated-a pleasure to read, & to remember what Zionist Labor Party!) leaders were like (with all their foibles and mistakes) in an era when they were not trying to "bend over & spread" for every NGO, "Pal Professional Victim International Welfare Recipient", & global busybody "statesmen". It is astonishing how "The more things change, the more they stay the same".
35. This piece reads like a high school essay
SETTHERECORDSTRAIGHT   (09.28.10)
Especially all that mishegas about 'folly' at the beginning. Such a chidlish way to write. I cannot believe Ynet prints garbage like this!

his self-hating nature. Nice try.

38. #15 - being paranoid doesn't mean you're not attacked
William ,   Israel   (09.28.10)
Just this week, the Arabs again ganged up on Israel at the UN. Last week, the Arabs tried to push a measure solely against Israel in the IAEA. The Arabs and Europeans are funding flotilla after flotilla to Gaza to lift a blockade ensuring Hamas will have weapons that no one denies will be used to commit war crimes against Israeli civilians. The UNHRC just released a report on the IHH flotilla with only one focus - Israel, while Hamas, Turkey, and IHH were blatantly ignored. Besides the obvious - ask yourself this: in 10 months of the settlement building freeze, why did "Palestinians" wait until month 9 to enter negotiations and still haven't met Israel's concession with concessions of their own? So, you see - Jewish paranoia does have its grounding in years of precedent.
39. kol hakovod to settlers
izwick ,   NYC   (09.28.10)
I've met many of the settlers and visited their communities. Kol hakovod to them, they are the true heroes of Israel and the Jewish people. they deserve our admiration, respect, and support, not condemnation from secular leftists who have no interest in a Jewish state.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Forgive my immodesty, but I have been blessed with a mind and the ability to express it .... which I plan to keep doing. Shana tova. Sarah
43. You are mistaken
Proud settler ,   Yesha   (09.28.10)
The settlers are the best Jews in the world and they are having babies to provide the future of the Jewish People - something the secular leftists aren't doing. If we left it up to Shalom Achshav and other similar groups, the Jewish People would die out altogether.
44. Israels Folly
brian ,   misgav, Israel   (09.28.10)
Truth of the matter is that when it comes to Israel's new generation of leaders, born in this country, what they lack in worldly perspective, they more than make up with in arrogance. This explains their tunnel vision and stupid self destructive policies .
45. Wow..
Rami ,   Michigan USA   (09.28.10)
Great article thanks for the link!
46. Revealing sentence
Thomas ,   Dixieland USA   (09.28.10)
And he goes: "I flew above the settlements recently, courtesy of a flight arranged by the Peace Now movement." quote. Peace Now - no further comment needed for it's self explanatory.
