1. There is no place for Thugs
Brod ,   USA   (09.27.10)
There should be NO state for thugs, marauders, terrorists, Jihadists, usurpers, squatters, and fanatics. There is already a Palestinian state called Jordan where 70% of the population is Palestinian.
2. to # 1
Pal ,   Pal/Jerusalem   (09.27.10)
we all would do better without your opinion and comments a sea and oaceon away . you are the real thug who is supporting the occupation and the terrorists who took our dream with your weapons and UN vetos . you are the real terrorist here according to the rest of the world .
3. Israel's only realistic option is to expell all Arabs
Avi ,   Geneva   (09.27.10)
from the Jordan River to the Med Sea. If we dither and do not do this, the Arabs will likely end up expelling all Jews from there. It is either them - or us. There is no middle way. all projected compromises are illusions.
4. Missing Opportunities
Amir ,   Duesseldorf, Germany   (09.27.10)
Indeed! The time does only play into Palestinians hands. Israel didn't miss any opportunity to miss a opportunity! The US-Power is diminishing and I think it would be best to apologize to the palestinians and beg that they'll not do to us what we did to them all the time, when they'll be the powerful. Sad but history teaches this.
5. Already have a state
John   (09.27.10)
There already is a Palestinian state - it's called Jordan. No one seems to want to recognize that.
6. No negotiations, start building and annex
Don Rosenberg ,   Palatine USA   (09.27.10)
Judea/Samaria. A Terrorist entity in J/S is the next step to eliminate and drive Jews out. Build , build and build and push the mooselim scum back to jordan and arabia.
7. An Israeli leader with a vision is needed
Rami of nazareth ,   Israel   (09.27.10)
Apeasing settlers and radicals is not always in Israel's best interest. A prosperous Pali state living side by side next to Israel, will only make Israel more secure, prosperous and ensure a jewish majority. If Natanyahu cares about Israel's future, he should save no effort in signing a peace deal
8. mistakes lead to 'palestinian' state
moron ,   galut   (09.27.10)
recent big mistake was oslo--first big mistake was giving 'palestine' to the brits who created pal state of jordan but not jewish state-see map israel is to small to divide for a another pal state-arabs have jordan and egyptians should get gaza-a big mistake when israel gave sinai without making egypt take gaza back
9. The most pressing question Mr. Friedmann is:
Salma ,   Palestine   (09.27.10)
Do you know how the world founded the State of "Israel" ?!!! I agree with you ,we Palestinians are in no rush .
10. And what about the bad choices of the pali's??
Daniel   (09.27.10)
11. israil thought it will be
sahara ,   gaza   (09.27.10)
the only player and forever ..it was the mistake ..as the only player has all the options but with other player it will deviate his option here or there
12. Israel/Pal
JEFF ,   USA   (09.27.10)
MAYBE SOMEONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME - WAS THERE EVER A PALESTINIAN STATE THAT ISRAEL TOOK? DIDN'T THE ARABS START ALL OF THE WARS? DO NATIONS GIVE AWAY TERRITORY WON IN A DEFENSIVE WAR? DIDN'T MOST OF THE ARABS LEAVE ISRAEL BECAUSE THEY WERE TOLD THEY WOULD BE BACK SON BECAUSE THE JEWS WOULD BE THROWN INTO THE SEA? CAN ANYBODY SEE THIS IS ALL MADE UP AND A BUNCH OF LIES? DID N'T THE ARABS COME TO PALESTINE FROM OTHER AREAS BECAUSE THEY HEARD THE JEWS WERE CREATING JOBS AND THEY SAW ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES WORKING FOR THE JEWS IN PRE-ISRAEL? PLEASE EXPLAIN!!!
13. The third option
Daniel   (09.27.10)
No binational state, no two-state-solution: The "territories" will have two names also in the future: "West Bank" for the Palestinians, "Judea and Samaria" for the Jews. Both living in a no-state-entity, continuing to built and to fight each other, perpetuating the status quo for many other decades. Israel is - as the Palestinians - in no rush either, no issue to be particularly worried about. Demographics and violence can become a boomerang for the Palestinians. And they know it.
14. Sour Grapes In The End ?
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem - ISRAEL   (09.27.10)
A future Palestinian state might eventually prove to be sour grapes that we,Palesinians, will bitterly regret. As a Palestinian I do not feel at all that the Palestinian Authority bothers to care a bit about me ! Will any future Palestinian state guarantee me the benefits I am enjoying right now such as social security, national health insurance, and freedom in its broad meaning ? Or will the Palestinian state prove, like the rest of the Arabs,a good supplier of empty words and broken promises? I doubt I would be willing to take risks ...!
15. How Israel founded the Palestinian state
George Brown ,   New York   (09.27.10)
Pls read some history: All the Muslim states which conquered jersalem were well established states, empires & what not. What is your theory re Nabucco keeping babiylon as his capital? It is a sad day when people like you actually make a living and get paid good money to write such BS.
16. non-violence extended to Palestine
unselfish-non-violen   (09.27.10)
seriously, the majority of the Palestinian people are good people. living so close to each other, it would be smart to nurture good, dignified relationship. and end the cruel call for expelling anybody. in the spirit of enlightened non-violence, problems will be solved. the hamas type of leaders must discard their murderous antiquated myths....and reform the organization.
17. Conclusion: for its own sake, Israel quit territories !
Susanne   (09.27.10)
This analyses shows that Israeli policies have been so self-destructive. What a terrible pity. And one must fear, that this going to be continued. And on top of having created its own nemesis, the Israeli policy of encouraging colonisation of the territories has drawn the worlds most imbecile and violent morons to Israel. How is Israel ever going to get rid of these ? Conclusion: Please, please quit the territories, Israel, dont keep on hurting yourself !
18. Biased?
Keefieboy ,   Madrid, Spain   (10.01.10)
I don't think I've ever read such a biased article, anywhere. Obviously this is an Israeli platform. The writer completely ignores the fact that Israel's extended borders are deemed illegal by the UN and anybody else who is interested in the subject. As far as Jerusalem goes, dare I suggest removing it from the picture? By which I mean, make it an independent city-state, along the lines of the Vatican. Christians, Jews and Muslims all consider it an important place, so why not allow free access to this place? The writer's point that it was never considered a capital by previous regimes is utterly irrelevant - capitals are only relevant to Government, and generally have nothing to do with any religious significance.
19. It's odd that the word Palestinian is NEVER used to describe
kate b ,   uk   (10.02.10)
Arabs in all the original 1917 Faisal-Weizmann and Balfour declaration, legally binding agreements. Jordan is the state for Arabs (77% of land) the remainder of the land with its ancient capital of Jerusalem is for the Jews. The only vestige of these agreements is the fact that the WAQF controls the temple mount. Only Arabs can pray there, Christians and Jews are arrested if they pray there aka Islam. It's eventually all down to religion, as the Hamas/any P.A charter is a religious (Islamic) charter - well look at the covenant of the pieces,as the Qur'an TELLS you to do sura 3:3 the Jews don't need to do anything, it's a one sided agreement from the original Eternal and the land will be restored to them, with peaceful Arabs alongside them. Why don't Palestinians use their ancient monetary system, instead of the ancient Jewish shekel? why is an Egyptian, Arafat their 1st king? The Jewish history spans Abraham, Isaac, Jacob (and covenant) Moses, King David, King Solomon &. Jesus, Gamaliel & - why NO Arab Palestinian history? because it's all recent. The original word 'Palestinian' from the Roman word for the Jews coined by Hadrian 132 CE was to describe the Jews and the word Arabs for the.....Arabs. Just like people think 'Father Christmas' has been round forever (he is a coca-cola advert from 1950s) the Palestinian narrative is a myth - however Arabs are not, and they prefer to live in Israel or any other place where biblical values are the basis of our culture. We ask you, as Islam doesn't work in the countries you have left, please don't bring it to our countries.
20. "Palestinians" in 1948?
eric ,   london, uk   (10.04.10)
"In 1948, the Palestinians were dispersed throughout several countries: Jordan, Israel, Egypt, Syria and Lebanon." Bizarre. Can someone define what the term "Palestinian" meant in 1948? How exactly were they "dispersed". If you lived in the same house in 1947 and 1949, were you "dispersed"?
