imho, think it makes good sense and consistent with successful historical practice, even ancient, to view and solve the conflict in terms of redefining geography and peoples. Haim Misgav is correct. We need not limit our discussions to the politically correct two-state solution, other options are worth debating, are worth our consideration. There is nothing sacred about the two-state solution. There are those on the Left to whom this has become an object of faith, not an object of analysis. As is their usual tactic, they become hysterical when their ideas are challenged. There is a good reason why they become hysterical - their ideas don't stand up to rational & objective analysis nor do they correspond to actual realities. Their response is, instead, name calling, smear campaigns. & censorship. This national debate is about our future, about our survival. It was entirely inappropriate to embarrass the current government by negating their efforts, especially in front of a body that would unquestionably be hostile to Mr. Lieberman's ideas and that is looking for any reason to doubt Israel's intentions. In that way, neither Arab nor Jews lose their residences nor communities. Jews get to continue to live under the Israeli government while a number of Arabs in the Triangle Area get to help construct the new state of Palestine. Lieberman was not delivering a campaign speech in Israel. He is Israel's Foreign Minister and has an obligation to act as one and not an idealogue. He put himself in the same space as the Iranian President who spoke at the same meeting. He embarrassed Israel, the Prime Minister and what remains of Israel's allies abroad. These are serious enough consequences to warrant his dismissal. His plan was nothing new but was timed to undermine the fragile peace talks. Aggressive, illogical haranguing does not help plead Israel's cause in the important international arena.
