It is very clear that Peace Now and Meretz are surviving on foreign handouts. Why? Why have they been abandoned by the Israeli electorate? Israel has never made a single concession or retreat which has benefitted Israel. Every single one of them has disastrous consequences. We left South Lebanon. We got thousands of rockets and our last Lebanon War. We left Gaza. We got thousands of rockets and our last Gaza War.

Just cuz I live in Judea does not mean that I believe in social democracy. My beef with the Left in Israel is that they've abandoned all the things they're supposed to be doing and have obsessively fixated on a single thing: "territory for peace". Once upon a time, the Labor Party was concerned with the workers. Sure, they set up a bolshevist system that promoted only Histadrut members, but they brought in progressive legislation that benefitted the nation. Ditto for the originating parties of Meretz who all started out as social reform parties, not "peace" parties. Does Meretz care about womens' rights? About single working mothers? About education? About poverty affecting over 20% of the country? No. They don't. Neither does Labor and neither do Kadima or Likud for that matter. Israel needs a strong social democratic party. It doesn't have one, nor does it have any grassroots parties growing in the wings. Feh! Woe to all of us!
