1. Crazy Messianic Jews
The Last Zionist ,   Eilat   (10.01.10)
I love how this newly created religion of Messianic Jews love to scream, Leftist. they have no idea what it means, but will continue screaming it as the try to lead the Jewish people to spiritual suicide.
2. Spot on. Ironically Jews in Judea interact with arabs 1000%
Jae ,   Lynn US   (10.01.10)
more than the hypocritical leftist Jews living in their bubble in tel aviv. The left: goldstone NIF Oslo degradation of Israel soros j street anarchists... NO THANK YOU
3. ROADMAP REQUIRES SETTLEMENT FREEZE!
PZ ,   New York   (10.01.10)
4. Take away their foreign funding, and the Left would die
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.01.10)
It is very clear that Peace Now and Meretz are surviving on foreign handouts. Why? Why have they been abandoned by the Israeli electorate? And if the Israeli electorate has abandoned them, is it moral and legal to allow them to continue to disproportionately influence the political scene? Meretz is about to disappear from the Knesset. Its leaders continue to blame eveybody except themselves. Peace Now continues to promote not peace, but capitulation.
5. #3 no it doesn't
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (10.01.10)
It requires that neither side take action to prejudice the outcome of negotiations. If building Jewish homes does that, then the far more massive Arab building is far worse. if you think building is a problem, you should be demanding that both sides abide by the Road Map.
6. Lamenting that if it were not for leftist tactics
Marcella   (10.01.10)
tactics your country would have already been partitioned? In the name of '"peace"? Give us one - just one item of evidence that Arabs want to live in peace with Israel. Just one! The PA population is against the talks. Their rhetoric is clearly hostile. Their media is full of hate. Their maps exclude even a tiny Israel. Where is your evidence, Mr.Segal? There is not even evidence that PA Arabs can live in peace with each other. There's no democracy there, no human rights, no maturity to build a civil society. The Partition Talks must be stopped. The government has no legal and no moral right to give away the Jewish heartland.
7. Leftists and settlement building
Joe Charlap ,   Mevasseret Isr   (10.01.10)
Thats right - blame the left for everything. This is the logic of the people of Chelm. The writer/s of this piece should be ashamed of themselves for such small minded thinking. One would expect comments like this from Avigdor Lieberman, not from responsible journalists.
8. I agree
Golan ,   modiin   (10.01.10)
if the left was truly interested in peace it wold have led the condemnation of PLO violence against Jews after the signing of Oslo. Instead they blamed Hamas for PLO violence and demanded Israel "enable" Arafat through more concessions, then joined Arafat in excusing Arab terror demanding even more concessions. Now they do the same for Hamas.
9. #7
(10.01.10)
How about this: SLA was fighting Hezbolla. The Left under Barak destroyed the SLA. Hezbolla took over Lebanon. Israel (under Leftist rule) lost a war against Hezbolla. Hezbolla is now a strategic threat to Israel.
10. Applaud almost anything that stops phony "peace talks".
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.01.10)
The leftist campaign against Jewish building in our 3,500 year old ancestral heartland is insane. However, there is a silver lining in every cloud. The despicable leftist campaign makes it much more difficult for Israel's enemies to sit at the table with Bibi to talk about partitioning our sole tiny Homeland. It makes it hard to talk about trimming Israel's waist to 8 miles. I applaud almost anything that stops the phony, dangerous "peace talks" aimed at destroying Israel in stages.
11. A Palestinian laborer
Haider ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (10.01.10)
Hagai Segal sees " A palestinian laborer rigorously buildning...". What a twisted mind does this writer have. Either he is stupid or he thinks the readers are stupid.
12. More Israeli insanity and duplicity
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (10.01.10)
So, once again the dastardly 'Left' is responsible for all of Israel's problems. Again, one must ask, 'What Left?' Israel has been run by the right since Rabin was assassinated. And, even Rabin promoted the illegal settlements on the West Bank. So, again, whewre is this 'Left' that Israelis wail about all the time? I also love how the writer of this article again trys the well-worn Israeli trick of avoiding all responsibility or self reflection.
13. Say it in plain English
Thomas ,   Dixieland USA   (10.01.10)
"Left" or "Liberal" is the innocuous sounding code words for neo-Marxism a.k.a. "Cultural Marxism" or "New Left". It's an international movement that started by A. Gramsci of Italy (1920) and perfected by H. Marcuse of the Frankfurt School's mostly Jewish Communist German-E. European philosophers in the 1930-es. They are active in every Western society violently trying to overthrow the social order and replace it with an idealistic, Utopian dream world. They are well financed by home grown Marxist billionaires and shadowy Arab oil money as well. The USA is currently run by these radicals under Obamao who was selected precisely because his race made him unassailable to criticism. Racist! Racist! one yells and case closed. Given the Jewish people traditional gravitation towards Marxism the prospect for a lasting, strong Israel is rather dim. The struggle between Bolshevism and Zionism is still unsettled.
14. Bush road map did great damage
Steve Klein   (10.01.10)
Ariel Sharon and his cabinet's acceptance of the Bush / Saudi road map, even with Israel's fourteen reservations did terrible damage to the integrity of the land of Israel. (Notwithstanding, the US would not accept Israel's modest reservations.) The road map should be rendered null and void. The Bush road map calls for the cessation of all building beyond the green line, within Israel's communities in Judea and Samaria. Notwithstanding Bush's letter to Sharon (which Obama refuses to recognize) the Bush / Saudi road map is unacceptable. It should have been rendered null and void by the Netanyahu government. Any new government should be clear that this arrangement is no longer valid.
15. Racist article
Ami ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (10.01.10)
The settlements have been the cause for all the problems! If israel continues with this policy of building on occupied land, there will never be peace!!!!
16. we have at least one Palestinian who does agree to see const
Ollie ,   Toronto   (10.01.10)
"we have at least one Palestinian who does agree to see construction in the settlements"...what a thought, what a blind, self-serving thought. What you see, is a Palestinian who does agree to put food on his family's table.
17. To Mike a sailor from Miami
Michael ,   Moscow, US   (10.01.10)
You’re asking where these lefties are to be found? Short answer is: in circulation. They are constantly circulating and re-appearing between Gush Dan area in Israel and Suffolk County /NY - Bergen County/NJ – Miami Dade County/FL. Their false messiah is happen to be the most powerful man on this Planet. His name is Barack Hussain Obonga. His deciples are: Rahm Emmanuel(oops-left), Larry Summers(oops-left), Robert Gates(on the way out), Nancy Pelosi(on the way out), Harry Reid(on the way out) etc. Seems everybody betrayed their messiah. Only his Israeli viceroys (Zippy Livne, Shimon Perez, Napoleonchik etc.) just like a pack of poodles are still trying to win their master’s attention by competing who will jump higher and lick cleaner his behind.
18. #13 Is Crazy. You are watching too much of Glen Becky
nono ,   US   (10.01.10)
....who might be crazier than you.
19. MikeSemen #12 the idiot
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (10.01.10)
So Peres, Barak and Olmert were right wingers eh? You are proving yet again that you have no idea about the country that you rail against daily. Hell Bibi would be considered an extreme leftist is any other country in the world.
20. Not "almost'
Adam Keller ,   Holon, Israel   (10.01.10)
"Almost since the moment they were established, the Left deployed at the frontlines of the demand to freeze and eliminate them. " Not "almost." From the first day, from the first hour, from the first minute, from the first second, from the first mili-second, the Left opposed the settlements, said that they are dangerous to Israle and must be dismantled, and the Left will continue to say it until the ARE dismantled.
21. to Ami-occupant, from Tel Aviv
Kurt ,   Vienna, Austria   (10.01.10)
Ami, you are living in settlement, aren't you? Everybody knows that it was Arab village there are you living now, not far - in 20th century! Judea and Samaria is an ancient Jewish land. BTW Jews and Arabs the same race - it can't to be racial problems. Arabs occupy YOUR land, and they don't want peace.
22. #18. nono US: You are way off
Thomas ,   Dixieland USA   (10.01.10)
I am Eastern European where Marxism-Leninism-Stalinism originated, both the ideology and its devastating practice. . Your Masters like Soros, Alinsky, Axelrod, etc. are all descendants of E. European Bolsheviks. (Google) We don't need Glenn Beck to know who is who in Hell for we lived in it over 60 years. We are 50 years ahead of you for Americans are ignorant about Marxism something we were forced to learn in the kindergarten. But you will learn eventually as did Cubans, Russians and the boat people of Vietnam. Until then keep singing the Obamao Ode: mmm mmm mmm Barack Hussein Obama mmm mmm mmm
23. #15. Israeli retreat is the cause of most Israeli problems.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.01.10)
#15. On what do you base your rant that Jewish "settlements' are the cause of Israel's problems? All the evidence proves that Israeli retreat is the cause of most of Israel's problems. Israel has never made a single concession or retreat which has benefitted Israel. Every single one of them has disastrous consequences. We left South Lebanon. We got thousands of rockets and our last Lebanon War. We left Gaza. We got thousands of rockets and our last Gaza War.
24. Joe #7 who said journalists were all responsible? CNN BBC
Jae ,   Lynn US   (10.01.10)
Reuters would all show you how biased they are, if you cared to pay attention. Journalists tout the left's cause, plain and simple to most.
25. #4 Brian. Labor and Kadima should follow Meretz to oblivion.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.02.10)
#4 Brian. You are absolutely correct that the destructive Israeli left relies, almost entirely on foreign funding, to inflict it's reviled agenda on Israel. Meretz appears to be on the brink of vanishing. However, it should not go alone. Israeli voters should also vote Labor and Kadima out of existence. These parties are every bit as pathetic, appeasing and destructive as Meretz and Peace Now.
26. The Left will soon die out
Gershon ,   Israel   (10.02.10)
They have few or no kids.
27. The Left is over 150 years old!
Thomas ,   Dixieland USA   (10.03.10)
It won't disappear: it's and Utopian philosophy that preaches paradise on Earth to the true believers hence its magnetism. In places where it already scorched the earth will retract temporarily like in E. Europe and Russia but will keep moving to other places like the USA and now it's in full bloom in Israel. Like the hydra it has many heads and many variants in order to appeal to every taste: Stalinist, Tockyst, Marxist, Maoist, Old Left, New Left, Socialist, Fabianist (Britain 1880) ....you name it.
28. when there was no settlement, racist Arab states attacked Is
Iattacked Israel   (10.03.10)
the problem is not about settelments, its about Arab racism and Fascism. They believed all Middle East belonged to Arabs becuase they had been successful in occupying many countries including Israel for many centruries. they could not let go of their illusion of supermacy. They wanted to destroy Israel and throw all Jews in the sea. this is what Arab leaders screamed in their speeched before they attacked Israel with the intent to completely occupy it and kill its people. they failed in the war and each of these countries that attacked Israel lost some land. IF they had not failed, they would kill all Jews and occupy Israel again and would stablish just another Arab/Islamic country with no Jews in it. now that they have fortunatley failed, they complain and moan and cry and pretend to be victim. If Arabs had been victorious in destroying Israel, there would not be any Palestinian today or any independent Palestinians state ! Arab countries would just divide Israel between themselves and no country or no Leftists in the world would be defending the right of Jewish people against Arab racist and Islamic Fascists. who would want to hurt the feelings of the oil rich Arabs?
29. Lettists want to DESTROY ISRAEL!
Frank ,   USA   (10.03.10)
That is what they hope for...
30. Whoa - don't get me wrong. I believe in a strong Left!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (10.03.10)
Just cuz I live in Judea does not mean that I believe in social democracy. My beef with the Left in Israel is that they've abandoned all the things they're supposed to be doing and have obsessively fixated on a single thing: "territory for peace". Once upon a time, the Labor Party was concerned with the workers. Sure, they set up a bolshevist system that promoted only Histadrut members, but they brought in progressive legislation that benefitted the nation. Ditto for the originating parties of Meretz who all started out as social reform parties, not "peace" parties. Does Meretz care about womens' rights? About single working mothers? About education? About poverty affecting over 20% of the country? No. They don't. Neither does Labor and neither do Kadima or Likud for that matter. Israel needs a strong social democratic party. It doesn't have one, nor does it have any grassroots parties growing in the wings. Feh! Woe to all of us! We're stuck with Bibi and the greed of Likud and Kadima and the Haredim on who can grab the biggest chunk of the tax pie, give the most jobs to the party hacks, and screw the future generations while they line their pockets.
