1. Really???
David ben Yaakov ,   Toronto, Canada   (10.04.10)
And the 1990's so called Peace Accord was signed where-Oslo, the capital of this Terrorist loving country! This just proves how lop-sided the Norwegians are...they finally admit that they helped Terrorists escape an IDF dragnet...and now they ban German built subs destined for Israel to use their territorial waters....? What a pathetic member country of NATO..
2. Oh?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.04.10)
The Norwegians need to be a little careful. They are not big enough and they are not bad enough and in ten years, when the North Sea oil runs out, they're going to go right back to being the second poorest country in Europe. Their shipping industry is already in the toilet, and that's all they have. They really need to tread lightly around Israel.
3. This is an illegal action by the UN
William ,   Israel   (10.04.10)
There was no proof that these prisoners, who had blood on their hands, would be tortured. That was purely an excuse to help the terrorists they protect. Now, on the other hand, UNIFIL didn't care much about the Israeli soldiers taken prisoner and tortured to death in 2006 when Hizbullah used UN cover for their crimes. Apparently, "torture" isn't enough to get UNIFIL's attention.

ALL THE SHIT FROM UNIFIL STARTED TO COME OUT. SHAME ON YOU NORWAY
8. A couple of remarks if I may:
Youssef ,   Beirut   (10.04.10)
1. In 1992 Israel was occupying Lebanon, so whatever these 2 guys did could not be labelled "terrorism". 2. There must be a reason why the Norwegians were fearing them to be tortured. 3. The IDF must not have been too clever not to spot 2 middle easterns amongst a bus full of blond vikings. 4. I noted that #3 (William) is comparing the IDF actions to those of Hezbollah. This shows how bad the IDF image has become in the eyes of some Israelis...
9. the swedes hate us, the norwegians hate us... i guess we're
oferdesade ,   israel   (10.04.10)
... evil. b4 WW2 - 2,000 jews in norway. after - 500. Nearly all the Jews were sent to death camps. The Norwegian police usually helped the nazis seek them out. The ones who escaped had to pay norwegian border guards tons.
10. What a surprise Norwegians turn out to be helping terrorists
Nick Afrides ,   Greece   (10.04.10)
11. #8 - another case of Arab convolution
William ,   Israel   (10.04.10)
Funny, I didn't compare the IDF and Hizbullah...so it must have occurred in your own convoluted head...just like the many conspiracy theories and revisionist claims on history that pass for "intelligent discourse" in the Arab world these days. Actually, the comparison was on the hypocrisy of the UN, who "fear" torture by the IDF when the IDF is not known for it, but fully allowed Hizbullah to cross into Israel, kidnap IDF soldiers, and allow UNIFIL to be used as cover despite knowing these soldiers would be tortured to death. It's called racist bias and Apartheid laws - one for Israel and another for the whole world. How you read my post as equating IDF honorable protection of citizens with Hizbullah's war crimes is beyond me.
12. #8 - In 1982, you harbored terrorists
William ,   Israel   (10.05.10)
and continued to allow terrorist attacks on Israel from your own land, as you hosted them. That makes you part and parcel in their crimes and guilty of them as well. Since Israel took S. Lebanon as a buffer, which is allowable under Intl Law, against your war crimes, it can hardly be considered an "occupation". In other words, if you attack someone from your house, don't be upset when they visit you at home.

Before that happens, though, the Norwegians will be speaking Arabic because of their appeasement policy. Since I am not Norwegian, I am not worried, but I think they should be.

Is a known israel-hater in Norway and will do anything to slander Israel. He is also working in NRK which is the biggest norwegian broadcast-corporation and is free to serve his lies about Israel there. He is the one which is most responsible for the growing hatered against Israel in Norway the last 30 years. I tell you all. Beware of Norway!
16. To William # 11 & 12: Youssef # 8 is 100% correct

The 2 fugitives escaped from Khiam prison. Back then Khiam was known throughout Lebanon as the Israeli torture prison - the Equivalent of the Syrian Mazze - Lots of Lebanese went-in never to get out - It was an illegal prison, the IDF prohibited the International Red Cross or any other Human Rights group from visiting it. Stories of innmate's screams echoeing through the night, and heard in Khiam town and the surrounding villages were abundant...In 2000 when the IDF and the SLA retreated in a hurry from the prison, the truth was uncovered, and the extent of the atrocities that the prisoners were enduring came to light...It attracted serious investigations, and could have led to serious condemnation, and prosecution of IDF and Israel, if Israel did not take action in 2006, where one of its main objective of invading Lebanon, and Khiam region in particular was to blow up and buldozer the prison in an attempt to eradicate all evidences, that might condemn them. And of course, the Norwegian Unifil soldiers that were living among the Lebanese population have had their suspicions of the horrible things that was going on inside that prison, and that's why they decided to help these two fugitives. Do you think it is a coincidence that Israel has the lowest approval ratings among the european nations that sent their sons to serve with UNIFIL in Lebanon - i.e. France - Italy - Spain - Norway - Finland - Ireland...etc....??? These UNIFIL soldiers experienced the goodness & hospitality of the lebanese people in one hand, and the Ugliness & Unhuman Israeli occupation on the other...and they returned home to their respective countries, to testify to their friends, families and neighbours of what they experienced.

What are you smoking? you are 100% wrong. number 11 & 12 is 100% right
18. #16 - just as your handle, the claims were anonymous?
William ,   Israel   (10.05.10)
"Khiam was known throughout Lebanon as the Israeli torture prison" Now, shall we base that on fact or the Arab rumor mill? According to the Turks and some angry "Palestinians", Israeli jails are also "torture prisons" yet no one can prove it, and "Palestinian" women even came out denouncing that claim by the Turks. In Lebanon, they still consider Ariel Sharon as the "butcher" for something the Christian Philangist leader order and implemented at the Sabra & Shantilla refugee camps there, eventually giving the Philangist leader a pardon and a high-ranking position in 2001. If the 2006 war was to target the Khiam prison to destroy evidence (as you claim) then why wait 6 years? Are Arabs that slow to collect "evidence"? I hardly take an Arab's word for it considering precedent. I wonder how the UNIFIL team feels today with the Lebanese "hospitality", namely being stoned when they enter villages, being threatened by Hizbullah for asking questions, being targeted by Lebanese and Palestinian terror groups...yet, it's the Israelis who have the audacity to clip trees on their side of the border that really irk those UN twits. You have one thing correct - the UNIFIL live among Lebanese, not Israelis, so besides the daily helping of racist BS from the locals they also have to keep their noses clean knowing how Shias and Hizbullah tend to respond. Most of the UN soldiers I spoke to join for one reason only - to be in a low-conflict zone, while doing almost nothing, getting a nice addition to their resume (which does open a lot of doors), and the right to import a lot of crap without customs taxes. A Finnish soldier told me he was taking home a brand new car.

I met a guy who'd served in the Leb-he said all forces were awful dirty bastards, but at least the Israelis would tell you to your face that they were going to be awful dirty bastards. The others-Phalngists, Amal,PLO, they'd smile and laugh and shoot you when you'd turn your back. That is one first hand account I received from a former Irish soldier. On the other hand, when Irish UNIFIL troops pulled out 2001, Hezbollah released a statement commending the role of Irish peacekeepers

24. #20 Khiam Prison
Moshe of Rockville ,   Rockville,MD USA   (10.06.10)
The kidnapping and killing of imprisoned IDF soldiers is a common feature among those who want to destroy the Jewish State. As a result, the government of Lebanon(including its Hezbollah ally), which is still in a state of war with Israel for the past 62 + years,is in no position to complain about the treatment of terrorists. An easy way for Lebanon and its Hezbollah buddy to avoid IDF actions would be to establish a peaceful border with the Jewish State.

I agree. Those Quislings really do need to be worried.
26. torture at al-Khiam
Tore Bjørn ,   Oslo, Norway   (10.06.10)
The Norwegian battalion had observation posts very close to the Prison and I think the battalion CP was on a hill about 4km from the prison , and if I remember correctly Norwegian soldiers heard first hand the screams coming from inside. I'm sure someone will say it was the local Mossad choir or that it was all SLAs fault. But they will be fooling themselves. Most Norwegians going to Lebanon in 1979 were very pro-Israel. However this changed rapidly as Israels behavior did not meet expectations. As the 80s progressed fewer and fewer saw Israel as friendly. The older officers were the latest to change their mind(the older we get the less likely we are to reassess our world view). That the senior commander in 1992 subverted orders in order to follow UN conventions is I think a testament to the work in the Norwegian armed forces towards instilling an understanding of the rules of armed conflict, and the ethical boundaries which orders can not cross. Returning these two men to torture in al-Khiam would have been unconscionable, and as a Norwegian I am proud that these men did the right and not the easy thing.
