31. The way I see it, Israel has no reason to lie on the fence

for the US or anyone else here. Israel did not create the Iranian problem, and is not the policeman of the world. If Obama wants Iran attacked, he will have to do it himself. We are not hire swords. If Iran doesn't attack us, we will not attack her.
32. Add Turkey's privately owned Tupras Oil to list

Flotillas of sanctions are heading Iran's way and this is just the beginning. Subsidy cuts will take effect shortly in Iran to head off the losses but that's like putting your thumb in the dam. More sanctions please!!

Really? Do you seriously mean to suggest that a nuclear Iraq would not have deployed such weapons in 1991? They most assuredly would have. Similarly, the mad mullahs in Iran have been leveling threats against Israel for thirty years. Israel takes existential threats quite seriously. The war has started, by the way -- can you spell "Stuxnet?" Israel has just taken it to a level which has not cost a single life. Pretty gosh-darned clever, wouldn't you agree? Iran's command and control and SCADA systems are crippled. But Israel has always made it very, very plain that a nuclear Iran is simply not going to happen. So Iran continues its dogged pursuit of nuclear weapons very much to its peril. I remind you that Israel has, in fact, been a nuclear power since the 1960s. I also point out that it has never used a nuclear weapon. Moreover, please don't forget the fact that all six wars between Israel and its Arab neighbors were started by the Arabs. So who is the real aggressor in the region? Do you fault Israel for defending itself? What a ridiculous concept! Israel has shown incredible patience -- it waited eight years before launching the Cast Lead operation. How many countries can you name that would endure eight years of daily missile barrages before retaliating? Most wouldn't wait eight seconds. It isn't Israel that is the source of instability in the region. It is Arab and Islamofascist aggression and intransigence that is to blame -- something else for you to keep in mind before composing your vitriolic posts.
34. In fact, I'm starting to see the exact opposite
GUH   (10.06.10)
It's IRAN we should be thanking for the smaller American death tolls. Iraq started a war of aggression against the Iranians, and the eight years that ensued bankrupted the Iraqi war machine, in effect making it incapable of staving off the combined efforts of the US and the coalition. Iran bore the brunt of the Iraqi war machine (supported by the USA of course), and hasn't fought in any wars since, which casts doubt on your claim that Iran is the greatest threat to civilization.
35. As a general rule
Kenenisa Bekele   (10.06.10)
One country develops nuclear weapons as a result of that country's enemy having it: when the USA developed nukes, the USSR did the same, and so did Communist China; two of the three, or all three, had an arms race. When Britain developed nukes, France developed them. When India developed nukes, Pakistan did the same. It's all about cause and effect. Now Israel has nukes, and Israel has made plenty of enemies who would feel safer if they were on the same playing field. What's the solution? Sign the NPT, quit jailing people for telling what was made obvious (Vanunu), quit being hypocrites and get rid of your nukes. Any questions?

More fool you. Have you forgotten that the Islamic Republic of Iran has launched a war against the West? They do, after all, refer to the United States as the "Great Satan." They do, after all, sponsor terrorism -- Hamas and Hizbollah. Have you also forgotten that nearly one million Iranians died in their shame-faced draw with Iraq? Have you further forgotten that, towards the end, Iran started tossing ten-year old children against Iraqi tanks? A nuclear Iran would target the West. Iran is subsumed by its ancient "glories" -- principally Cyrus, having conveniently forgotten Darius. They dream of Islamicization of the world, and if you doubt that, check out some of the rhetoric which has issued forth from Teheran over the past thirty years. It's not just Israel that they have expressed the will to destroy -- it's the United States, Canada, Western Europe and virtually everyone that is not as primitive and fanatical as they are. They have also expressed a desire to create (and, needless to say, lead) a new Caliphate. They are known sponsors of terror. How stupid can you possibly be?

The difference being that Israel has had nukes since the 1960s, but has yet to use them. Israel therefore qualifies as a responsible member of the nuclear club (and I note for the record that Israel is a member of BOTH nuclear clubs -- those who possess a nuclear arsenal and the much smaller those who possess delivery capacity). Iran is not a responsible nation. You need but listen to the death and destruction and other vile rhetoric emanating from Teheran for 30 years now, promising to "wipe the Zionist entity (i.e., Israel) from the map." Israel will not get rid of its nukes. Then again, Israel has proven itself to be a stable and responsible nuclear power. Can the same be said for Pakistan? Of course not! Why on earth would you think that Iran would be any different?
38. I would respond to you Sarah

But unfortunately ynet doesn't post any of my responses. We'll let that be a conversation for now.

Please don't forget the war which Iran has conducted -- and continues to conduct -- against people of the Bahai faith, against Kurds and against Zoroastrians. They have even, it is believed, used chemical weapons (though not to the extent that Iraq did). As to wars other states -- not for want of trying. As soon as NATO is fully out of Iraq, you can expect to see Iran go in, probably under the guise of coming to the "aid" of the Shi'ites in Iraq. But I do have a serious question -- assuming you are familiar with the rhetoric and the sturm und drang that has been coming out of Iran for thirty years, including particularly its threats against the West and Israel --all sovereign states -- can you really say that they are not a threat to civilization? For that matter, do you agree that one can make the argument that any country that hangs people from jib cranes and stones people to death ALREADY is a threat to civilization? The Islamic Revolution has murdered far more Iranians than the Shah ever did.
