1. Love to hear great things on the news
Omri ,   Israel   (10.13.10)
2. Only a racist Israel could do this, right?
Golani ,   Vineland, USA   (10.13.10)
You could only expect a story like this out of a racist, apartheid Jewish country, right. Come on, all you left wingies, and anti Zionist, and anti Israel factions. Wake up and get real. The Jewish nation of Eretz Israel is here to stay and Thank G-d. We may not be perfect, but we are closer than anyone else.
3. Never regret doing good !
Salma ,   Palestine   (10.13.10)
The children of Iraq have suffered enough , even simple things can make them happy. Ms. Ranjin, Your child's life is more important than the empty slogans ... as for 'We love Israel' , no wonder ... much naivety and innocence of the Arabs :(
4. #3 say why didn;t he go to those fancy UN hospitals?
Omri ,   Israel   (10.13.10)
Or the even better Palestinian hospitals?

7. #6 A Pathetic Comment
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville USA   (10.13.10)
A pathetic comment from a representative of the land of the overfed and undereducated.
8. Haiti disaster response pathetic?
Rebecca ,   Modiin   (10.13.10)
I often find the "antisemitism" response a bit week, but the ONLY reason someone can post that the Haiti disaster response was pathetic is that for some undefinable reason the poster is anti Israel. Being so totally antisemtic/anti-Israel is not explainable.
9. disaster relief by Israel
Michele ,   Minneapolis, MN   (10.13.10)
Wasn't Israel the first country to offer disaster relief to Haiti???
10. The answer to #7 and#8
David ,   USA/ISRAEL/EGYPT   (10.13.10)
jealousy!... #6 has joined the loser's club and anything wonderful accomplished by the Jews or Israelis is a setback to him. Just ignore the imbecile
11. Iraqi boy cured
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (10.13.10)
Naturally one is happy to see a highly favorable medical outcome. However, the Iraqi boy was cured in Israel, and thus, in his country, always will be considered to have the mark of the Devil on him, despite his cure.
12. Good deed:
split ,   USA   (10.13.10)
But do you have to brag about it ? On the top of that you make an impression like this is something short of miracle and it's done exclusively in Israel by Jewish doctors and that's not true.
13. a beautiful story
martha benton ,   bainbridge, united   (10.13.10)
Tis a beautiful story. truly it shows the compassion that is in Israel.

Probably an iraqi jew...Not surprised!
17. #12
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.13.10)
Nobody said that it is done exclusively in Israel. It could have been done in Iran - as the article stated - but they were asking too much money. It could have been done also in Turkey but it was done in Israel and for free. Since it is OK for people like you to bash Israel on every ocassion weather it is justified or not, please don't complain when we brag about the good deeds that our people do. After all the world must see both sides right? Don't forget that you are being allowed to bash Israel and Jews here in Yney an Israeli site. I wonder if one can bash Jordan or Jordan in a Jordanian paper or Egypt on an Egyptian paper?
18. To: No. 12
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.13.10)
Why must you always be so jaundiced when it comes to Israel or things Jewish? It is not bragging. No one is suggesting that is done exclusively in Israel by Jewish doctors. That said, however, it is a fact that THIS particular surgery WAS done in Israel BY a Jewish doctor. Since when is a statement of fact "bragging?" Besides -- think of the benefit. I can pretty much guarantee you that because of this story, the Israeli foundation responsible for bringing this child to Israel will receive tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars in contributions from Jews throughout the world to support their work of bringing sick Arab children to Israel for life-saving surgery. What's wrong with that? By the way, I guess you must have missed this part of the article, quoting the child's mother: "We had a possibility to undergo the surgery in Iran for thousands of dollars, but we are a family without such means." So Iran's "philanthropy" comes with a price tag. Israel's does not. What's your take on that?
19. Number 14: to which month do you refer?
Joe ,   London UK   (10.13.10)
Well?
20. agree with #12
Igor ,   Ashkelon,Israel   (10.13.10)
also publicity can create problems for the family when they return, and make it more difficult for other Iraqis, to come to Israel for treatment.
21. Re #11 Don't be so sure
Andrew Brehm   (10.13.10)
The Arab world is a far more complex place than western antisemites or Arabs like "Salma" make it appear. While Iraq does not have diplomatic ties with Israel, Iraqi MPs do visit Israel and the highest court of Iraq has confirmed their right to do so. Modern Hebrew is being taught at the University of Baghdad and Iraqis of both Arab and Kurdish nationality have supported Israel against Hizbullah in 2006 on Web forums. Iraqis are not like the Palestinians Salma tries to make us believe in. They love their children and will accept that a mother would go to an enemy country if it helps her child.
22. Re #12
Andrew Brehm   (10.13.10)
We are not bragging about it. This happens quite a lot and it's rare that any newspaper even mentions it. And yes, it is done exclusively in Israel by Jewish doctors. No other country has a special program to help provide healthcare to the children of enemy countries during a cease-fire. Plus you will certainly not find this kind of thing in Arab countries for Israeli children. So it is indeed unique and it is sort of a miracle. (Most other countries would stop doing this after the third or so patient or patient parent smuggled a bomb into the country when crossing the border. That has happened a few times yet Israel continues these programs. Isn't that a miracle?)
23. to Salma
SA ,   USA   (10.13.10)
Salma, must you insist on sneaking in snide remarks about Israel into EVERY article you read? Can't you just enjoy the news once in a while. Geez, those Iraqis have suffered enough, even a "simple thing" like having their life saved makes them happy. You talk as if the Israelis just went over to Iraq and gave them some candy or something. When Syria has hospitals that sponsor Jewish children with life-saving illnesses to come have surgery, then I'll listen to you.
24. #12- Split
Louis Fried ,   Woodbridge   (10.13.10)
And American and Canadian newspapers do not feature stories about their hospitals' charitable medical treatment for needy foreign patients?????
25. sarah z
Horst ,   Hr   (10.13.10)
On the subject of philanthropy. Israels aid to Haiti has to be viewed by the fact that a few months before it had killed hundreds of women and children destroyed thousands of homes and devastated if that's possible an already crippled Gaza. All of that a few miles down the road from Tel Aviv I am sure you remember that Israel and the US Zionist lobby were at the forefront of the campaign to invade Iraq with its dire consequences .So yes this is a good news story but philanthropy ....
26. #14 - Deaths in Gaza
Ali ,   Gaza   (10.13.10)
There were 1,400 deaths in the Cast Lead Operation in Gaza. Israel is being blamed for these deaths. MORE than half of these deaths are the fault of Hamas for hiding behind our children and firing their weapons. This is the action of the Brave Fighters of Hamas. This request is to the World...help us get rid of these murderers and thugs calling themselves Hamas!
27. Israel's Good Deeds
Simcha ,   So.Cal.USA   (10.13.10)
I work with the public every day of my life, and had an experience that sort of demonstraits anti-jewish bias on the low end of the hostility meter. One of our clients one day asked me if I was Saved{very nice Christian lady},and I told her I am Jewish. She looked dumbfounded and said...but you are so nice. She continues to be a client and is always nice to me but she never really asked any questions of me and I know she wanted to. I see no reason why Israel cannot say when they reach out to people, no one does it for us.
28. To: SA at No. 23
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.13.10)
Well, you will remember that Salma was such a passionate defender of the blockade running MARI MARMARA; she carried on ad nauseum about the vessel -- which carried terrorists -- only wishing to bring "humanitarian" aid to Gaza. Turns out the vessel was carrying some cheap plastic toys, moldy blankets and expired over-the-counter medicines -- that was the extent of the "humanitarian" aid (the bulk of the containers being filled with material suitable only for shoring up illegal smuggling tunnels). But when an Israeli surgeon performs desperately-needed open-heart surgery on a dying three-year old Arab boy, and his grateful mother says that she "loves Israel," Salma can only bemoan the "naivety [sic] and innocence of the Arabs." I guess she never heard of terrorists and suicide bombers; or perhaps its because violence and terror is the lingua franca of the "Palestinians." Either way, hers surely is a sick and depraved point of view.
29. To: No. 25
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.13.10)
Israel's Cast Lead operation in Gaza was a response to years of suicide bombers sent by Hamas to murder innocent Israelis and to eight years of daily missile barrages fired into Israel by Hamas terrorists. Can you name one country that would have waited eight seconds before retaliating, let alone eight years? Your use of the phrase "US Zionist lobby" telegraphs your mindset; that aspect of your comment is therefore not deserving of a response. It's simply too ridiculous to contemplate.
