1. Excellent rendition of Rabin's real legacy

In 1995, the Labour party and the Palestinian authority both endorsed (implicitly since it was not signed by anyone) a partial agreement made by Yossi Beilin and Mahmood Abbas. This agreement clearly said that all the West Bank (except the settlement blocs which represent laround 5% of the West Bank) was to become part of the Palestinian state. It also said that the Palestinians would have their capital in Jerusalem. This is roughly what Barak offered in Camp David. For the 1967 border, it is true that Rabin said that they were not defensible and that Israel should keep a presence in the Jordan Valley. Nonetheless, he didn't want to annex large parts of the West bank, he just wanted to keep a military presence in the Valley. If Rabin didn't use the word state for the Palestinians, it's because it was a taboo back than. I can remember just after the Oslo agreement was signed, Israeli officials suggesting that ultimately, the Palestinian''entity'' as they called it and Jordan would form a confederation since the Palestinians and the Jordanians are the same people.

Quoting you, "since the Palestinians and Jordanians are the same people."
4. Rabin was the PM, not Beilin
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (10.29.10)
A. Abitbol (#2) writes that Beilin and Abbas had endorsed an agreement going well beyond those of Rabin; but Beilin wasn't the PM. This, in a nutshell, was the problem. Beilin (together with Peres) were carrying out their own foreign policy designs with the intent - as they did with Oslo - of presenting them as a fait accompli to Rabin. We're still paying the price for their rogue diplomacy.
5. Spin like a dredel keep on spinning a story
Al   (10.29.10)
His legacy was that of a failed leader in every single endeavor he undertook or that was given to him. Try try as you may...he has no legacy...its all about nothing...grasping at straws trying trying to paint him in a better light that he was. His failure in anything in life started when he fired on Jews in 1948 resulting in the murder of 17 holocaust survivors on the shores of Tel Aviv on the orders of der Fuherer Bed Gurion...That was his 'Legacy" His failure in life continued all the way thru his supposed career in the military, and in politics. Nuff said...he's buried, gone and were the state to allow the people, he would be forgotten like a bad dram.. His memory is not worthy of being remembered.
6. in short st Rabin shamelessly lied to us.
Rehavam ,   Israel   (10.29.10)
7. All true
Avi ,   Geneva   (10.29.10)
- Rabin is being cynically 'recast' in their image by today's leftists. These people - Yossi Beilin, Ehud Barak, and thier ilk - are destroying Israel bit by bit.
8. Lies
Daniel ,   Holland   (10.29.10)
Leftists always lie about their intentions because otherwise they would not get elected. As a result leftists simply assume Rabin was lying when he said those things, which is why the facts don't persuade them.
9. to 7 avi
