Wouldn'tcha knowit. Just when the Matty Groves and Bloodyscots and Salmas of the world had us almost convinced that Israel was a pariah state... And, of course, the statistics back up Lonely Planet. There are record numbers of foreigners ignoring the anti-Israel hysteria and visiting Israel. Looks like the world is ignoring the Palestinian propagandists and recognizing that Israel is indeed a good country worth visiting. Wonder how the Syrian people think of their country being so popular...

The 9th place was NOT awarded to New Castle, England, which doesn't exist as it's Newcastle (one word) - but actually they were referring to Newcastle, Australia which is about 2 hours north of Sydney and a world away from Newcastle, England - meaning both "on-Tyne" and "under-Lyme" varieties.
