64. #4,21 Occupation?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (11.05.10)
Issawiya is within the 1967 borders, and Jew killers do not need any resistance speech: remember the pogroms of Akko, Pekiin, the lynch parties in Tel Aviv, or Ramallah. Worse: police authoritie do not issue gun licenses to Jews, but turn a bling eye to the illegal gun possession of Arabs.
65. to #4
(11.05.10)
So you support lynching of unarmed civilians? Alistair, you are insane!!!
66. #24 Walid
(11.05.10)
So you are from Palestine, eh? Where exactly is the state of Palestine, when was it set up, what is its currency, by whom is it recognized? Go ahead, support more drive by shootings, lynching of Jews, suicide bombers and the IHH. That will give you independence in no time, eh?
67. Jim from DC: Actually, Arabs enter
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.05.10)
Israeli villages (settlements) across the Green Line all the time. These villages are wonderful sources of work for them. Many "settlements" are protected by fences and the rest have a guard's station at the road entrance to stop unwelcome intruders. It's apparent that you have no firsthand knowledge of Israel. You might start by asking questions as opposed to making statements.
68. Taxis: I have taken taxis driven by
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.05.10)
Arab taxi drivers in Jerusalem before. After reading this transfixing article, not again.
69. #33 Every country?
Raphael ,   Netanya   (11.05.10)
An old lady who pulled the burqa of an arab tourist in Paris got 1 month jail.
70. Slipping up
Chris Perver ,   Bangor, N. Ireland   (11.05.10)
The Palestinians are really slipping up now. I mean, a road block and a lynch mob, but no Al-Reuters photographers? Come on, guys!
71. Thank God they got away and the car was damaged.
ron k. ,   Issrael   (11.05.10)
Thank God they got away and the car was damaged. Planned ambush again and then argue that the Israelis are aggressive ... Ha, ha, ha
72. 61 American
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (11.05.10)
If they did that it would deprive you of the opportunity to show us what an idiot you are.
73. To No. 66 and all others
walid awad ,   palestine   (11.05.10)
Palestine existed before 1948, there was a palestinian government, its currency was the Palestinian pound. Up to 1948, all mayors of Jerusalem were Palestinians, Arab Palestinian neighborhoods in west jerusalem were flourishing, palestine was a green space with jaffa oranges exported all over. In 1988 the PNC declared a Palestinian state, it was recognised by more than 100 countries. more than israel. For your information, Israel can not last in this region without the state of Palestine existing beside it. And a majority of the Palestinians want their independent state on the 1967 borders, next to israel. this is the israeli choice. by the way, isaweyeh was occupied in 1967.
74. arab taxi drivers with murder with their cars on their mind
JO   (11.05.10)
this will make me think twice before getting in a taxi with an Arab driver. I never thought twice before.
75. Palestinian Terrorism
Louis Fried ,   Woodbridge, Canada   (11.05.10)
An excellent example of the true intentions and mindset of the Palestinian people. These were inncoent civilians in an automobile who lost their way and were almost killed. Where are those organizations such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International that decry violence and the unwarranted use of force??
76. Erase all ilegal homes in Issawiya.
Tomi ,   Serbia   (11.05.10)
If Jihadist Muslim fanatics realise that in this country, they wont be imune to do whatever they whish, they wont do it. The first step should be to erase all ilegal houses in Issawiya!
77. Issawiya Ambush
Ameridane ,   Aarhus, denmark   (11.05.10)
You are wrong!- Issawiya is in Denmark, to be more precise in Gellerup Parken, Aarhus. It is a high quality Ghetto where young and not so young live and compete with Issawiya. They burn down schools, nurseries and the odd 40 to 50 cars a year. They ambush the police, Ambulances, and the Fire-bridade. The Police won't even arrest themas it might start a riot. Taxis (unless the drivers are Muslim) won't even drive there. Young thugs terrorise the neighbourhood. It is not even worth going into details because of the crime rate. 47% of ALL Palestinian families have been involved in crime No, my Scotish friend, the Palestinians have turned Europe into Issawiya and that's only the beginning
78. to#73. Palestine pre 1948
JO2   (11.05.10)
The Palestine Currency Board was appointed in 1926 by the British Secretary of State for the Colonies- Palestine was governed by Britain, and was never a sovereign country on it's own, the currency Palestinian Pound was created by said authority. Arabs of that time never called themselves Palestinians, Jews did. This is all well documented. Arab Mayers, maybe in some areas but a real sovereign State of Palestine,No, never. After the Ottomans, Jordan was then also Palestine and only made a state of it's own by Britain when? Premandate the Ottoman's ruled, before, Arab conquests yes but also Crusaders, and then we go on to ancient times and texts...... I am sorry but data does not back you up. Tell me do you know of the thriving Jewish community of Gaza in the 16th century??
79. Most of the countries in the world
Ariel Neuman ,   Ramat Gan   (11.05.10)
Were created in the last 50 or 60 years, were there had never been such a country before. Palestine will be one more of them.
80. This is happening where? In the Jewish capital.
Anthony Stephans ,   Jerusalem   (11.05.10)
Shameful and disgusting,The police have to start cracking down on these hooligans, before it gets out of hand.Cut the softly softly bull shit.Crack a few skulls, and make them pay for the damage to the car and for pain and suffering of the passengers .WAKE UP.
81. #73 You're joshing, aren't you ?
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL/USA   (11.05.10)
Palestine Pound was "BRITISH MANDATE MONEY", printed in English, Hebrew & Arabic, Manufactured in England, you didn't hae a mint to make the money--There was no National Palestinian Government, all you had were some local mayors 1967 Borders, were the very borders you violated after you had rejected the first UN Partition borders of 1948, when 5 Arab armies attacked Israel Then came the Greenline Borders, agreed to at Rhodes in '49, that was also trashed by Arab armies that again violated them What were the borders of your fictional Palestine, the name of it's ruler of king where can we see some authentic artifacts of Palestinian origin that pre-date the Jewish ones in the museum's You're crying of milk you spilled yourself
82. Miseducated Issawiite youth
Hilde ,   Norway   (11.05.10)
I used to live close to Issawiya when I studied at Hebrew University, being a foreign student. I usually avoided using the road leading into Issawiya. I recall though a couple of times when youth harassed me. Scary. Someone should teach those kids a bit about respecting others.
83. 4. The Nazis were in agreement with you.
Truth   (11.05.10)
However, today we are a free people living in our own land, the land of Zion and Jerusalem. We are not in fear of you or your kind. We will NEVER die quietly in the night again.
84. 33.
(11.05.10)
A. you obviously don't have a CLUE about the USA...or you are simply one who doesn't care if truth and accuracy are involved in their comments. B. You are truely confused. The ONLY Jerusalem on Earth is in aretz ISRAEL. Am Israel Chai.
85. 53. u r clueless!
(11.05.10)
86. 43 years ago…
Henning ,   Copenhagen, Denmark   (11.06.10)
…in June of 1967, I came to Israel with two friends to work in a kibbutz. At a swimming pool in West Jerusalem, where young Arab boys came to swim for the first time in their lives and in particular to marvel at bikini-clad Israeli girls, we and my Israeli cousin befriended three teenage boys from Issawiya. They invited us to have lunch with them at their home, and the following day, they picked us up at The King David Hotel, from where we walked to their village. With their family, we ate a gorgeous meal, spent a couple of hours, and then they walked us back to West Jerusalem. I wonder what has happened in the meantime, since the atmosphere has changed so profoundly…
87. Poverty, Racial Segregation & Discrimination
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (11.06.10)
Poverty, racial segregation and discrimination can be a potent mix anywhere in the world, especially when the racial majority pens up the minority is certain areas and limits their options. Glenn in Santa Monica - When was the last time you cruised Watts and South or East LA at night? Has Linda Rivera ever visited Harlem at night? Any white readers ever been to the Projects on the South side of Chicago? Arne Redman, I lived on Crawford Ave in Skokie. Have you ever been to the Projects in Chicago? Ever visited the Robert Taylor homes at night? Or do you limit your nightly excursions to Evanston, the north side?
88. #21 - you ignore context to make your accusations
William ,   Israel   (11.06.10)
a typical modus operandi for a person who doesn't have a real argument in the first place. 1) The 18-month old child was killed by ACCIDENT, and by tear gas that wasn't thrown at his home. 2) The violent riots that caused the need for tear gas came directly from Apartheid-supporting people on the Left like you, and the Arabs in that neighborhood. Clearly, their kids matter to them less than giving their violence an outlet. 3) First, Arabs wouldn't get lost in settlements because they are not on the way to anywhere, unlike Issawiya, and second, they are clearly marked, unlike Issawiya. Many Arabs have ventured into settlements accidentally, and were escorted away in peace. Hell, Lebanese even venture across the border accidentally and make it home alive. Unfortunately, to the Arabs their reason to live (but die as a shahid) is because Israel exists. Sadly, that isn't going to change.
89. #20 - you accept the ethnic cleansing of 1948?
William ,   Israel   (11.06.10)
Because if you believe these people in Issawiya are "oppressed and occupied" then you seem to be condoning a historical injustice that ethnically cleansed Jews from homes in E. Jerusalem in 1948. And if these people are so "oppressed and occupied" how come many of them ran from West Bank to be part of the Israeli Jerusalem envelope? I equally have Israeli and "Palestinian" friends who believe Jerusalem should remain united (as it was before Arabs launched their illegal war) and under Israeli jurisdiction where co-existence and equality exist.
90. #33 - what do you mean "if"?
William ,   Israel   (11.06.10)
"if 4 people entered from mexico to California illegaly" What do you mean "if"? This happens all the time, and no one is shot. However, while the US and Mexico are countries, you are not. Only Israel is a sovereign nation - according to the UN and many legitimate maps - and they rule united Jerusalem as their capital. So, your analogy is a bit wrong. Rather - it would be like someone from West London accidentally entering East London and being attacked by supremacist Muslims for being "outsiders". The London police have full right to go in and kick major ass, except they're too afraid to do it. But you get the point.
