Eilat is a disaster - the entire downtown area has turned into Africa. The population of Eilat is now approx. 12-15% illegal migrants. I have an idea, however. Rather than send them back to Africa, why not conscript them into the IDF & create military settlements in Judea & Samaria. The deal is that if they want to stay here, they have to contribute & defend the country. Those that refuse should be deported.

Like Liberman Shas are not very good at the use of diplomacy but the basic fact is that these Africans are becoming a growing problem. Tel Aviv & Eilat especially have already had areas taken over by fillipinos with no money most of them illegals and now we have the Africans moving in, most of whom are not real refugees but looking for the good life. Even the real refugees will pass through safe countries to get to Israel because Israel is the country of choice to start over in rather than just the nearest safe country. We need to make ourselves less attractive to these people and take a hard line that applies to the illagl workers as well. Israel is a small country with a population of around 7 million so 100,00 would b a substantial percentage of the population. They come to the country with no money and most with no skills so they will be taking out the economy and be inputting very little. Their children will take up spaces in schools which are already overstretched and under funded so Israeli kids will suffer. As these people have no money and are an underclass many will commit crime so that cost society money. Israel must stop the attitude of we are jews and because of what happened in the Holocaust to jews then we should open our arms to anybody who comes along looking for a new life. Real refugees should be dealt with at a regional level and Israel will set a limit on the number of refugees it will take in a year and turn the rest away and anybody who enters the country illegally will not be treated as a refugee and deported. They want to be a refugee they must formerly request asylum and they should also be held un detention facilities until their case can be investigated. We have two options on the kind of direction we want this country to go in. 1) A jewish state 2) A haven for everybody from the third world wanting a better life

Like any other country we are allowed and indeed must decide to stop this dangerous infiltration which will only damage our society. The situation is similar in Eilat - the illegals work in the hotels & other menial jobs. As a matter of fact, an African fellow cleans the building I live in. But, there is a limit to the number of migrants a small town like Eilat can absorb. I think we have reached that limit but the supply of illegals is unlimited. I cannot comment on the situation in Tel Aviv re: crime by migrants. Here in Eilat, there is no crime wave by Africans. But, poor unskilled illegals who cannot find work has the potential of becoming a serious problem in the future. A few years ago, when I first made Aliyah to Eilat, olim found jobs at the hotels. This is no longer possible. Similarly, unskilled poorly educated young Israelis (and there are plenty in Eilat) no longer find jobs. However, I will make one comment - we can all discuss this issue from every point of view but I think we all know that the gov't. will do absolutely nothing. Nothing. A little blah, blah, blah, some political grandstanding, but no action will be taken.
