Unfortunately, the matters being confused here are being vastly muddled. #11 seems to have read legal residents with some sort of refugee status who are legally able to seek gainful employment. While a slew of you are under the impression that Ynet's misuse of the term refugee means "one escaping persecution." This definition does not extend to escaping economic problems of a home nation so non-classified foreigners are simply not refugees. Furthermore, MK Katz does not extend his warning to dark skinned people including the naturalized population of the State of Israel so every comment throwing up their hands in outrage over racial discrimination of Apartheid proportions is just simply wrong. All nations have the legal right to set laws about lawful immigration and the handling of illegal aliens found within their borders. I think many of us would be shocked to learn other nations protocols for removal of foreign nationals... that is what someone with no status as a refugee is. Enlisting them to help defend the Jewish nation is a wonderful idea. The only caveat would be to ensure their loyalty, as well as their dedication to their task. Have them at a minimum affirm their commitment to Israel as a Jewish, democratic nation. And also train them well so that when the fighting starts, they will remain at their posts or in their formations. Asking them if they wish to convert - this is something I've been harping on for a while now. If they are committed to Israel, perhaps our new neighbors would take that logical step and officiall join the family of Israel. It just makes sense. In addition, I should mention that true Christians - the ones who know and believe the Scriptures - will support the Jewish nation of Israel. So first invite them to convert (NO pressure, this would have to be their choice, and do note that this is not something that one does on a whim), and then ask if they will commit to support of Israel as a Jewish, democratic nation. If either is the case, welcome them. And then get rid of the others immediately. THEN everyone would be fine.
