1. My triglycerides levels dropped from the 500+ danger zone
Rivkah   (11.09.10)
to the normal zone after I stopped eating donuts. Believe me, bagels are healthier.
2. Doughnuts
yehuda ,   har hevron, israel   (11.09.10)
are disgusting every day of the year.
3. It has nothing to do with Isr pallete but with
svietka from shomron   (11.09.10)
TRADITION! country goes wild for jelly doughnuts once a year AND that is exactly why we dont enjoy doughnuts all year round-just like we dont light hanuka candles all year around, or shabat candles all week, or have gefilte fish or make haroset or eat apple soaked in honey-TRADITION. we enjoy the idea of anticipating special foods that r traditionally connected to our holidays-that is exactly why dohnuts will probably not succeed again. Even though i do looooove french curl myself and would have it every day-and not even gona mention Boston creme:)
4. First donuts, then pizzas and muffins
rnathans00 ,   Washington, USA   (11.09.10)
Add these to the existing fast food infrastructure and in no time Israelis will be as obese as Americans. Maybe the high cost (NIS 5-7 each) will dissuade folks from over indulging. One can hope.
5. Dunkin' Doughnuts ain't Krispy Kremes!!
Rachel ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (11.09.10)
6. Dunkin Donuts at Rabin Square were great
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (11.09.10)
7. dunkin donuts
sas ,   israel   (11.10.10)
in the far east they also have bagels and cheese on their menu!!
8. Just love plain donuts with confectionery
miri ,   israel   (11.10.10)
sugar - and a good cup of coffee - used to buy them in a box in NY - toppings mentioned just too rich for my blood - or for that matter - everyone's !
9. most the american food chains have failed in israel
zionist forever   (11.10.10)
DUNKING DONUTS STARBUCKS BURGER KING Non of them have managed to break into the Israeli market and even the mighty McDonalds and the likes of Pizza Hut have only had limited sucess. I think one of the main problems for these companies is that Israel has such a varied population all with different tastes and there are not enough people wanting these products to make the business profitable.
10. Really?
Lauryn ,   New York, US   (11.10.10)
Americans have the most unhealthy diet, yet you want to expand it to Israel? How greedy and selfish, thinking of nothing but money in your own pocket. (Plus, just because things sell once a year doesn't mean they should/would year round. Ie. macaroons are a huge item at Passover but are rarely eaten other times.)
11. dunkin donuts
debbie ,   israel   (11.10.10)
I remember dunkin donuts in israel well. The reasons for their failure in my opinion was: 1) much higher prices than in the u.s. 2) sickening concoctions - most of them covered in variations of pink icing and jimmies. UGH! It seemed they wanted to appeal to children but not to adults. 3) They kept them too long. Dunkin Donuts in the US prided themselves on FRESH donuts. The Israeli version were only fresh early in the morning. After that they were stale. I quite often had to send them back. The french crullers were always stale.
12. 180-240 calories?
Yossi ,   Ra'anana   (11.10.10)
I am doubtful the calorie range shown is accurate - I believe it's much higher. I wish this guy well but people should avoid donuts - they are detrimental to good health.
13. Not worth the investment
BH ,   Iowa   (11.11.10)
It' would be wonderful to bring American products to Israel, but it simply isn't a good business decision. Consider the added costs of operations halfway around the world to serve a greatly overtaxed population roughly twice that of Iowa.
14. Doughnuts are already here...
David ,   Hod HaSharon   (11.11.10)
I've noticed an increase in doughnuts at local bakeries, especially the pink ring type that Homer Simpson might enjoy. Is eating a Doughnut unhealthier than three cheese or pizza bourekas? I'm not sure.
15. doughnuts vs health
freda k   (11.16.10)
if one goes on the assumption that unhealthy food is better in some way...then yes, thank you Norman for thinking of our 'welfare' are bringing this, may I be frank?, junk, to Israel. It's not like we don't have enough problems with malnutrition or just plain bad food choices...give us a break, will ya?
16. Dunkin' Donuts is failing in the US too
Granny ,   Vermont, USA   (02.14.11)
When Dunkin' first came on the scene in the US (putting most of the other local donut shops out of business in the process) they really did make their donuts on site, fresh every single hour or two. Then it was every day. Now most stores do not even make their own donuts. My daughter brought home a dozen a week or two ago (cost - $8!) and every single one of them was stale - and I do not mean a little bit stale, I mean a couple of days old, with hard frosting and crunchy edges. There is nothing better than a great donut, but we've bought the last Dunkin' Donut we will ever buy.
