1. Bibster is testing the admin. saying I got congress
Dan   (11.09.10)
now, what are you going to do??
2. Go Bibi!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.09.10)
"The construction, which has been a bone of contention in the international community ..." East Jerusalem was formally annexed on June 27, 1967. That means that it is a part of the sovereign State of Israel. It is not the business of any member of the international community to question any construction decisions that Israel may choose to make on its sovereign soil. The concept is called "eminent domain." Israel does not question construction decisions made by the British in London, the French in Paris or anyone else, anywhere else. Prime Minister Netanyahu is quite correct in toughening his stance. Internal policies concerning real estate development and construction within Israel are Israel's business, and ONLY Israel's business. If that disappoints the "international community," too bad. Somehow, they'll just have to find a way to deal with their chagrin.
3. Jerusalem, DC (Jerusalem, David's City) has been the capital
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.09.10)
city of the Jewish people for more than 3,000 years, ever since King David set it up as the administrative and spiritual center of a people - the Jewish people - and its civilization - Judaism. Legally, Jerusalem is presently part of the sovereign state of Israel and its capital city. This is so, legally speaking, based on the San Remo Conference, 1920; the League of Nations decisions, 1922 and the fact that historically and legally Jerusalem has not been part of any sovereign power since 1918, when the Ottoman Empire fell.
4. To #1 - can't you read???
David   (11.09.10)
Even during the 10 months halt Bibi said that it doesn't apply to Jerusalem which has the Israeli law unlike the west bank. He even had a dispute with Baden about it in March, MUCH BEFORE the republicans took over the Congress. Evidently, the truth is never an issue for you Arab / Arab supporters.
5. Idiot Obama shot himself in the foot...
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.09.10)
when he ever made the settlements and Jerusalem bones of contention.
6.  Good move,well said!
Mikha ,   Msa,Kenya   (11.09.10)
Jerusalem is best in Jewish hands than in muslim Arab regimes. The merits for Jewish capital far out weigh the Arab wishful thinking. Before the nation of Israel came out of Mizraim there was no nation with Jerusalem as its capital. Israel was established by awesome power and Jerusalem became the unity capital.Even after the destruction and exile no nation declared a state therein. After Israelis return from the diaspora bearing scars, they find these desert nomads so-called palestinians. After rebuilding the state these nomads now want a state...with J'lem as their capital! Surely no Jewish leader should even dream to be the one to cede the eretz Israel with a signature and a handshake.Israel should know that not all the world citizens are ignorant of the plain facts.
7. He looks good in that picture
Israeli 2   (11.09.10)
He finally got that audacity smile and a darn excellent reply.
8. Prime Minister Netanyahu, his party & Mayor Barkat...
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (11.09.10)
need to stop treating Jerusalem as if it were a settlement and then they won't need to have Prime Minister Netanyahu sound off with this sort of ludicrous and daft sound bite!!
9. I have to admit, Bibi is right on this one!
Salma, Palestine   (11.09.10)
Although it is very difficult for me to admit this (!), Bibi is absolutely correct on this one! However, me still have to look how we can establish a Palestinian State within the Jewish State!
10. 4 - Don't be naive 1 is right on the money.
Victor   (11.09.10)
The timing of this was planned so Bib can mobilize the new troops and give them a an issue to conflict with the admin. There is no if or buts on this one.
11. Tell Obama where to go, like U.S. voters did.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.09.10)
There was never any good reason for Bibi to appease Obama. Obama's demands on Israel are ludicrous and clearly signal his hostility, if not outright hatred, of Israel. Now that America has spoken and delivered Obama a stunning rebuke, there is no excuse to continue the sick appeasement. Let us tell Obama where to go, like U.S. voters did.
12. #9 Capital of "Palestine" was always..
Avi ,   Israel   (11.09.10)
a losing proposition, anyway. Glad to see you've wised up a bit.
13. sorry dude, you are mistaken
Ahmad ,   Nablus   (11.09.10)
according to the 1947 partition plan, which is the only official birth certificate israel uses to legitimize its questionable existance, East and West Jerusalem are international zone, not in the Plan as an Israeli city nor as part of the Jewish state. again , when it was capture in 1967, the entire world did not recongize the Israeli annexation, thereofore, you can call it your capital and eternal..blah balh blah until you are blue in the face, but that wont change the harsh (to BiBi) reality that the city is occupied, and all what Israel is doing is illegal settlement activities...poor bibi, some one wakes him up!
14. Obama is an idiot
Dan ,   Titusville, FL   (11.09.10)
Obama could not define Jihad when queried by Indian students terrified of Islamic violence. In Mumbai, Obama deliberatly avoided the Chabad House where unspeakable horrors were committed by the Islamic terrorists and instead Obama went to honor a hotel. In Indonesia he plans to pray at a Mosque. Now he criticizes Israel for building in OUR eternal UNDIVIDED Capitol liberated from Islamic tyranny. We are all ashamed by this incompetent President who will allow Iran to gain a nuclear weapon.
15. #13. Sorry, dude. "Palestine" is a fictional land.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.09.10)
#13. Sorry, dude, it's time for you to wake up. Why waste the rest of your life waiting for an event that will never happen? Israel is real. Israel has rightfully belonged to Jews for more than 3,500 years. "Palestine" is nothing more than a geographic term, like "Eurasia". There has never been a "Palestine" nation and never will be, in Judea and Samaria. It is fictional, like Atlantic, Oz and Neverland.
16. Jerusalem is the 'king' of settlements!
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (11.09.10)
Why give settlements a bad name? Jerusalem was established as Israel's first major capital, over 3000 years ago, when King David decided to live there. Any place where someone settles is a settlement. Don't delegitamize Israel's settlement enterprise by even allowing others to think that everywhere else is unimportant. However, Jerusalem certainly is our most dearest capital, and is beyond the grasp of mortal men to carelessly play with its fate.
17. Bibi, that's the way!
Gab's ,   Montreal, Canada   (11.09.10)
How many times we mention the word JERUSALEM in the thorah, history says it all, negotiate for something that belong to us for 1000 and 1000 years? What can of a deal is this? Obama next time you will negotiate Haifa, Tel Aviv...so you can please all your arabs friends. Israel is a sovereign state, LET ISRAEL handle it, Obama and all others MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS! ! ! AM ISRAEL HAI
18. To: No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.09.10)
The Jews accepted partition; the Arabs did not. The Arabs chose to go to war instead, and got their asses kicked. Got their asses kicked five additional times, too. Guess what, ace? Since you did NOT accept partition, you have no right to draw on what partition entailed. Besides, no Jews were permitted in your so-called "international" Jerusalem between 1948 and 1967. In fact, in 1948, the Jordanians expelled every Jew living in Judea and Samaria and dynamited forty-eight synagogues in Jerusalem alone. Since the Arabs never adhered to the concept of an "international" Jerusalem -- claiming that they were not bound by partition because they did not accept partition -- then for you to claim any right under a partition that you did NOT accept is beyond ludicrous. Jerusalem has been unified. It is the eternal capital of the State of Israel. If you do not like it, you are free to leave Schehem at any time.
19. #5 I disagree
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.09.10)
Obama never wanted peace or negotiations. He wanted to delegitimize and isolate Israel as the first step in implementing Reverend Wright's sermons. Netanyahu fell into the trap by agreeing to the freeze that gained Israel nothing.
20. Unhelpful
Max ,   Washington DC   (11.09.10)
What is really unhelpful to achieving Peace is the Palestinians refusal to negotiate and make the necessary compromises that will bring Peace. The PA and their supporters need to recognize that Jerusalem is the undivided Capital of Israel and no other entity can have sovereignty!
21. Yeah, and I see no connection
(11.09.10)
between a brain and Netanyahu's head.
22. The state department is the #1 enemy of Israel in the US!
(11.09.10)
23. :: Keep it up Bibi!
Matty Groves ,   Fairport   (11.09.10)
Keep working against a peace agreement with the Palestinian People by unilaterally building illegally in E Jerusalem and the WB. Keep refusing to finalize borders, a resolve to the Palestinian refugee problem, etc. Keep ignoring the condemnation from across the world. Keep insisting that Israel has every right to ignore International Laws. Keep it up Bibi as all you are doing is hastening the day when the Palestinians unilaterally declare statehood and the rest of the world will heartily approve because they are sick and tired of Israeli arrogance and obstinacy.
24. To: Israel Israeli at No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.09.10)
I respectfully beg to disagree. By agreeing to the freeze, Netanyahu showed himself to be a willing partner for peace. It may not have meant much to the Europeans or to Hussein Obama, but it did not escape the notice of the American electorate. It is Abbas that is the big loser in this one. Israel has said that it will not extend the freeze -- emphasis on the word "extend" -- and whatever the American administration may say or think, vox populi in the United States is saying things along the lines of "Ten months was long enough; the PA should not have waited until the last possible moment and then complain when Israel declines to extend." Israel 1 PA 0 There's a surprise!
25. it can also be said that...
seadog1946 ,   Shooter's Island, NJ   (11.10.10)
"Every US government in the last 210 years has settled and built in all parts of the continental US and placed it's native populations in reservations so as not to imperil/impede settlers. During this period, peace agreements were signed with many many nations all the while allowing the US to pursue it's manifest destiny." Israel should ignore international condemnation and be the sole master of it's destiny.
26. Bibi drop the other shoe
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.10.10)
Not only is Jerusalem not a settlement, nor are we colonists, nor are we subservient to America. These facts need to communicated to America and the rest of the world.
27. Obama and his AntiSemite stooges
Brod ,   USA   (11.10.10)
Israel needs to tell them NO and to stop meddling in Israel's internal affairs. They are AntiSemites. They do NOT represent Judeo-Christian America that supports Israel. Israel should continue building not just in Jerusalem by in Israel's LIBERATED HISTORIC HOMELAND OF JUDEA AND SAMARIA-LAND OF ISRAEL. It is your GOD-GIVEN and GOD-RESTORED Homeland. Build, Build and Build. Don't waste time talking with the dark forces. They use the forum to trash Israel to the world.
28. Settlements a red herring and NOT the issue
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.10.10)
The construction issue is simply an easy excuse for all parties involved to avoid reality. The truth is that the Palestinians are incapable of signing a peace treaty. Erekat's statement yesterday of a unilateral declaration of independence only shows how ridiculous the Palestinian position is. Where are they going to declare independence? In Ramallah or Gaza City or both? The truth is that the two-state solution has mutated into the two-state Palestine solution: Fatahstan in the west bank and Hamastan in Gaza. Obama, Bibi and Fatah have conveniently "forgotten" (they know it, they just won't say it) that Hamas overthrew Fatah in a bloody coup in Gaza that left hundreds dead. Fatah and Hamas cannot and will not reconcile. Hamas is ideologically opposed to peace with Israel. They will NEVER sign a peace treat. Their leaders keep saying so. So why is "peace" linked to "settlements" when peace cannot be achieved even if the settlements all suddenly disappeared? Hamas refuses peace with Israel. Fatah will not sign a peace treaty that doesn't include Gaza. Peace at this time is NOT achievable.
29. too bad, you seem to live on the moon....
