1. i thought professors were supposed to be smart?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.15.10)
i guess dumb is not excluded from any profession.
2. Who is this petty little man?
Sally Forth ,   Jerusalem of course!   (11.15.10)
Is he really a professor? On what authority does he begin the serious delegitimization process of the duly and democratically elected Prime Minister of the State of Israel Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu? What is the basis for his incitement against the Prime Minister of the State of Israel? and if this is how it begins again (yes, again for we have all already been at this movie and saw how it ended on 04 November 1995) how will this latest delegitimization of an Israeli Prime Minister end? But really why is it that whenever a segment of the Israeli Right disagrees with a leader of the State or with a policy of the Government of the State they feel that it is correct and proper to attack on a personal level and foment hatred towards the people they disagree with?
3. The Prime Minister is Jewish!
MM   (11.15.10)
The Prime Minister may be a great many things and he may not be a great many other things...but the Prime Minister of the State of Israel has a Jewish mother and comes from a long line of noble Jewish ancestors...and so the Prime Minister is a Jew!
4. I agree with Weis: 100%
Israeli 2   (11.15.10)
5. Professor Hillel Weiss hasnt heard of International la
Avi ,   Israel   (11.15.10)
so it would seem, i think if he checks it out sometime he might just find that it is illegal to build on illegaly occupied land.
6. I agree with Weiss
wissam ,   Palestine   (11.15.10)
settlers should declare war on Israel and attack seculars everywhere! Start with arsnoning Tel Aviv beaches!!
7. Prof. Weiss: Perhaps PM was never a Jew?
Talula ,   Israel   (11.15.10)
And maybe, "Prof" Weiss is under a misapprehension of what Judaism really is. His arrogant, unprofessional and overbearing approach to just about anything that he doesn’t agree with causes him to act like a like a spoilt petulant imbecile. As with all religious people, they think they are on such a higher moral ground than the rest of us – but the truth is, they absolutely are not. They are all brainwashed Zombies who can’t think for themselves – they also can’t see past the end of their nose – because God doesn’t allow it. They make me sick. Not everyone has to agree with the what the government decides, but we chose to live here, for better or for worse - suck it up "Professor" !
8. DIVIDE AND CONQUER -
Arn, ,   Sweden.   (11.15.10)
THAT IS THE TACTIC OF THE EVIL ONE, TO REACH THE STRATEGIC GOAL OF CONQUERING ISRAEL. THIS TACTICAL SPIRIT ORIGINATES FROM THE PRECIDENT OF THE US, AN USEFUL IDIOT OF THE EVIL ONE IN THIS SENSE.. LETS WAIT AND SE IF THE ISRAELI PM WILL CAUSE HIS OWN DOWNFALL FOLLOWING SUITE. Arn.
9. Dear brainwashed Avi
Allon   (11.15.10)
He doesn't care about the 'international law' that didn't seem to exist between 1939 and 1945, and only seemed to really ripen around 1948 to prevent Jews from living in their homeland. He's heard of international law, and asks who gave it authority over Israel?
10. okay then
David ,   Haifa Israel   (11.15.10)
as a religious zionist i support the settlers for the most part. you all do not want to pay taxes and support the jewish entitiy here... fine. no army no protection no eceltricity.. nothing from us in Israel. Idiot!! I am most happy that you do not represent the views of most of us. IDIOT!!!
11. The poor professor.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (11.15.10)
Poor fellow seems to have lost his marbles.
12. The Professor is being easy on bibi
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.15.10)
bibi was not elected to be the puppet of b.o. and hitlery clinton. The territory is ours, not arab. We were here before islam and we will be here when islam is gone. Why doesn't bibi tell the U.S. not to build on Native American land? Why doesn't bibi demand Israel's right to raze illegal arab building and land grabs, both in Israel and the liberated territories. What Weis should have said is the fact that Israel has cowards in the coalition and the opposition. They are too stupid to realize the jihadist in the White House is the biggest enemy to the Jews since hitler. Also the biggest threat to the U.S.
13. Legal meat to Prof. Weiss' bone
E.   (11.15.10)
Prof. Weiss should cite the potential legal basis for the claim that the Jewish residents can claim sovereignty if Israel does not want to: 1) I believe Dr. Jacques Gauthier in his 1000+ page thesis stated that not only the residents living in Eretz Israel but world Jewry have a legal not merely political claim to the land based on the Mandate, 2) Att. Howard Grief in a recent public letter stated if Israel does not want sovereignty it devolves on the Jewish people for the same reason. 3) I read an article a while back that states that outposts are more in in accord with the Geneva Convention than Isr settlements because outposts were established without the authority of the Israeli government 4) The Oslo/freeze barring Jewish growth/movement would seem to violate provisions of the Geneva Convention 5) the Geneva Accord states that "protected persons" are people who happen to be in a territory for "any reason" with the exception of one's own residents and residents of allied countries. 6) Therefore, it is an untested contention that if the Jewish residents in Judea and Samaria renounced all citizenship and became stateless people, Israel would be legally barred from expelling them according to international human rights law and arguably these Jewish residents even have a legal claim to sovereignty. 7) If you are a pro-settlement lawyer please appraise these arguments and know your rights. I would luv to hear if these arguments are valid.
14. Additional Proof
Joe ,   Israel   (11.15.10)
Prof Weiss's statements are support for the argument that knowlege in one field of academia does not necessarily extend to other fields or activities. In this he joins the artists and academics who engage in boycotts based upon political motivations.. His opinions in matters other than literature, should carry the same weight as those of a taxi driver in Tel Aviv who maybe an expert in navigating the streets, but whose political opinions are but breaths of wind.
15. An impassioned but ridiculous professor
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.15.10)
who serves to divide us when what we most need is a strong internal union. In the meantime, as I have posted elsewhere, the professor serves Bibi's needs as he can point to the growing hostility within Israel to construction freezes while the USA and western European democracies become increasingly impatient with the "liberal" left. Given the increasing western impatience with their internal Muslim populations, terrorism, political bribery, refusal to integrate or contribute, time, even just three months, is on our side and Bibi recognizes this. By the end of this three-month period, we will be in a much stronger position.
16. BINYAMIN NETANYAHU IS JEWISH BECAUSE HIS PARENTS ARE JEWISH
DAVID JACOBS ,   HASMONAIM, ISRAEL   (11.15.10)
Binyamin Netanyahu is burying the ideology of his parents. Benzion is in mourning while his son is selling out the country. Bibi you must stop your suicidal concessions before it is too late. With Love of Israel David Jacobs
17. Dear Clueless Allon #9
Avi ,   Israel   (11.15.10)
Sorry but your arguement is pathetic at the very least. According to International law United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 Israel is in breach of International law which forbids an occupying force to build on that land, naturally the very same law Israel thinks it can pick and choose from. The games up buddy its time to face the reality, the occupied terrotries will be handed back to the Palestinians. The setters can stay where they are and will be issued with a Palestinian passport .
18. Expecting Jews, as Obama does, only because they are Jewish,
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (11.15.10)
to refrain from conducting their normal affairs, move in and build their homes in villages, towns and city neighborhoods of their ancestral homeland is nothing short of racism, anti-Jewish racism. Sadly, not only Obama, with a built-in hostility to the nation-state of the Jewish people and therefore to the people whose nation-state Israel is is contaminated by this form of racism. His Secretary of State, Clinton, appears to be touched by the same illness. It is high time for a change of mindset in America, to prevent the influence of people such as Rev,. J.Wright, L.Farakhan, E.Said and R.Khalidi on the White House and on Foggy Bottom.
19. David from Haifa
Allon   (11.15.10)
Most Yishuvniks served in army, many of them high up and in Sayeretim, you don't think they're capable of protecting themselves? Electricity? They're already working on providing their own, and - Idiot! - you didn't even bother reading what he said - any services Israel would be willing to sell we would buy. Yishuvniks would manage fine on their own - and you wouldn't have to deal with the arab problem. You should be really suportive.
20. "Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right...
(11.15.10)
here I am stuck in the middle with you!" the line from this song is relevant as it sums up the attacks on the Prime Minister of Israel. Yesterday Prime Minister Netanyahu was attacked by the New York Times (leftist orientation - the clowns in the above quote) today he's attacked by this Weiss person (extreme right winger - the joker in the above quote) So which is it? Is the Prime Minister to soft and bowing to the right wingers or is he to soft and bowing to the left wingers? or is this all a carefully orchestrated campaign by some "deep throat" in the Prime Minister's office who is striving to move attention here there and everywhere so that attention doesn't fall on investigating what is really going on in Israel today?
21. Beyond the pale
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (11.15.10)
This madman is teaching our youth? Shame on Bar Ilan University for allowing him to have free rein. Tenured, fine. He cannot be dismissed. But disciplined? Censured? Distanced from his lunatic statements? Why not?
22. wonderful !
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.15.10)
If they want to separate themselves from the State of Israel, it would be the best thing that could possibly happen to us. Good riddance !!
23. Allon-- #19
David ,   Haifa Israel   (11.15.10)
like i said i support the settlers. We should build. I do not support idiotic comments. the world wants us to fight internally... they want us to go away... comments like this fuel anti zionism.
24. Brilliant!
Shmuel ,   Jerusalem   (11.15.10)
Kol hakavod, Michael. Let them start their own principality, with their own militia (NO IDF risking their lives for these people!), their own tax system, their own foreign policy. The big winner- ERETZ YISRAEL.
25. king solomon gave away land and no one in the bible objected
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.15.10)
ever. and he is still praised as one of israel's greatest kings, no question about his "jewishness" or anything of the sort. yet all of a sudden giving away land promised to abraham, isaac, jacob, etc is an unpardonable sin. why not stick some more words in the mouth of moses and make an addition to the talmud stating it is forbidden to do? that sort of thing has been done countless times and is the backbone of judaism, why not do it now and make it retroactively universal?
26. #25 let me explain
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.15.10)
The problem isn't really giving away land. The indisputable fact is that establishing a new Arab state will lead the the end of Israel and the extermination of the Jews. You might have noticed the water shortage? What will happen in the "best case" when you transfer 90% of your water supply (Judea, Samaria, Golan) to the Arabs and they import 4 million people? They will need to drink, what will you drink? How will you water your crops? And what happens in the next war? Current optimistic scenarios are that Israel will only have tens of thousands of dead civilians from Hezbolla and Hamas. What happens when they control Judea and Samaria and can aim the rockets? And shut down all the airports? Or send commando teams to attack anywhere with no possible IDF response? And what happens if Iran nukes you? If you have Judea and Samaria, a single nuke will kill between 40000 and 100000 Jews, but the country will survive. If you don't have Judea and Samaria Israel will cease to exist.
27. Dear Clueless Avi # 17
Laurence, Lawyer ,   Israel   (11.15.10)
Sorry but your arguement is pathetic and prooves that your are ignorant . Israel's borders under international law were determined more than twenty years prior to the establishment of the United Nations. The UN adopted the Mandate for Palestine in 1945. These borders remain the legal borders, and they include all of Judea and Samaria (the land the Jordanians called the West Bank in 1948) as well as all of Jerusalem. Despite the many UN resolutions against Israel, no legal action has or can revoke Israel's legal title to the land. Sorry but it's time for you to face the reality, the occupied terrotries by Arabs will be handed back to the Jews.
28. Great idea here
Jonathan ,   london/ Israel   (11.15.10)
Yes, create s seperate entity in the West bank and let the settlers sought things out for themselves, instead of being a liability and obstacle for the rest of the Jewish nation. Judea and Sumerea can then negotiate with the PA and Israel can get on with defending itself within it's borders and move towards peaceful existance.
29. Ha, ha, ha, hee, hee, hee. You voted for BeeBee!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (11.15.10)
Now let us see what Lieberman is going to do. Shas has been bought and the other right "whingers" have threatened to leave the Government and our Foreign Minister said a few days ago that there will be no "freeze". Don't worry your narrow minded little head, Professor. Netanyahu holds one thing more sacred than anything else - he wants to be Prime Minister forever so he will cave in to the right wing and the next vote in in the UN Sec Council against Israel will be very interesting!
30. 26 - and this has to do with his jewishness how??
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (11.15.10)
we all understand the strategy aspects, but that has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. what i said was in response to the point of the article and those talkbackers discussing the point of the article.
