Succes for the project to stop freeze. Israel only loses.
2. Freeze & $has
Avi The Builder ,   Eretz Yisrael   (11.15.10)
The problem is $has can & will be bought off the same way they are for every vote. Unfortunately they are political wh$$es.
3. Fight fire with fire
Rachel ,   US   (11.15.10)
The rebels ought to tell Shas, you stab us in the back on Judea we're return the favor on stipends. A stipend reform bill would pass overwhelmingly.
4. rebels
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.15.10)
I don't understood the term "rebel". Netanyahu wants to break his word, to violate the Likud constitution on which the Likud was elected and betray the Likud voters. People like Danny Danon are the ones who demand that Netanyahu follow the constitution and keep his promise to his voters. Netanyahu (and his unelected lackey Meridor) are the rebels.
5. What a circus
??? ,   Il   (11.15.10)
6. The right path.
John Prophett   (11.15.10)
The right path requires Israel hold the line!
7. CALL FOR A GENERAL STRIKE
RAYS ,   USA   (11.15.10)
This is a matter of national survival. It is time to call on the Jews of Israel to go on a general STRIKE Tuesday. Where are the Patriots? A PEACEFUL general strike might stop Bibi's surrender. What value Obama's promieses. He already has refused to recegnize those made by previous administrations.
8. Funny who talks to Shas when they need them.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (11.15.10)
9. #3 it's already been done
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.15.10)
Meretz, Kadima and Labor agreed to all Shas financial demands in exchange for supporting the freeze. They did it with Oslo I, they did it with Gush Katif. And don't call Shas wh***s. They believe that territory won't save Israel, but more Torah study. More cash to their students, more study.
10. Partition Inevitable, Palestine will be born soon
Lync ,   Palestine   (11.15.10)
Palestine's birth will usher in a prolonged period peace and stability. Arab institutions previously based in Cairo, Beirut, etc. should relocated to East Jerusalem, Capital of the new State of Palestine.
11. Is Lieberman resigning from the govt ?
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.15.10)
The deal must not be all bad.
12. Getting Shas to vote against freeze
Rabbi Yakov Lazaros ,   USA   (11.15.10)
The solution is simple. All they have to do is offer them more money to vote against the freeze, than Bibi is offering them to abstain.
13. His Royal holliness Ayaotollah Yosef
Avi ,   Israel   (11.15.10)
What a scary thought to think that the fete of the nation is in the hands of this cult leader, who uses religion as a means to abstract money from the goverment. Yosef who heads this organisation that included 8 convited criminals for crimes of fraud, theft and the aversion of justice.
14. Shas
JIm Brown ,   TN USA   (11.15.10)
Shas will support Bibi in exchange for more welfare.
15. The root of the matter: Foreign interference in Israel
Marcella   (11.15.10)
The Freeze is only a symptom of a much deeper problem: foreign interference in Israel. There are foreign consulates that operate as a shadow government by dictating policy to top administrators, by keeping track of citizens' attempts at building on their own land, and by funding activities that erode the sovereignty of the country. MKs must keep this in mind. They must fight to assert their sovereignty - with the right to build homes only one of many rights that are being threatened by foreign interference. The biggestg threat of all is the one to their borders. They must demand an end to the Partition Talks.
16. Rabbi Lazaros #12: What are you saying?
Steve   (11.15.10)
Great rabbis, even Chief Rabbis can be bought? They can be bribed? Even though Torah warns us not to take a bribe, rabbis take bribes?
17. A bunch of losers
Dovid ,   Petach Tikva   (11.15.10)
Nothings. Just obstructionists,
18. The failure of secular Jewish leadership
Marcel ,   Florida   (11.15.10)
The faithless court jester Jews have only one option and that is to follow the failed and cursed their false gods in Washington which will never lead to peace.
19. What an end to the Freeze REALLY MEANS
Marcella   (11.15.10)
If the Freeze ends, all it means is that YOU WILL BE BUILDING HOUSES FOR THE ARABS. Because right your PM has already agreed to the redrawing of Israel's borders for a Judenrein Judea, Samaria and East Jerusalem. All your efforts are painfully misguided. An end to the Freeze is of absolute no benefit to you IF YOU LOSE THE LAND!!!! End the Partition talks! They are a threat to the country and to your lives.
20. coming to crunch time
jonathan ,   london/ Israel   (11.15.10)
Finally we are getting to decision point. Either we go with Shas, Lieberman and the settlers or the faint remaining rational voice that may still have an opportunity to create a safe future for the Israeli nation.....
21. This shas rabbis is one you can't count on to worry more
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.15.10)
about Israel than his own group. Just give him more money for his yeshivas and buy his vote.
22. Problem: Torah and Tanach do not mean anything to Shas
Seppo ,   Finland   (11.15.10)
Torah commanded Israelis not to make any deals with the local inhabitants when they arrived from Egypt. Tanach speaks about the latter days. HaShem is bringing back to their homeland all the Jews he has dispersed abroad saying and THEY SHALL POSSESS THE LAND which I gave to their farthers. Either Shas dont believe in HaShems' skills to bring them back or disobey Him by giving away the land free, except to get a few stipend shekels. If you give out the land where do you think that the Jews still outside would come? According to New York Times Bibi has agreed already to give out all other settlements except several big settlements. That will not bring any peace only Obama's dream of Arab state inside Israel. Whom Bibi is betraying I dont know but Shas remind me of Esau who sold his birthright for a plate of soup. Anyway, I know that HaShem will fix things according to his will, He has told me so. He did not tell how so dont ask. What He expects is that His people follow His will. If you ask He tells. Obama's target is to distroy Israel and you want to make a deal with him.
23. #22 Seppo, thee of direct line to HaShem
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (11.15.10)
What is He saying about nuclear conflict these days?
24. Marcella #15: read Marcel #18
Steve Klein   (11.15.10)
It is indeed foreign interference in Israel, you are right. It is US interference in Israel's internal affairs. I believe the US is paying and will continue a heavy price for this bit of faithlessness. Every great world empire that has done-in the Jews has paid. Marcel is right however. Israel's leaders have no faith in Hashem. Sadly, our leader's god is in Washington. That is where this prime minister places his faith and his hope. He is bowing to Washington's (King Obama's) every demand. Israel is not some weak, second or third rate power. She is a mighty military power with a solid economy. God has blessed Israel. But there is no faith within Israel's leadership. Thus Israel is jerked around, back and forth, to-and-fro like a drunkard.
25. Better to tell ayatollah yusuf after his holiday
jason white ,   afula,israel   (11.15.10)
this week, that his sh-ass political party will not receive an agora from the government. They will be banned as a terrorist supporting group, all their institutions will be closed and then sold of to repay all the money they received from us. The likud should tell bibi that he is finished as their leader. We need a p.m. and not a lick spittle dog for the jihadist in the White House and his goon, hitlery clinton. Either that or the likud will go the the way of the labor party. They should realize that the enemies of Israel, labor, meretz and kadima support the freeze, then it is bad for Israel. Finally raze all illegal arab buildings in the territories. They have a lot of nerve to build on our Jewish land!
26. #24 Steve
Marcella   (11.15.10)
Hi Steve. A politician is hired to do a job. His religious devotion would be a bonus, but the real measure of performance is how he does his job. And right now nobody in government is doing his job. The PM because his policies reflect the interests and demands of foreign powers. The right wing MKs because they have not even attempted to stop the partition talks and to offer an alternative. The status quo can't continue. Israel must annex the land. The truth is that these and past talks have not been about peace but about the disempowering of Israel through partition. I'm truly desperate, Steve, because I watch the best of the MKs talking about the Freeze and nothing else. Well, with the exception of MK Aryeh Eldad, who has organized a conference for next month to offer a real solution: Jordan is Palestine. That's where MKs and the PM should be focused on. On annexing the land and having Jordan take its former citizens back. The US president and Netanyahu have already agreed on several core issues and are about to get to the details of partition. If talks fail, the PA will declare independence anyway. They even have a date: August 11, 2011. But the MKs keep talking about the Freeze... Don't they realize that unless they stop partition they will have to leave their towns and houses to the Arabs? This is all very distressing.
27. #26 Marcella: MK Aryeh Eldad
Steve   (11.15.10)
MK Aryeh Eldad is a member of National Union, as we discussed earlier. I do not know about Professor Eldad. Many / most NU members are religous Zionists. Eldad could be a nationalist in the mold of Ze'ev Jabotinsky. We need these people in our leadership. The bottom line is this. Professor Eldad "supports the right of Jews to live in any (every) part of the Land of Israel and opposes any surrender of Israeli sovereignty." Many people who think like this are men and women of faith. Some are nationalists. I am not talking about religious piety but faith. There is a difference. I am not a religious Jew. I do however believe God gave this land to the Jewish people in perpetuity. We must not compromise any of our precious land. To me, this kind of faith that NU and those who support NU exhibit is more than a bonus. It is essential. I do not know how Israel can survive and prosper without this kind of faith in our divine right to this land.
28. #27 Steve
Marcella   (11.15.10)
I don't disagre with any of your statements. However, there is no other country on earth - religious or not - where the goverrnment can be so easily persuaded to surrender land that is historically and legally theirs. Land that is absolutely necessary for defense. All this without any significant opposition from the population (marches, strikes, demands for referendum?) - or any real protest from from parliamentary representatives. They have given carte blanche to the PM to do as he pleases. Just let us build they say. Build for whom? For the Jews? Or for the Arabs who are set to take over the land? Something is very wrong here.
29. Marcella
Steve   (11.15.10)
It is because we are different that we are unfairly singled out by the international community and are placed under extaordinary pressure. Few men (and women) can withstand this pressure. We Jews have a mission. The nations are trying to thwart our mission. Our mission is first and foremost to settle our land; all of it.. I believe it is a spiritual thing and that is the only way you can explain and understand this. The Muslim world is largely driven by faith (in Allah) and the world is bowing to Islam. The world is abusing Israel in order to appease Islam. It's a wholly immoral enterprise. The only way we can survive is with faith. If the American people do not understand this - if the Americans believe they will survive by might alone - in long run, America is done. That's the way I see it.
30. Steve and Marcella: A freeze is not the
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.15.10)
same as "giving away land." A three-month freeze is a strategic move to gain what we can from the USA in terms of military defence and an advocate in the UN and international community. After three months, nothing will have changed. We continue to assert our rights to all of Jerusalem (no freeze there) and to partitioning land in Shomrun and Judea so that we can maintain defensible borders in such key areas as the Jordan Valley. Bib has given none of this away. Resistance in the Knesset and by Israeli citizens only means that the price for a three moth freeze is only higher. You must think of Bibi as a master of strategy. That's what diplomacy is pretty much all about.
