1. Israel "demands"...
seadog1946 ,   Shooters Island, NJ   (11.16.10)
You mean to tell me that Netinyahoo left the USA without a written contract??? AAAAAHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
2. Shameless deals.
MAtt ,   UK   (11.16.10)
There is something frighteningly shameless in how the US is warping all international laws and institutions for Israel's benefit. Have they given up on the notion of trying to convince the world of their "Impartial" Status. Are they happy to declare that they will protect Israel from International law ? Is this the official death of the UN?
3. deliver the goods first : )
Robert ,   farmington,wv   (11.16.10)
forget the written part just give us the goods first , many times in the past we got thing written on paper and nothing has been done you ask alot we exspect a lot......may the lord forever bless the state of israel.
4. GOOD
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (11.16.10)
Americans and Palestinians will all know every facet of any guarantees and when and if they apply and what this will cost us. So far, all American reports say that if no agreement is actually agreed and signed, no goodies get delivered. Stalling even on borders just means nothing happens and no goodies show up.
5. What is new ? ? ?
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (11.16.10)
Nothing New, the Obama gang want the progressive destruction of Israel. The Salami doctrine. One slice at the time. The Obama gang is on the way out in any case. Israel is not for Sale. You see what good it was to give Gaza to the Pals terrorist gang Hamas Fatah is just behind to complete the timebomb. No this this Crap.
6. Again
David ,   USA/ISRAEL/EYPT   (11.16.10)
Palestinian demands and not willing to compromise. Why should they ? Palestinians have been living on ALMS for over 60 years. their leaders are turning millionaires their people are being screwed..... Israel don't wait and waste time. Build, Build and Build. every building that goes up, hurts more than a bullet in their heart
7. Stay strong/smart Bibi...we must remain 2 steps ahead ALWAYS
Truth   (11.16.10)
8. mutuality
Michael ,   Haifa   (11.16.10)
One can reasonably expect that Netanyahu will also give written guarantees to what he commits himself, for his word is not exactly squeaky clean
9. bibi & co are not in the position to demand anything...
eporue ,   europe   (11.16.10)
the US are offering goodies, but instead they could also apply pressure... there is the flotilla massacre, what at least brings barak to the hague, and also the UN decision on a palestinian state... for all and everything, only the US can help - what, in case they did, would bring them at risk. your government is already checkmated, for long... ...and the americans are nice, patient guys...
10. When Hell Freezes Over
emanon ,   USA   (11.16.10)
Israel can safely stop its internal expansion when Hell freezes over!
11. It Isn't Only "Security"
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (11.16.10)
Israel needs these lands for expansion and development. Our country is congested and choked. Denying Jews the right to live and develop anywhere in the Land of Israel will result in a small, strangled and horrendous little country with no future. Our primary demand of the Arabs is not "security", but the permanent right of Jews to settle anywhere in the country, freely and without restriction. No more ghettozing the Jew!
12. Used car
Rachel ,   US   (11.16.10)
It's like the US has sold Bibi an used car but they "forgot" to give him the title. After he got played by Clinton in regards to Pollard you would think Bibi would be smarter than that. Guess not.
13. DEMAND INSTALMENT PAYMENT FROM US
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (11.16.10)
I'm beginning to warm to this process. Mr Netanyahu has always been an Israel patriot and there's no reason to think that he's drawn back from that. He's having to endure the same intensity of US pressure that the British government was subjected to by the US administration during the 1956 Suez crisis. In 1956 the US administration fouled it up after stabbing an ally in the back and is heading for the same mistake again. Actually, since the 10 month freeze ended,Mr Netanyahu has given away nothing at all and he looks like he's doing better than some think. It's Abbas and the rest of his PA cronies who have the most to lose and it looks like their big mouths are driving them towards group suicide. This really could be their nemesis. But,at the same time,I don't trust Obama or Clinton. So what I suggest is that if part of the US offer for a final 90 days' settlement freeze(which isn't such a big deal during the winter months) is 20 Stealth Fighters, get it on paper and signed, and make the terms of payment 2 war-planes delivered immediately after each 9 days of the freeze. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
14. Looking like Yanks don't get a freeze.
(11.16.10)
15. PA may restart talks without freeze for US guarantees
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (11.16.10)
if no borders after 90days then US backing on declaring statehood in UN.
16. Whaat ?Pre- 67 lines again?
Nora Tel Aviv   (11.16.10)
Erekat means the pre-67 war lines. Those lines were not universally or bilaterally recognzed lines. They were cease fire lines. Mr Erekat knows this, but he thinks that a million times repeated lie will be accepted by the world as truth.
17. You can't trust Obama.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (11.16.10)
The man is a liar & a con man. This smells not only of threats & bullying disguised as security guarantees but can easily turn into a trap in the future. Who knows what secret deals the Obama administration has made with the Palestinians? You all know damn well that promises have been made. Yet, even with an obviously anti-Israel administration, the Palestinians hold out for more. Obama is desperate for a ''success'' at any cost (as long as it's Israel that pays the price). His foreign & domestic policies are a dismal failure. We should be very wary of such a failed presidency - listening to such an obvious failure & following his lead is a mistake.
18. Ouuuch !!! Hillary wake up !!! ,...
split ,   US   (11.16.10)
19. Use Car Salesmen
Ralph Levy ,   USA   (11.16.10)
I hate to insult but even this deal would make a used car salesmen not trust it. http://ralphsrant1.blogspot.com
20. Not Worth The Paper it's Printed on
Marcel ,   Florida   (11.16.10)
Israel never learns. Look at how the USA idiots under the leadership of Bush/Obama brought Iran and iraq together . How they supply weapons to Hezbollah land and how thye helped create Hamas land. You will suffer for your stupidity Israel.
21. No matter what blame the Palestinians
Leon   (11.16.10)
No matter what Israel blames thePalestinians - Netanyahu sits with Clinton for seven hours, gets schooled and handed what he thinks is his best deal but gets busted by Shas politicians and religous leadership. Can't pull it off right wing fundamentalists give him a smack down - oh s#*@t time to blame the Palestinians for screwing things up again......
22. Shameless Palestinians
Brian ,   Judean Peoples Front   (11.16.10)
If we're supposed to recognize that the yet to be born nation of "Palestine" is the "national homeland of the Palestinian people", then the Palestinians have to equally recognize that Israel is the national homeland of the Jewish people. If the Jewish people have no homeland, then neither do the Palestinians. Seems simple, which is why the Palestinians refuse to accept it, since they would have to admit that the Jews have rights. Erekat is wrong. Peace means giving up on the Palestinian dream replacing Israel with "Palestine". If he won't take part in such a move, then there will be no peace.
23. No deal
GOOD ,   USA   (11.16.10)
No more settlement freeze and no more "peace" talks with the "Palestinians". The USA can hardly secure its own borders so any security deal is useless. If the "Palestinians want peace make peace and if Israel has land to spare them they should be grateful for what they get. If the "Palestinians are not happy with the land they get they can go home to Jordan. Enough said.
24. # 23 Why still under the rock?
Good for you   (11.16.10)
25. Like the dollar, US commitments have been devalued
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (11.16.10)
The US shouldn't be surprised that Israel wants it "in writing". But given that Obama has disavowed the Bush-Sharon understandings as "not binding", no one will accept Clinton's "trust me". But at least Israel is in good company. The US has disrespected the UK, Japan, India and South Korea too. Many of us feared Obama's post-election pressure on Israel; clearly we're well past the days of the "charm offensive". Now we're back to "do it my way or else". I should add that Netanyahu isn't trusted here either as he reneges, step by step, not just his own promises ("freeze is a one time event") but his own red lines.
26. Unbelievable!! - Arrogant beggar
Unbelievable!!   (11.16.10)
27. 22
zionist forever   (11.16.10)
The Hamas motto sums up what peace means to the palestinians. WE LOVE DEATH AS MUCH AS THE JEWS LOVE LIFE We can create an abab state for sure but at least lets not call it part of a peace process because whilst you can say we will create an arab state by a certain date you can't say you will have peace by that date especially when your dealing with arabs. Instead of oslo we should have offered King Hussain a huge pay off and said give all the palestinians citizenship. The PLO & UNRWA would have dissolved instantly, and in exchange for peace with Jordan we would have negotiated the return of some parts of Judea & Samaria to Jordan and annexed the rest including 101% of Jerusalem. If we had wanted to go down the 2 state route it should have been something that took place over years without deadlines to allow trust building. We agreed in principle to the creation of an arab state after there was peace but it would have been based on real peace first. Instead we got oslo which was a badly thought out document which made more practical options impossible.
28. Senility overtakes Europe, for #9
Bill ,   New York, USA   (11.16.10)
The idea that the UN, Europe or the Hague have anything to do with real world events in the Middle East is truly delusional. Sure you issue very pretty reports (nice graphics on the PowerPoints!), but that is easy to do when you don't have real responsibilities. Then there is the idea that you can rely on US pressure from a US President who has lost control of Congress (including effective control of the Senate) and who is looking to 2012 and cannot afford to lose any piece of a shrinking base. Er, no, Obama is now looking for a way to have a pretend success and walk away. We're patient? Europeans are so cute when they are confused. But Europe is not all bad. I do intend to eventually visit your quaint, picturesque towns like Amsterdam, Brussels etc. Powerless old buildings are adorable!
29. Freeze Guarantee
Max ,   Washington Dc   (11.16.10)
Netanyahu would do better to ask the Palestinians for a written agreement that the proposed 90 day freeze will be the last one, since they were the ones who demanded it in the first place. Written guarantees as well as verbal ones mean nothing as alliances/treaties can change with leaders. The Russians suffered millions of casualties during WWII, finding out that their Treaty with Germany was not worth the paper it was written on. The only guranteee of any countries survival is the strength and will of its leaders, soldiers and citizens to defend themselves.
30. 2. Ur kidding right?
(11.16.10)
The only double standard in the world where Israel is concerned works against Israel. There is one set of rules for "Developing Nations" and the Arab/Muslim World: They can do whatever they want and it's explained away. Another set of rules for the Western World: Might is right...if you buy your way out. AND a final set of rules for Israel: No matter what you do you are WRONG and YOU have ZERO say in your own country!
