Birdi ,   Israel   (11.23.10)
Way to go Israel.
2. And Livni doesn't know why she couldn't form a coalition
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.23.10)
She is an idiot and her party will soon disappear. That is democracy in action.
3. Referendum bill passes Knesset vote - EXCELLENT !!!
Dany - דני ,   Toronto Canada   (11.23.10)
EXCELLENT !!!! EXCELLENT !!! The PEOPLE SHALL SPEAK, not Tzipi the Commi/Lefti - out with you! She's the only "Smart" & "Educated" in this world... Israel belongs to us not the Arabs(where have they come from?...) All the Leftists, nothing will help you, even if you sell your souls to the devilS... We'll hold our heads HIGH !
4. Law might be symbolic but a good start
E.   (11.23.10)
What is to prevent a determined government from stipulating to the Supreme Court that Jerusalem and Golan are occupied and so declare this law unconstitutional? Also, what is to prevent a future Knesset from repealing this law with a simple majority? A people must remain vigilant if they want a responsive government.
5. We should have a national talk on where to go from here
E.   (11.23.10)
This is a good day for democracy and we should celebrate. But we can begin to have a national discussion on where to go from here starting today. Abbas' Fatah party does not recognize Israel and the new poll reported by Ynetnews shows the Palestinian Arabs view the 2-state solution as a precursor to one state, so we should drop the illusion that a Palestinian state will give us peace. On the other hand, Lieberman's vision for ceding the Israel Arabs to a Palestinian state is not compatible with the Zionist ideal to reclaim our entire homeland nor is Lieberman thinking out of the box. A better solution is to pressure Jordan to become the Palestinian State. Why does Israel have to make the sacrifices when most Palestinian Arabs had Jordanian citizenship in 1967? What are your alternative solutions to the 2-state solution that have not been articulated enough?
6. telling how the muslim traitors voted against it
David ,   Haifa Israel   (11.23.10)
well they can go live in gaza or jordan or egypt.. just not israel
7. Palestinian Authority should do the same, Palestinians peopl
Moise   (11.23.10)
e should be consulted for any concession such as the right to return, or any territorial concession. World will get tired and will impose a one state solution for all Arabs and Jews. Bravo
8. #5: you're thinking is stuck
david ,   new york   (11.23.10)
the issue never was that the arabs in the west bank, gaza or israel need a state so that they can take out their own garbage. the whole idea of "palestine" is and always was a means to destroy israel. the only way to fight israel successfully is by using minority arabs that are internal and to deligitimize israel (external attempts to destroy israel failed miserably). the question isn't "how can we give palestinians a state", the issue is "how can we keep the arabs from using this to destroy us?" the only solution is a second jewish state in the west bank (israel withdraws and hands over control to 500,000 jews there armed to the teeth. any arab terrorism would be dealt with harshly since neither israel nor the US will have any control over what the jews there do (this is an idea proposed 20 years ago, but was ahead of its time then)
9. Disaster! - The fanatic ultra right will...
Srulik ,   USA   (11.23.10)
overwhelm any referendum and get their way, as usual, to destroy modern Israel.
10. Why no reaction from the USA? There must be a catch
Carl ,   USA   (11.23.10)
11. congratulations israel
fady egypt   (11.23.10)
this is great news for all who loves the state of israel and the land of israel this law is great for judea and samaria because no surrender of judea and samaria without jerusalem the PA wants jerusalem more than judea and samaria if the people said no to division of jerusalem so there will be no surrender of judea and samaria also i rule out that any leftist knesset has 80 MK in favor of dividing jerusalem i hope that bibi stand firm and say no to bho and resume building in all eretz yisrael shalom
12. Stick to your guns!
Granny ,   Vermont, USA   (11.23.10)
First, let me apologize for the way the regime that has taken over the USA is treating Israel of late. You are the last best hope for the rest of us. Don't trust a word they say and hang in there!
13. Good news
Rachel ,   US   (11.23.10)
Definitely a move in the right direction!
14. After the referendum
Varda Samochian ,   Ramat Gan   (11.23.10)
After the referendum, when a big majority has approved the peace agreement, the right wing opponents will have no leg to stand on.
15. Great idea "E"; it's been said dozens of
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.23.10)
times on Ynet. Query: Why would Jordan agree to this? What would be in Jordan's interest?
16. Does anyone know how the Arab
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.23.10)
members of the Knesset voted, if they voted? If so, please post or directly email.
17. #1; Birdi, see I was right
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (11.23.10)
In the end the Government does make the final decision. They decided they do want the people in on the decision. While I think it may affect some of their power in the future, in the end most government officials want what's best for their country. Apparently they at this point think this is best. So I'm fine with it. As long as it is done through the government apparatus for most part it comes out OK. People tend to elect the ones that will vote for what they believe in. You simply are afraid of your government, that's OK we here in the U.S., don't really always trust ours.
18. what difference that bill does as long as
observer   (11.23.10)
Israel wouldn't withdraw unless it is compelled to.
19. damage more than repair
observer   (11.23.10)
the bill boasts Israel as one dishonoring his past agreements. Rabin deposit is now history.
20. to No. 16
Jackie ,   Florida USA   (11.23.10)
The story clearly states that the Arab MKs voted against it, as did many Kadima MKs including Livni.
21. to No. 14
Jackie ,   Florida, USA   (11.23.10)
Since the voters in Israel will probably not be in favor of cutting up this very small country any further to enable Arabs to more easily fire rockets into their cities, I doubt that any referendum will favor the leftist group. Sorry about that, but I was in Israel when the Arabs were revolting (and aren't they always)
22. Mabrook !
Salma ,   Palestine   (11.23.10)
However, "Israel" will leave Palestinian WB , Gaza and the Golan Heights as it did with Sinai, South Lebanon , and still more to come : )
23. Why quote Mofaz who didnt vote in favor, as someone who is
Jae ,   Lynn US   (11.23.10)
in favor of the bill? Surely you could have asked the one of the 65 mks who is not such an egotist and actually walks the walk instead of being all mouth, like mofaz is as a pilitician. all mouth.
24. Good tidings from Zion, the House of the Lord!

26. israel as a democratic role model
meyer ,   israel   (11.23.10)
i'm proud to be a citizen of a country who trusts its citizen to have a direct voice in its foreign/domestic policy. no country in the world can say the same. to those who voted against the bill we'll see you at the next election.there is a price for perfidy.
27. Mabrook !
JUDAH THE LION   (11.23.10)
Salma,West Bank,Jerusalem,Golan, you will never get them back. You will never get even one stone.Forget about these lands. They are the blood & heart of the JEWISH PEOPLE BNEI ISRAIL.
28. #25--- הסכים!
David ,   Haifa Israel   (11.23.10)
29. Thanks Jackie #20. I didn't read closely
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (11.23.10)
enough. At any rate, why do you Readers suppose that the Arab MKs would have voted against the bill? What was in it for them or for their constituencies? Why would they have voted at all?
30. # 17
Birdi ,   Israel   (11.24.10)
Yes Mark, you were correct as was I. It is too an important decision for our Government to make on its own. This decision will affect the entire Nation of Israel & we citizens must be allowed to have our say. Nope, I am not "afraid" of Bibi. I gave him my vote & my trust. There is more to this man than meets the eye.
