1. this article damages your website's credibility
cfx ,   Honolulu, HI   (11.23.10)
Comparing North Korea's killing of 2 people to Hitler's thousands before U.S. intervention is an intellectual travesty, and the author should be ashamed of themselves for equating the two. N. Korea is not in any position of global power, especially compared to Nazi Germany. Shame on you for actively trying to make the world a stupider place by printing such misinformative drivel.
2. Great article!!! The South is for your taking..tbc
Gr ,   USA   (11.23.10)

4. YOU ARE WRONG !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.24.10)
CHINA WILL NEVER SIDE WITH THE US, AND NO US TACTICAL NUCES WILL BE ALOWED IN THE SOUTH. DO YOU REALLT THINK THAT THE SOUTH-KOREAN PEOPLE WILL ALLOWE A NUCLEAR WAR TO TAKE PLACE IN THE PENINSULA. IF - YOU ARE ACCORDING TO MY OPINION AN FOOL AND IDIOT. I NOW UNDERSTAND WHY MY FIRST TALKBACK AND COMMENT ARE NOT PUBLISED. THIS ONE WILL PROBABLY NOT BE EITHER. HOPFULLY I HAVE REDEEEMED YOU FROM YOUR FOLLY BY THIS TALKBACK. Arn.Sweden..
5. North Korea must be answered
redarrow ,   USA   (11.24.10)
Aggression left unanswered invites more of the same. A nation with nuclear arms does indeed possess world power. Nuclear fallout knows no boundary and total war so close to Japan and China would have incalculable consequences. The US should put China on the spot and pursue UN sanctions, and should return nukes to Korea. Iran and Syria must not be allowed to draw conclusions that heighten tensions in the Middle East. Can Obama rise to the occasion?
6. Doesn't BHO have bigger problems?
BH ,   Iowa   (11.24.10)
I hear a Jew is planning to build a tool shed on his property in Samaria. Fool.
7. #5 redarrow
Gabi   (11.24.10)
Obama cannot rise to the occasion because he doesn't remember if he was born in North Korea or not.
8. RE: YOU ARE WRONG
San Franciscan ,   Los Angeles, CA, USA   (11.24.10)
With respect Arn. from Sweden, you don't have the right to speak on the behalf of the South Korean people and what methods we require to defend ourselves from North Korea and China. The South Korean and American governments have engaged in a policy of isolation and non-aggression against North Korea for over five decades that has only produced a more belligerent and uncontrollable North Korea. You are correct in saying that China will never take the side of the US, but you must understand that at least 47 South Koreans sailors and marines died this year so that Westerners from the US and the EU can do nothing to help us. I can't tell you how many South Korean and Japanese citizens are kidnapped by the North every year so that you can sit in your armchair and tell us what we can and can't do defend our country and way of life while the North threatens the safety of the entire free world. Noone wants a war; but few other options seem feasible to deal with the North. As a Korean who is part of the larger global community, I know for a fact that in 5-10 years reunification between the Koreas will be politically impossible. The older generation of South Koreans are the only ones who want reunification, and in 5-10 years time their voices will be drowned out by a population that understands that it cannot afford to reunite and rebuild North Korea's economy. How long are we supposed to let status quo continue Arn.? How many South Koreans, North Koreans and Japanese must die so that you can enjoy your peace that we support on our backs?

Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.24.10)
The South Korean government has already requested that the US consider returning the tactical nuclear weapons to South Korea.
10. this was not a test
chaim.s ,   brooklyn ny   (11.24.10)
because north.korea knows that Hussein Obama the first marxist president of the U.S is on their side. let's hope and pray that the U.S citizens will wake up and realize, that their biggest enemy is not in pyongpyan or teheran but in the white house itself
11. Israel is testing Obama
Legal Eagle ,   USA   (11.24.10)
The Israelis are testing the world community over East Jerusalem and the Golan and most Americans are ready to back BDS.
12. The World Forgets
Paul ,   Atlanta, GA USA   (11.24.10)
What you see now is only a test of the U.S. Military, not the U.S. people. Wait until all this aggression awakens the people of our great, not perfect, but great country. The people are not involved but if need be I think they would be. If we had to fight on 5-6 fronts then the draft would be instituted and while I'm sure everyone wouldn't be ready to fight, many millions would. Even if the draft wasn't started, a massive amount of folks would volunteer, not to mention our allies.
13. obumma couldn't pass a urine test, even if you gave him a
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.24.10)
clean sample and showed him how to pour it in the jar. A real man would have reminded kim ding dong ill that America was still at war with north korea and there would be no more nuke plants, no more attacking South Korea. Sorry we have such an incompetent coward, I didn't vote for him.
14. The circus is in town, please come in
jo   (11.24.10)
See the brand new America; weakness , helplessness.--- Japan and Taiwan must now find a new protector, as America is unable to protect it's own citizens within it's own borders -Arizona. Obama played his Vaudeville act, America loved it and hired him as Commander in Chief.-- This is act one.
15. to 4
nahla ,   lebanon   (11.24.10)
i think the aim is --america to be weakened - i think many states want it to be weak also israil like america weakness as not to pressure for peace .... i think when all are not strong enough ..all wants the others to be weakened .. i think israil ia wrong in this aspect as it will be the first failer state with any complicated war in any place even in china
16. Talk about hyperventilating over the US response
Cameron ,   USA   (11.24.10)
Others have made critical miscalculations over the years about the willingness of the US to respond in a suitably heavy fashion when merited. The N. Koreans have a long history of playing this push & prod game with their cousins & the Japanese. We'll race into no open conflict with N. Korea having to drag a spooked & unwilling S. Korea behind us, unless the N. Koreans directly attempt to mess with our troops on the DMZ.
17. easy to predict
Dan David ,   NY   (11.24.10)
Obama reaction will be merely lip-service. Few words of politically correct rightuousness. This guy is a disgrace to America.
18. Barakah Hussein Obama
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (11.24.10)
You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
19. BHO is an all-time wimp that doesn't need testing

20. US Sending another Carrier Battle Group
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (11.24.10)
But countries that claim to be allied don't seem to be sending anything. Apparently they have no concern over the situation except for seeing American and South Korean kids at risk. Japan and Taiwan should be building their own deterrents to China and to North Korea. The US is tapped out and overstretched and has fickle allies who prefer to criticize than help. The US should be bringing our troops home from around the world and let the world deal with their own problems. Iraq and Afghanistan broke the US. And we now have a Congress that is unwilling to even pay our own troops; they won't even talk about a budget. Fortunately, the carrier won't need to refuel for another decade or two. It will be able to come home when the food runs low. And maybe the Japanese will feed the escort ships crews.
21. I am no fan of North Korea
David ,   New England   (11.24.10)
We were having war exercises nearby. If countries were doing that near us, we wouldn't like it either. I am not defending their attack, though.
22. Why are they hungry?
DavidM ,   New England   (11.24.10)
I have seen videos taken in North Korea and there is plenty of land there. Have they forgotten how to farm?
23. it is all bill Clinton.s fault do not blame Obama for this
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (11.24.10)
If Bill Clinton would have bombed North Korea in 1993 the world would not be in this crisis now .Obama has been handed a poisened chalice Bill Clinton thought appeasement and engagement would work .It never works with duictators who love war because it is fun .Sensible leaders like Clinton think the other side are reasonable and just want money an economic aid .They DO NOT They want war because they want war
24. #8 San Franciscan
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (11.24.10)
And what do you want to do if the regime in Pyongyang collapses and 24 million hungry North Koreans begin their march south?
25. So What Should US Do?
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (11.24.10)
And if your solution is military, please tell where the troops come from. Our force of 25,000 troops can be wiped out in short time along with the 10 million people of Seoul. The North has the conventional means to do that. And the North is allied, but not controlled by China. Also, will China pay for whatever you recommend? The US Congress won't. All the critics - what is your solution? Should the US just nuke the North? Would 10 or 20 million dead be enough? If we nuked them, who would you send in to pick up what's left? or Would you let the survivors just rot and glow with radiation?
26. China
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (11.24.10)
Ben Yishai fails because he looks at China from an American perspective and not from a Chinese perspective. China and the US are rivals. The Chinese culture is one where if you work you succeed, while the new American culture (symbolized by Obama) is if you whine you get handouts. The Chinese want economic stability so that they can prosper and raise their standard of living. The only way the Americans will defeat the Chinese is by military domination and oil. That is why Obama maintains a military presence in South Korea, which the Chinese see like Soviet presence in Cuba. That is why Obama is willing to do anything to please the Arab world, including the genocide of the Jews, which the Chinese see as a threat to make an oil embargo. The solution to North Korea is not by Obama sending his airplanes to murder innocent civilians. The solution to North Korea will be found when the Americans stop their meddling, withdraw from the peninsula and let the Chinese and Koreans unite North Korea with South Korea.

Arn. ,   Sweden-.   (11.24.10)
WELL DO YOU THINK THE SOUTH kOREAN PEOPLE AGREE ???, DO YOU THINK THY WANT A NUCLEAR WAR ??? DO YOU THINK THE JAPANEESE PEOPLE WANT A NUCLEAR WAR ON THEIR DOORSTEPS ???. aRN.
28. NR 15.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (11.24.10)
THE US IS WEAK IN NO OTHER SENSE THAN IN ITS HEAD -OBAMAS HEAD. SURELY ISRAEL WOULD LIKE THE US TO MAKE A PREEMTIVE MILIRARY STRIKE AGAINS IRAN AND SYRIA, BECAUSE IT THE US DONT, THE US WILL LOSE ALL INFLUENSE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, AS WELL AS THEY WILL LOSE IT IN THE FAR EAST. IF THE US OR ISRAEL DO NOT STRIKE FIRST, THE ENEMIES IF ISRAEL WILL. AND IF THE US DONT STRIKE FIRST, ALL THE ARAB WORLD WOULD ABANDON THE US, EVEN ISRAEL WILL. Arn.
29. DavidM #22 they're communists
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.24.10)
So the short answer is yes they have forgotten how to farm. The North Koreans spend over 75% of the GNP on their military. Which is about 1/4 of the expenditure that South Korea spends. Tells you how poor the North is.
30. Mark of Lewiston #25 easy answer
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (11.24.10)
Stop preventing them from acquiring advanced Israeli equipment. The US government has prevented South Korea from purchasing advanced Israeli military equipment so that American companies can unload their old equipment at inflated prices.
