2. Secret: The motives for a Palestinian state disclosed
Mar   (12.02.10)
Politicians who support a Palestinian state are succumbing to Western colonialism by the United States. Am I correct Eitan Haber? In Bob Woodward's book the United States under G.W. Bush acceded to a Palestinian state at the behest of the Saudis. The Saudis have the United States by the throat due to petroleum and petrol dollars. The United States controls Israeli foreign policy. Eitan Haber confirms this in his above article. Ergo, Israel supports a Palestinian state. Thus, a Palestinian state has nothing to do with morality, not security, not demographics [these reasons are a pretense to fool the Israeli people], but a Palestinian state is a bone to Western imperialism. The PA is not controlled by the United States but instead by the Arab League and Saudi Arabia. Thus, the PA does not have to listen to the United States to make concessions and is ironically a breaker to Israeli recklessness towards a Palestinian state. The other potential breaker to a Palestinian state is people of conscious from all over the world who could call and petition Israel to oppose a Palestinian state, giving voice to the principle of democracy that does not exist in regards to the push to a Palestinian state. These conclusions are based on the assessment of journalist David Bedein.
3. True enough, Haber
Cameron ,   USA   (12.02.10)
LOL at this WikiLeaks business for revealing just how much contempt & disdain American diplomats have for assorted foreign leaders and govt.s who specialize in the doublespeak game.
4. Lying in Politics
Dennis Murphy ,   Adelaide, Australia   (12.02.10)
I am one of those people who find it incomprehensible that any problem can be solved by lying – or that anyone could think that it does. The current Israeli-Palestinian problem is a classic example of just how effective lying is as a strategy in solving problems. Where have all the lies of the last 60 years got you and the Palestinians? Take the cretinous idea in diplomacy known as “constructive ambiguity”. The idea being that you make a public statement that is so vague as to be able to be interpreted in whatever way the “leaders” wish to claim. Both sides claim that they are “upholding the agreement” while doing totally different things to what the other side claims “was agreed upon”. Everybody know that both sides are lying and everybody knows that there is no hope of ever resolving any problem so long as both sides are lying. But what is truly amazing is that people then “are lost for a explanation” as to why we cannot solve “this problem” after years of all the parties knowingly lying to each other and their respective publics.. Eitan Haber, don’t you understand just how much credibility anyone who promotes lying as a solution loses in the eyes of normal rational people who understand reality? A good definition of insanity is to keep doing the same things (e.g. lying) – and then expecting to get a different result!
5. 4 Dennis Murphy

The big problem is that with the time people believe their own lies.
6. This certainly is an accurate summary of..
Rafi ,   US   (12.02.10)
... the way most politicians (and diplomats) often conduct themselves. They simply have too many varying constituents (foreign & domestic) to please... and they try to please most of them simultaneously.
7. Likud must have a new leader who can stand up for Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.02.10)
I've never agreed with Haber before. However, his characterization of Bibi as a poodle is, unfortunately, spot on. Bibi gives a rousing patriotic speech to Israel and than folds, like a lawn chair, before the hostile demands of Obama, Clinton, the E.U., U.N. and just about everyone else. Bibi's conduct towards the Obama regime reminds me of a simpering little boy being disciplined by the school principal. Pathetic. LIkud must have a new leader. A leader who can stand up for Likud principles and the vast majority of Israeli Jews. A leader determined to win elections rather than throw them away, as Bibi did in the last election.
8. huh? why poodle? wrong analogy
dina ,   texas   (12.03.10)
The author should make a clearer analogy. A full size poodle in France is used as a police dog, and they're pretty vicious, just like a Doberman. A better dog choice would be a 'lap dog' or a 'miniature poodle'
9. "Propose another method for diplomatic and security work".
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (12.03.10)
Security is obviously a very different issue to "diplomacy", but this not so hard to grasp fact obviously escapes Eitan Haber. How is anything serious going to be agreed on if all parties involved play games and issue half truths? An example. It's now clear that almost the whole world including the vast majority of Arab states has been begging the US to attack Iran's nuclear sites and that Obama has been sidelining the issue. If the world had spoken up clearly and plainly a whole lot earlier then Obama would have had to announce very clearly why he was standing against the global community and Iran would have either backed down or had its facilities bombed. "Diplomacy" meant that Iran continued its forward March unabated. Now the facts are known however, Obama should be painted into a corner and asked why he is refusing to do what almost the entire world feels necessary.
10. #3 - US diplomats have also fudged and lied.
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (12.03.10)
Your post implies that the US plays straight and the rest of the world plays games, whereas it's now clear that the US is sadly just as much a game player.
11. A reply to Bibi "poodle" comments ..
michael redbourn ,   Arad - Israel   (12.03.10)
What has Bibi given either the US or the PA since the latest "negotiations" began? No previous Israeli PM ever had to stand up to a greater threat than Obama! Bibi must play for time until Obama has gone and Bibi has done a wonderful job of tap-dancing so far. Obama thankfully just had his wings severely clipped and will most likely not run in 2012.
12. Poltical games & weasel positioning, #10?
Cameron ,   USA   (12.03.10)
We are but rank amateurs at the game compared to the carefully polished expertise of other states on the planet.
13. #11. Wish you were correct about Bibi standing strong.
Chaim ,   Israel   (12.03.10)
#11. I wish you were correct about Bibi standing strong. Israel would be far better off. Bibi certainly didn'tt stand strong against Obama when he agreed to the blatantly racist anti-Jewish building freeze. It is immensely harmful for Israel and leads to increasing demands for further lunatic Israeli concessions. Bibi followed up this capitulation by trying to extend the racist freeze, thus violating his pledge it would be a "one time event". That isn't standing strong either. In fact, it would be difficult to name one pledge to Israel that Bibi has kept. Even building in Jerusalem has been sharply reduced out of fear of Obama. Bibi is not standing strong at all. He is playing the time dishonoured game of pretending to accept the deadly Two State Final Solution, while counting on our enemies to derail it with extremist demands. This was always a poor strategy but, given that Israel faces the most hostile U.S. President ever, it is downright idiotic. It is true that Obama is thankfully weaker due to his shellacking in midterm elections. However, we can't count on our Republican friends to be more Pro-Israel than Israel's government. Israel must stand strong and clearly reject the monstrous Two State Final Solution.
14. Glad to see the politicians lies revealed.
(12.05.10)
See how they are going after this guy? Governments are showing their true colors after he showed their true colors.
