I think that politically it is better for Israel if Syria does not get involved. Once the fire is all over and done with Assad will be telling Obama he sent firetrucks to put out a fire in Israel what other proof does he need Syria is serious about peace. All we want is the Golan, a share of Kineret water and of course US military aid and a couple of billion in stimulus money to repay our debts. Obama would probably say good deal and pressure Israel into accepting Assads demands.
