Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.03.10)
Why doesn't Israel seed the clouds to bring rain?
2. Theodore and Garisha - quite simply.... thank you

3. "ARSON" Thats Rich!! Called Terrorism. Clearly more
Jake ,   Haifa Israel   (12.03.10)
effective than blowing up only a few children. Israel you have a 5th column on your hands and you also have Israeli Arabs who would like to give back to the state and support the Jewish nation state. But Israel you have to draw a line in the sand, lawfully. the lefties on the supreme court will not let that happen. Theyd rather be PC and watch while Israel burns. You are probably about to see a lot more "arson" pop up. And it wont stop until you create a Jewish and democratic state, but Jewish first, democracy second, not the other way around. The other way around is what is happening now. Plus you religious have 10 kids per family and you have 2. In 20 years at this rate there will be more religious, maybe in less time. Every sector in Israel has lots strengths to contribute, from charedi to religious. Tap into the various strenths of your people Israel. Get Jewish history as a required course for every year of school, no less important, no more important, than math and english and hebrew. If you dont know who you are and where you come from you are nobody, and you will be treated as such. when you are lost, you may delude yourself into thinking you are not, but everyone else can see you are lost. come home Jews, find a middle ground that is not over the top minuae religious and not wtared down BS from the left; something with integrity and spirutality of Torah but not dressed in black blankets and 3 hats. Nopr is it self loathing and spinelessly siding with our enemies, That is far worse. shabbat, kashurt, taharat mishpachah, lomei torah, hitbodedute, tefilah, jewish yoga, parnasa, derech eretz, gratitude, humility, tsedakah, and health!

6. Cloud seeding
David ,   Denver, USA   (12.03.10)
Cloud seeding only works when there are moisture-laden clouds that just need a nuclei to condense around. In fact, the ash from the fire would make good nuclei for rain droplets to condense around...except there are not clouds. I suspect that is not the case...clear skies and absence of moisture. Pray that HaShem would release the winter rains! Is there still a phophet like Elijah in Israel? Let him call the cloud forth from the Great Sea!
7. Fifth Column responsible for fires??
Sharabanee ,   Canada   (12.03.10)
Those people not interested in living peacefully in the Land of Israel must be transferred out as quickly as possible. How can any responsible country tolerate a fifth column constantly looking for opportunities to cause damage and mayhem? No generalizations should be made, because there are many loyal Druze and Arab citizens in Israel that contribute greatly to the economy, security and cultural diversity of the country. But the elements that don't accept co-existence must be dealt with harshly and sent packing to one of the many muslim countries in the area.
8. Cloud seeding
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.03.10)
There are always clouds if you go high enough. Especially over the Mediterranean. Educate yourself here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_seeding
9. More on cloud seeding
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.03.10)
Educate yourselves on clouds here. Turns out there are ALWAYS clouds, even if you have to go up to 60,000 feet to get to them. http://www.cbs3springfield.com/weather/classroom/guidetometerology/6552607.html

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.03.10)
Plenty of clouds at 60,000 feet. If I am not mistaken, rockets can be used to seed clouds. Isn't it worth a try? Far better that than dumping incredible quantities of sea water on the flames. Israel worked so hard to create forests and to make barren land fertile. Keep this in mind -- sea water and soil: not friends.
11. Pray for rain, but fire up those planes
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (12.03.10)
Had the seasonal rains come, such a conflagration wouldn't have happened. Our prayers so far haven't been answered, so Israel has to rely on its own resources and those provided by its friends abroad. Mention of Beit Oren brings up memories from long ago. I was there for a time studying Hebrew and volunteering - still remember the day I worked harvesting bananas. So much planted, grown and built over the generations now gone. Breaks the heart.

Simply because there are no clouds to seed!

Sigh. There are ALWAYS clouds; you may have to go up to 60,000 feet to reach them, but they are there.
