There is simply no way the peace process can go forward with Hamas in power in Gaza. Hamas rejects peace with Israel, and Fatah won't and can't sign a peace treaty without Gaza. And no, Hamas will not recognize a Fatah peace treaty with Israel, since their condition is a world-wide Palestinian referendum, which is pretty much an absolute impossibility. So no, the Pals are not central. By rejecting any and every chance for peace with Israel they've shown their intransigence, and by being so inherently corrupt and committed to the path of violence, they've shown that they're not serious about nation building or peace making.
