Not that I agree with Bolkestein (my view is the same as Wilders' - Holland is a Western country and which must make every effort to remain hospitable to Jews), yet he cannot reasonably be criticized over this statment, as he's merely reiterating what many Jews are saying on this matter.

I am puzzled because Morocco had one of the largest North African Jewish communities. In Morocco the Arabs are not as anti-Jewish as those outside of Morocco. It seems that those Moroccans in exile who hate the King of Morocco also hate the Jews too. It is the likes of Rami and his anti-Jewish Radio Islam that seems to be hosted online by an American internet company that may be influencing things against Jews.

Thank you for your explanation. From the article, it looks like Mr Bolkestein is in fact telling Jews "go away, you have no future here." Seeing this as a cry of alarm instead changes the entire tenor. I still say that Jews should never be made to flee Europe again, but it is good to know that Mr Bolkestein wasn't simply another voice chasing Jews away. And you are correct, not all or even most Dutch were collaborators, as Casper Ten Boom and his daughter Corrie could have attested.

Thank you for your reasoned comment. However, I think you may have missed the point somewhat. Every citizen of the Netherlands deserves the protection of the State. What has happened here is that an influential official has thrown up his hands and said, essentially, "Our Arab and Islamic community do not like Orthodox Jews and we cannot (or will not) protect you, so you better leave." It is the job of the Dutch government to make sure that the Orthodox Jewish community is not subject to threats of violence. And if they cannot do that, or if their efforts fail, it isn't the Orthodox Jewish community that should pay the price, but rather those segments of Dutch society that encourage hatred and violence. Most troubling is the fact that the Dutch have a history -- the extent of their collaboration with the Nazis during World War II is well-known and well-documented. The Dutch, of all people, should know better. During World War II, the overwhelming majority of the Jewish community in the Netherlands died in the concentration camps. It would appear that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The Dutch should be very, very ashamed.

Mnr. Bolkestein might be correct about the Jews. But after the Muslim take over of Holland, where will all the native Dutch go. There is certainly no future for them as Dhimmis. Thank G-d the Jews have a country...can't say the same will hold true for the poor Dutch and the rest of Europistan.

Jews may be protected from adverse elements in Morocco but that doesn't mean Moroccans are not anti-semetic. Protection from the King is what gives Jews the right to live and visit the country. Now if Muslims immigrate to Europe, especially to a country that is poor in handling anti-semetic acts or just plain trying to hold favor with the Muslim community, they are free to attack Jews without the wrath of their King miles away. Let's not forget that those who usually immigrate to Western countries from Muslim lands are poorer, more conservative, more religious, and more racist. That's a fact. Turks may be wonderful people too but the ones in Germany and Swiss are jackasses, and synagogues with 4-inch bullet-proof glass is the proof of this.

You're trying to push a replacement theology. There is no "new Jews" only a new wave of immigration from a different population. Except, unlike Jews who integrated themselves into society and were true citizens of their countries, Muslims do not provide such respect to their host countries, a point Wilders has pointed out many times. Arafat once tried to portray the "Palestinians" as the "new Jews" including the claim that G-d gave Jerusalem to them in place of the Jews. In reality, they're just a bunch of mis-placed Arab economic immigrants caught in the middle of a war of which they supported the losing side.
