1. Why doesn't anyone slam arab's racism
Rivka ,   north, Israel   (12.08.10)
against Jews. When Jews moved into Pki'in a few years ago their houses were totally burned down and no one said or did a thing. A month ago a Jew bought a house in Iblin (not too far from Haifa) and the neighbours warned him that if he dare move in he wouldn't wake up in the morning. Why wasn't this a headline? Where were the protest then?
2. Politically correct and dead people
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (12.08.10)
HaRav Metzger is trying to be politically correct, but he knows (see the polls) that nobody likes to live near arabs or illegal immigrants, that's a fact. Meretz is representing 2% of the population including a lot of arabs, so, what can you expect? One day we will have to stop pretending and accept reality, we are not an example in democracy, nor want to be!!!
3. Our very own culture vulture.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (12.08.10)
Metzger and Bibi had the decency to speak out against this raceist outrage, but where is the voice of our "minister of Kultura" , Limor.
4. #1 for a simple reason
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.08.10)
Arabs are doing so for political reasons, and to keep their land after they endured by the Jews who whenever settled in any place want or transform it into a Jewish pure place , while the Jews are doing so for grim racial reasons ! Rivka , just make a simple comparison between the situation today and the situation in 1948, to make sure I tell the truth.
5. Firstly, seculars don't listen to Rabbis
Secular ,   Israel   (12.08.10)
And, if this recent verbal garbage was intended for the religous, the other question has to be how come they have apartments to rent? This calls for an inquiry.
6.  a question for Meretz et.al.
Zev ,   Israel   (12.08.10)
Can you name the kibbutzim that accept Arabs as members.
7. #1
kwelam ,   zw   (12.08.10)
The difference is that in this case, the racists are government employees speaking in their capacity as government employees. Private and official racism are different.
8. death sentence to all who sell
yoni ,   tel aviv   (12.08.10)
all arabs who sell homes to Jews are put to death if caught. The fact that we live in a democratic state does not preclude the fact that we live in a Jewish state. Anyone who can figure out how to put the two together deserves a prize but in the mean time we must choose either Jewish or Democratic I choose Jewish otherwise I will move back to America
9. to #4 really nachlat simion in east jerusalem
ghostq   (12.08.10)
still was built by jews, since 1898 and arabs kicked the jews out, today you can find two pali families live in the old synagogue, sound like you got selective reality.
10. right on # 7 plus it's not just about Arabs
M.Oliver ,   Israel   (12.08.10)
11. Rabbis, racist ruling
elsie ,   gush halav   (12.08.10)
Arieh Eldad, please enlighten us ,how many Arabs live in kibbutz ?,where are these kibbutz that Arabs are allow to live within the community,
12. Sanity!
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (12.08.10)
Thank you Rabbi Metzger! Such racist and discriminatory actions would place Israel in a very bad position. The press would be devastating, and it would give our enemies even more fuel. More important though, it is a very bad position to assume. Is Judaism a religion of racism, discrimination and hatred? Is Israel an apartheid state? Many have made these accusations, but I fail to find any good reason to confirm this. What's next though? Bar secular Jews? This is just a bad idea. It lacks any reality of the effect(s) and just opens the good people of Israel to recrimination. How is it possible that this kind of potential legislation even gets attention?
13. no sale of assets to non-Jews
Uncle Morty ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (12.08.10)
These 50 municipal rabbis will, I hope, behave consistently and no longer sell all their Chametz to non-Jews prior to Passover. See - there are, sometimes, blessings in curses.
14. Salma #4
Naftush ,   Israel   (12.08.10)
Rubbish. For centuries, Muslim societies and governments across the Near East confined Jews to mellahs, treated them as impure under Shari'a law, and, when things heated up, indulged in occasional massacres. You know better than I do how current these ideas are in the PA areas and moreso in Gaza. One reason I condemn the rabbis' statement is that it sounds too Muslim.
15. Don't Let these Jewish Imam Takeover!
David ,   Israel   (12.08.10)
We mustn't allow these Jewish Imams to take over our country. We are NOT Iran nor are we Saudi Arabia. We cannot give them even an inch. First they will start with non-Jews i.e. Arabs, Muslims, Christians, Ethiopians, and migrant workers who are easy targets...but eventually they will turn on secular Jews by saying "don't rent or sell to Jews who don't keep Shabbat, or that don't eat kosher foods, or that don't segregate men and women, or that don't keep all traditions"...etc. Don't let them turn our country into an Iranian-style theocracy. This is not just about racism, it is a matter of principle.
16. #1 just because you don't remember reading it on Ynet....
(12.08.10)
doesn't mean it didn't happen. In fact there have been a whole group of quiet negotiations between the different Israeli groups in Pikin and other mixed towns. In fact there are a whole group of mixed towns and cities...starting with but not limited to: Haifa, Tel-Aviv-Jaffo, and Beersheva as well as Ma'alot and Tiberia. But then we get already since you don't know about it clearly it doesn't exist!
17. Rabbis' 'racist ruling' slammed
Yisroel Avrahm ,   Motzkin, Israel   (12.08.10)
A palestion who sell land to a Jew is given the death penalty by the palestionions. Maybe everyone should review what Numbers 33:55-56 states before slamming the Rabbis' who are labeled as racist.
18. I'd rather be a racist and safe than politically correct
(12.08.10)
I care about myself, my family, my friends and the rest of the Jews FIRST. Too bad for the Arabs. They caused this racism themselves. I have absolutely no pity for them. They have 22 countries to live in. There's no reason they have to squeeze into MY home.
19. 5 secular
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (12.08.10)
For your information, there are religious bilionairs.I hope you don t mind. And the taxes they pay is probably enough to care for the whole Haredi comunity.
20. Emperor's Clothes
Jonathan ,   Harrisburg US   (12.08.10)
If you're like me, you're asking yourself if the Rabbis' Edict of 50 really represents Jewish Law and tradition. I know it runs against my own western sensibilities and is not the Zionism I grew up with and maintain. But it seems to me that there is an entire Talmudic thread that is diametrically opposed to this racist line of thinking. Some of it can be read and commented upon at www.newjewview.com. If the Jewish people can’t produce a forward looking vision for the future, what of value are we giving to our children, much less to the world?
21. Thankfully there are other rabbis
Chaya ,   Tel Aviv   (12.08.10)
that have spoken out against this!! And I hope more come out in the future!
22. "Fire the rabbis"
JDE ,   Boston, USA   (12.08.10)
Preferably out of a cannon.
23. #16 hypocrite and liar
observer   (12.08.10)
Haifa? It's and Aarab city that Jews have infiltrated for the past 70-more years. The Arabs are lucky to have even a few homes left there. Tel Aviv-Yafo? Are you kidding? Yafo is Arab and TA is Jewish! Just try settling a few Arab families in North Tel Aviv. Beer Sheva is in the middle of the largest Bedouin population in Israel. The Jews are newcomers. Pekiin and Tiberias (amongst others) are old-settled Arab towns that Jews have infiltrated. Maalot is a new town - smack in the middle (or rather in the north) of the largest Arab settlement in Israel. You really can twist facts to fit your racist ideology, can't you? Just try settling a few Arabs in your street and watch the house-prices plummet, and maybe the crime rise - not to mention the odd intermarriage... And by the way, I live in a street with three Muslim families with whom I get on very well (I prefer them as neighbours to the xstians), so don't play the racist card back at me.
24. #21 Chaya , Thankfully you're here
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.08.10)
God bless you my sister : )
25. to #23 I saw the map of haifa from the turks era
ghostq   (12.09.10)
there were chritians and jews only back than, before the Turk destroyed the old Haifa and reconstruct it in the 17 sentury it was small chritian pilgramage site, the main institute was the Carmelite monestery that turned with time to the Stela Maris church of today, those r facts observer, Haifa never was par of pali erea.
26. to #24 lol you r not Israeli even if rabbis will
ghostq   (12.09.10)
revoke their verdict you won't be able to live in Israel.
27. Animals can work on shabbat - but goys can? Jackboot think?
Josh   (12.09.10)
The violation of adding racist ideas, encouraging theft from the goy nationals, violations of secular marriages, and a whole range of illegal additions to Torah have caused, in my opinion, anti-Semitism and worse curses from G-d. Groups that organize constructive evictions of converts, Americans, Russians, French, South Africans, and goyim in general, including from owning Jewish vacation homes, from the land of Israel, do it on the understanding that this is a nation ruled by racist Rabbinical additions (opinions) to Torah. May I remind the Jewish brothers, NO ADDING TO TOARH? If it didn't come from G-d's mouth or via HIS (stressing His) prophets, it is bunk and only curses our people. We are to be a light to all nations. That means we teach and take in goyim to show them the way. Rabbis have it ALL wrong. But what does that translate for us Jews? Does it mean we are stronger in our bunkers under the umbrella of choose death, or does it mean we will be victims of our choice to allow strange men who claim traits they don't have (genius?!), to lead us into an abyss? Get wise Israel. It is for our own advantage to put a stopped in leaking truth and inserting lies with the words of Torah. When G-d said not even our animals could work on Shabbat, who said a Rabbi could get us to work Goyim? Did G-d say a man could legalize working people or children on Shabbat? Twisted men bringing curses and vile ideas should not lead. Period.
28. 27 Josh I understand your outrage,but
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (12.09.10)
I think you need explanation.Abroad some offices accept that religious jews don t work on Shabat,on the condition, they engage themselves to do the work at home on sundays. In Israel nobody can force a non jew to work on Shabat. The non Jew is usely happy that he finds a wellpaid job,It doesn t matter if it is on Shabat .And don t compare non Jews with animals. These have no free choice. I hope i could calm you down.Have a nice day,Josh.
29. Naftush 14
Loyal Jew ,   Israel   (12.09.10)
Your comment was OK until the last sentence. These rabbis didn't make a "statement" that a Jew can "condemn." It was a psak halacha, the law. But given your track record on obeying halacha, you were just being in character.
30. #29, Loyal Jew
JDE ,   Boston, USA   (12.09.10)
"These rabbis didn't make a "statement" that a Jew can "condemn." It was a psak halacha, the law. " So, when Muslims do it, it's unacceptable, but when rabbis do it, it's fine, because it's "the law"?
