1. Bakri is hardly an 'artist'; he is a political activist...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (12.14.10)
...thinly veiled as a man of the art world, but one who is eager for the demise of the nation-state of the Jewish people, and any means for this 'man' is "kosher". Only in liberal democratic Israel and other such states can a person like this continue to be active, not in any of the countries or territories that border Israel, despite the fact - or perhaps because of it - that all of the are Muslim-Arab ones!!
2. Dear Moammad Bakri, with all my love ....Best wishes
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.14.10)
to " Israel's Foreign Ministry ", Can you shut up! No one wants to hear your damn comments, not only in Turkey, nor in any other place.
3. Bakri is "persecuted" for his propaganda, not his opinions
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (12.14.10)
Poor Mohammad Bakri spent too much time around Jewish artsie leftists, who let him think that pushing Arab propaganda is akin to expressing political "opinion". It's not. Jenin Jenin is nothing more than a propaganda film. It really is hard not to think of Bakri in perjorative terms when you hear him say that his goal was to make people think that there was a massacre in Jenin when the UN and major human rights groups conclude there was not. Bakri is just another propagandist, and a bad one at that.
4. To all boycotters
Yossef   (12.14.10)
About ten years ago, french universities launched a boycott program of the Israeli universities. I didn't know what to do, as a member of some french university, to fight this boycott. I signed a petition, and as Bacri said I thought it was not harsh enough :) It came then clear to me that the only answer to the boycott call what to come in Israel and work there, for israeli universities and be paid by France. It is what I did. Israel got one more jewish citizen for free. Be careful with boycott program they may have a completely reverse effect :-)
5. #2 Dear Salma
Cynthia ,   USA   (12.14.10)
It is hypocritical to boycott a country that helped and supported Bakri and his son to launch their acting careers. He's obviously promoting himself in the Arab/Muslim world at Israel's expense. Not impressed.
6. and he's oh-so-vocal about...
oferdesade ,   israel   (12.14.10)
... arab crimes against humanity, too.
7. democracy
freda ,   israel   (12.14.10)
ain't it great? Everyone can say anything they want here, no problem. Artists are not above or below any other citizens - they are all entitled to say, print and exercise whatever they want, through any venue they please. Try doing that as a citizen of any other state or country in our region, Mr. Bakri and see what happens.
8. PLEASE BOYCOTT IT! Israeli cinema is more anti-zionist
Omri ,   Israel   (12.14.10)
then the turkish one!
9. Freedom of movement.
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (12.14.10)
Dear Mr Bakri, nobody is holding you here by force, you are free to leave at any time you wish. I am sure you will easily find happiness else where .Also you will be doing us a favour, everybody will be happy. You ,just like Bashara Azmi will not be missed.
10. Bakri
Ricardo Macher ,   Karnei Shomron IL   (12.14.10)
I do believe that freedom to express yourself is very good and important. Now, to support and help working against the State of Israel is stupid! Bakri and his ilk should be banned from anything with state's funding. Does anybody believe this is racism?
11. I support a boycott of Israeli films.
Terry ,   Eilat - Israel   (12.14.10)
Most of them are just left-wing crap, nothing but propaganda. Having an anti-Israel message makes them popular in Europe or America, our leftist ''artists'' & pseudo-intellectuals are in reality just cowardly craven sell-outs & conformists not courageous enough to tell the truth, too ''politically correct'' to have an original thought. So, that's why I support a boycott of Israeli films & I would really like it if the State would stop all subsidies. As for Mr Bakri, he should stay in Turkey, as a matter of fact, we should deny him re-entry to Israel.
12. agreed
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (12.14.10)
Israeli cinema is dominated by the extreme-Left. Israeli films are an important force in painting a false picture that delegitimizes Israel. Bakri is right: these people should be boycotted.
13. bakri salma hezballa : the ennemy speak freely
STEPHAN ,   YAFFO   (12.14.10)
14. to nm 2 !
ilan ,   nazareth   (12.14.10)

15. salma you have a big mouth
martin ,   uk   (12.14.10)
no one wants or needs your arab voice from the british colonial title palestine.
16. So?
Nancy ,   Sydney, Australia   (12.14.10)
Bakri is to Israel what Michael Moore is to the USA. Both of them would disappear if they were doing this in some of the countries they appeal to.
17. Agree with #1 - Bakri is an activist first
Scott ,   Australia   (12.14.10)
I have "news" for Bakri - he'd be 'persecuted' anywhere where commonsene prevails - he's an idiot. Period.
18. the state of Israel doesn't have to give funds
ghostq   (12.14.10)
to someone who fake data just inorder to bash her.
19. Bakri has lost the plot
citizen   (12.14.10)
Bakri has lost the plot. For a film director this is really sad but also a pretty good indication that he has nothing new to say. His film Jenin Jenin is full of lies and has been discredited, but not banned. He is free to complain as much as he wants it won’t change public attitude and his latest pronouncement to boycott Israeli cinema guarantees that he will continue to have difficulties finding work as an actor or director, in Israel. On the other hand, maybe someone in Turkey will give him a job.
20. Clowns can also be called actors
David P. ,   USA   (12.14.10)
trash talking garbage peddlers who incite violence should be imprisoned
21. the fool is Israel's mortal enemy but expects to be loved.
dante ,   uk   (12.14.10)
sorry, clown. that is not how it generally works. you hate Israel. work against Israel. support Israel's enemies. and, you whine that, for some reason, they don't like you. fool.
22. More they ask for boycott...
Pedro ,   Brazil   (12.14.10)
More we support Israel as Jewish homeland
23. Go live in Gaza...
Ariel ,   São Paulo - Brazil   (12.14.10)
And critisize them if you can.. .. N.B - Do us a favour and take Salma with you
24. Jews in Hollywood vs. Bakri
NS ,   Karmiel1@Aol.Com   (12.14.10)
After reading this article, I was just thinking of those early Jewish actors, producers, directors and studio owners in Hollywood who help found the movie industry in America. They worked in the industry when America was discriminating against Jewish Americans in all walks of life. Had they had shown a fraction of the disloyalty against America that Mr. Bakri has shown against Israel, their careers would have been dead in the water.
25. Jenin Jenin was a proven lying waist of time.
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (12.14.10)
He even admitted that he lied. This slanderer has zero credibility.
26. boycott him and refuse all funding requests.
ralph   (12.15.10)
27. Omri is right
Mimi ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (12.14.10)
I agree, I work in the film industry and it makes me sick to see the crap coming out of Israeli cinema. Gay Rabbis and Pro Peace art dramas, almost valueless in the International market excluding countries who hate Israel and want to exploit Jews making self deprecating films to further their own political agenda. As far as Bakri's lack of work, hey dont bite the hand that feeds you! Maybe you should go make your crappy films in Syria or Lebanon obviously you hate your own country so why dont you see how much support and artisic freedom your Arabic brothers give you.
28. He should emigrate
steve from raleigh   (12.15.10)
Unless he's just a loudmouthed coward.
29. next time when you get sick go there
Nili   (12.15.10)
30. Bakri - try an experiment
EZ   (12.15.10)
Make a film in Turkey about the Armenians in WWI. Try to get funding from the government. Better yet, just try to stay out of jail. Then, come back, and we can talk. Dullard.
