ad hominem attacks on you. I too disagree with much of what you write here, but I think it's important to listen to what you have to say. A dialogue is a good thing even when you disagree, or perhaps especially if you disagree, so I'm calling all of my fellow talkbackists here, let's keep it civilised: attack the opinion, not the person. Peace. PS this is not an apology, and don't ask for compensations :-)
63. I said it before and I'll say it again: Israel has nothing

to apologise for. The Marmara was on a political mission, not a humanitarian one, trying to break a legal naval blockade, was rightfully stopped at a proper distance from Israeli shores, and as many pointed out here, only those who attacked the soldiers were hurt. After all, if IDF was so "brutal and murderous", how come Raad Sallach and Hanin Zoabi were not hurt?
64. @#59: What you're writing is also true for Iran until 1979.

Turkey seems to be going through a similar process, therefore I sadly see little or no hope for cure here. Even if we did apologise, it would not stop Turkey's continuos incitement against Israel, au contraire, will increase it. The animosity between the two nations seems more and more unbridgeable: many Turks don't consider us as friends anymore, and we are still really mad at them. We should not bow here. Our industry will cope, same as it did in 1979.

of your post. "Disproportionate force" is so the attackers do not wipe out the civilian population. It is not usually applied to defenders as France stated it "would seriously hamper the conduct of defensive military operations against an invader and prejudice the inherent right of legitimate defenceā€. The Israelis came with paint ball guns for crowd control and were set upon by over 20 thugs; this happened from the time only 1 Israeli was on deck. So what is disproportionate force? It must certainly take into account weapons: 20 steel rods and knives vs 1 paintball gun and 1 pistol? Yes disproportionate, but on which side? And can you call Israel the attacker as the original intent was crowd control while the original intent of the IHH was murder and to create martyrs?

"It's the Turks who should be paying us compensation, and not the other way around." Yes blame the victims. If an Israeli so much as busted a pimple in international waters, the payback would have been tremendous. If it were me and I were Turkey, I would have let the forest burn.
