Ted ,   UK   (12.12.10)
Well, accept my condolances...but are you trying to incinuate, maybe, that jews are responsible for that? the point that people are making here is very simple: you appease terrorists, and guess what, they don't appreciate it...its your freedom and the freedom of Europe which is threatened here...and I wonder how many more terror acts and loss of life have to occur in Europe for people to wake up? look at how Geert wielders in Holland has to get protection 24 hours for his life...in a free democratic country?what we in Europe don't understand is that Israel is really in the front line... fighting for democratic western values...

R ,   Israel   (12.12.10)
I understand how you are feeling, since I've been there so many times. I remember no outpouring of sympathy from Sweden during the hundreds of incidents we've experienced. There was less than a trickle. Unless maybe it was in Swedish?
15. Welcome to our world
Jerry ,   Abroad   (12.12.10)
of "moderate Jihadists". Ayisha was a pretty six years old girl when she drew the attention of a dirty old man. He made her father an offer he could not refuse, and took the six year old girl for a wife. Being a highly moral man, some say to the point of sainthood, he restrained his desires for her until she reached the mature age of nine, before he ravished her. Just help save Sharia from a similar fate.
16. Swedish gov. are real jurks
bruno ,   portugal   (12.12.10)
The government of Sweden became the greatest jurks on the face of the earth. Muslims are entitled to rape Swedish women, harrass Jews, burn stores and commit many other crimes and yet the government will protect their real identity which is: of muslim background, so as to encourage them : go ahead and do it. We will not harm you. Appease your enemy and hopefully he will spare you next time...Just watch Swedish news, they'll cover up muslim criminals...
17. SALMA!!! where are your comments?
Ariel ,   Tel Aviv   (12.12.10)
Salma, please give us your point of view, you always find a good reason..., for everything!
18. Be Quiet #6
Korem ,   New York, USA   (12.12.10)
So many Swedes viciously hate on Israel and say it deserves all the bombing and violence done against it, and call for boycotts. Don't expect Israelis/Jews to be swarming with sympathy, as you've rarely shown it to us. However, on my end, condolences to the person killed and his family.
19. #6 ASTRID , ENJOY...
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (12.12.10)
Enjoy the fruits of what you have sown.It could not happen to a nicer bunch.
20. #6 Astrid - spare us your rebuke
Jake   (12.12.10)
You're not being serious, are you? Israelis have suffered tens of thousands of casualties in only a few decades, and the world's reaction has always been "It's your fault". So try to understand Israelis for looking at this "incident" in Sweden from a different perspective. Yes, Incident. And the perpetrators are "militants" expressing their anger, frustration and sense of injustice. That's what you people say, don't you? whenever the victims are Jews. Sweden has been shrill in its condemnation of Israel for many years. Just like other European countries, they thought that the more anti-Semitic they sounded, the safer they'd be from these kinds of "militant attacks". What we lament is that it's always some poor innocent bystander who gets hurt in Europe, while you, the Arab-loving folks and your governments, have welcomed millions of your beloved foreigners, while at the same time turning Israel into a pariah, the "Jew" of the world, a fair target for hatred, racism, and violence. Israel just lost over 40 people in a fire that shouldn't have happened. The government says it was an accident.
21. Condolences to the Swedes
Shimon ,   Loveland, USA   (12.12.10)
No one deserves to die because of a cartoon/caricature. They were the victims of hateful extremist terrorists. Now maybe you'll start deporting these people who bring naught but trouble as their baggage. Who needs them?
22. Very sincere condolences
John DeLancy ,   Alaska, USA   (12.12.10)
to the people of Sweden and to the family of the man murdered by Muslims. This is a tragedy and a terrible crime against a free society and fine country.
23. Of course it could always have been worse ...
John DeLancy ,   Alaska, USA   (12.12.10)
Can you imagine the outrage if the news agency had printed something truly awful, like that when he was 53, the "prophet" Mohammed had sex with a nine year old girl? Oh wait - he really did that. In dog years, it's like a seven year old having sex with a one year old dog. So maybe the drawing wasn't too far from the truth. Except that Mohammed wasn't a dog and Aisha wasn't another dog. He was a grown man having sex with a nine year old girl. :( And his followers today murder innocent people when they think that someone they don't even know insults him.
24. Sweden should first apologise
Mongo ,   Paris   (12.12.10)
For having hurt Moslem sensitivities. Then they should permit sharia law to be practiced throughout Sweden! Let the stoning and beheadings begin!
25. Whatever happened to dialogue?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.12.10)
Isn't the normal course to simply state your grievance and try to work it out? What kind of "people" (I use the term advisedly) are these, whose expression takes the form of unmitigated violence? That was a rhetorical question. I know exactly what Sweden must now deal with. And my heart grieves, both for the people who suffered a stunning loss and for the loss of innocence of the Swedes. Now they know. A horrible lesson, indeed. There are those who are not interested in dialogue. There are those -- despite being minority guests in a land not theirs -- who bring their message in the only way they know. My condolences to the Swedish people -- both for the immediate loss and for the loss of innocence. Strange as it may sound, if the Swedes wish to retain any semblance of control of their society, the best counter to today's despicable events would be to publish an even bigger cartoon. Violence must not be allowed to triumph over freedom of expression. And, of course, my heartfelt sympathies to Sweden -- and the Swedish people -- for the dreadful events today. Take back your lovely country, before it is too late.

Listen, I am sorry that someone died, but your reaction is completely hypocritical. It is not exactly like Sweden condemns terrorist attacks in Israel - rockets, suicide bombs, etc. Really just the opposite. Swedish "intellectuals" and Swedish media has been quick to rationalize the actions of "freedom fighters" and "militants". Now you get a scratch and wine and cry about Jewish voices from a few talk backers and then extend it to "you really are the light to the world..no wonder you are loved so much ". That is racist. Using your logic I would have to say all Swedes are racists, but I reject your logic and you - go crawl back under your rock.
27. To Astrid #6 My condolences to the people who were hurt...
EST ,   Miami USA   (12.12.10)
You still don't get it, right? It's not the Jews you have to blame for your loss. You reap what you sow...Enjoy the fruits of your labor.
28. Just a few harmless Gas Cylinders.Swedes are over reacting!
Alan ,   SA   (12.12.10)
29. And then William and the others are satisfied again!
Jens Jarva ,   North Cape   (12.12.10)
However, I ,and probably many others, will not be eager to join any Western Holy War on Islam. Maybe, I should instead feel sorry for this very young dead man (about 25 years old), who presumably was lured to perform this failed act of terror. An act that injured two people lightly, when a car exploded, and ten minutes later killed this poor man, in a second explosion 300 meters away. Still, assuming, as local media do, that he is a bomb man, I can only wish he had found a better path, because his hands and voice certainly could had performed greater things than this. Many of you bloggers also seem to suppose that this is a rude alarm clock suddenly going off in Sweden. This blast should however not be that much of a surprise, since political violence entered the Nordic scene already in the seventies with Baader Meinhof and a Mossad assassination (of an innocent man in front of his Norwegian wife). It then continued, in the eighties, with a few PLO-bombs against Israeli, American, and Jewish interests in Copenhagen. A part from this, two leading Swedish politicians have been murdered over the last decades. More recently, they found a injured failed bomb man in a park in Copenhagen, and stopped a planned attack on a large shopping centre in Gothenburg (Sweden). Still, all of this, even including unrest in Malmö (Sweden), right wing extremism, and anarchistic violence, is little compared to non-political violence and accidents. In addition, some of us have been exposed to terror risks while visiting London, especially the former risk of experiencing the joyful Christmas nail bombs from the Irish Republican Army (being as sweet as Ulster breath). Personally, I will not worry so much about terror, even though I will spend part of my Christmas in exposed parts of Gothenburg. A city that for decades, due to its small Jewish minority, to some extent has been prepared for potential bombs. Actually, I am far more worried about what nature can throw at me on my potentially adventurous three hour car ride to the nearest cheap air port. And yes, I blame you Israelis and everyone else involved in the current conflicts: Why do you always have to throw petrol on the fire? Well, not THAT fire, there you of course had the sense to use other stuff. Well, at least I will see the sun in southern Scandinavia, that could be a nice break in the middle of the two month polar 'night'.
30. to Astrid
NorthLight ,   North of Israel   (12.12.10)
We are very sorry for everybody who was hurt or killed. Nobody knows better than Israelis what it means to be in constant danger of terror, and the trauma it leaves on the soul. If people sound a bit cynical to your ear, remember what we hear from Sweden all the time: give in to the last Palestinian demand, they are a peaceful people, the Jews are the real danger... Much as we love Astrid Lindgren, Carl Larsson and the beauty of Swedish landscape and culture - Sweden has become a very hostile place for Jews. You have to keep that in mind when you express your views here of "I always knew Jews were disgusting". And we always knew that Swedes hate Jews. So we are equal.
