Your sarcasm is misplaced. We in Israel followed with much dismay how Sweden turned a blind eye to the Jews of Malmo and to the Muslim rocket attacks on civilians here in Israel. What goes around comes around Madam. The Jews of Sweden can always come to Israel. Where will you go?

I just want to clerify that no one in Israel is happy to see that happening in Sweden, yet we do have the need to say :"we told you so, and yet you continue to support them.". It's logical and obvious. Sweden has diplomatic relations with Israel, therefore Sweden is a legitimate target.

My grandmother was swedish and married an american in the 40s. I have a swedish passport. I spent the most amazing summers there in the 70s and, a beautiful enlightened country. I went back in 2006 and it looked like a horror movie, Malmo looked like Saudi Arabia, and since my husband reads arabic he could see hostile statements towards the country in the arabic papers. You chose it. Leave the jews alone, you built your own future, you wanted to feel superior by welcoming all, and now it blows up in your face. We had London, we had 9/11, we had Madrid, it was no joke, but apparently you were superior to all of us and all of this, and now your christmas shopping is interrupted by a couple of blasts. I hope it's the last time, but I am afraid it won't be. Here in Florence the jews are extremely few and peaceful, nobody really sees them or notices them. I can't say the same about the muslims, who literally force society to adapt to their needs, and people are tired now for a couple of years of all the arrogance. I take back my previous cynical remark about Sweden. Why on earth would I expect foreginers to "understand" antisemitic terror while my own brothers& sisters in the Holy Land (about 1/2 of them anyway) can't/don't see the Big Picture?? One, my comment had to do with one early blogger assuming Swedes would blame it on the Jews (and other early bloggers seemingly being pleased that 'the Pal supporting Swedes were hit by the Muslims'). And no, most Swedes will certainly not blame the Stockholm episode on the Jews. Though there are a lot of people throwing fuel on the current conflicts, among those all kinds of Westerners, Muslims, and Indians. This would of course among many others include certain Israelis and certain Muslim neighbours of theirs, of course far from everyone there or anywhere else. Two, the bomb episodes in Copenhagen in the eighties made the Gothenburg police make some preparations for possible bombs. The reason was of course that PLO or related organisations could strike the local Jews or central parts of Gothenburg. This, no one blamed on the local Jews. Three, Israeli intelligence agents were actually caught in Norway in the seventies, after they had killed an innocent man having the same name as a Black September member. Could the Israeli agencies not had gone to the Norwegian police instead, no of course they could not. The wanted to kill all Black Septembers, not catch them in cooperation with European authorities. Four, why can I not feel that it is sad that a young man destroys himself, after he presumably has been lured into a poor path. It is always sad when young people do stupid and destructive things. Well I have never claimed to be Jewish, neither do I claim to be German after four or was it five generations. Still my forefathers belong to me and the places they lived in, whether they at the time were Scandinavians, Finns, local Jews, Germans, very dark haired continentals, or something else that I know less about. I think many Americans understand this, as well as the Copenhagen Jews would do if I were to ask for a particular century old book about the Jewish families in a particular Jutlandic town. And, the remark was an answer to a blogger assuming that Swedes would blame the Jews. Who should be blamed is obviously those involved and everyone throwing fuel on the different but often related fires, which would include people from many groups. I can of course see that Israeli, Palestinians, Druse, Bedouins, Americans, or whatever people call themselves in and around Israel, have been placed in a bad situation. Being in it they could search for a key or for some fuel, but they should not believe that any of the sides is innocent. In this particular Stockholm case, there could of course be a lot of causes ranging from ostracised people in Europe to general unrest in many Muslim societies, and from perceived or real offences committed by the West to Russian acts. And finally to those attacking Astrid from all sides: she might very well be just a seasoned well meaning lady. The name and the manner indicates this. She could of course be ironic, but I would not bet on that.
