1. Could have been worse...
Jeff ,   Maccabim, Israel   (12.13.10)
A lulav may be seen as a dangerous weapon. Also a bag of his mother's kneidelach could be dangerous missiles.
2. REMOTE
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (12.13.10)
I realize New Zealand is very remote and cut off from civilization , these goyim have never seen a jew before .They are still searching for his horns .IGNORANT OR WHAT ??
3. Pagan rituals
Sagi   (12.13.10)
should be practiced in private and not in public places such as airplanes, ships and other forms of public transport.
4. Was it an expression of ignorance or rather an anti-Jewish
Mark ,   Ottawa, ON Canada   (12.13.10)
form of racism?
5. New Zealand bomb scare
MGS ,   Jerusalem Israel   (12.13.10)
"one box taped to his leg and one box seemingly taped to his forehead... there were what seemed to be wires attached to them," Hard to believe. But at least residents of New Zealand can rest assured that their safety is in the hands of professionals whose keen eyes miss nothing!
6. one thing is surely certain
(12.13.10)
goyim are so incredibly ignorant and brainless.
7. @3
(12.13.10)
tell that to the muslims of europe that close the entire street near the notre dame church, praying to their pagan god, taking their dirty smelly shoes off on the side walk and making it impossible for cars to pass, to travel on these roads or fro people to leave their apartments. yes, indeed, tell it to the muslim hoards rather than the jews. paris, france
8. ISRAELIS SHOULD AVOID
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (12.13.10)
Such primitive countries such as New Zealand.
9. # 2 Response
Sagi   (12.13.10)
These "Goyim" are very lucky that they have never seen a Jew.
10. Pagan rituals - #3
Bruce ,   Efrat, Israel   (12.13.10)
Are you including the public display of Christmas Trees and Easter Bunnies, or are you limiting your definition of Pagan Rituals to ancient Jewish rituals?
11. No. 3 I think Not
Madeleine ,   Israel   (12.13.10)
This is not a pagan ritual - who are you and where are you that you co designate the millenia old Jewish custom of tefillin. Shame on you.
12. Suicide terrorism
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (12.13.10)
Did anyone ever see a jewish suicide terrorist ?
13. To all the ignorant
Anonymous ,   Israel   (12.13.10)
Be rational guys, these people hve never seen a jew and especially religious artifacts of the jewish faith. Give them some slack.
14. to #9 sagi, how a jew suppose to look like?
ghostq   (12.13.10)
cause if I said what you said they would probably call me anti semitic. r jews suppose to look like a certain way? and since you r jewish that would include you, cause to some people it doesn't matter they wee treat you all the same.
15. To my attackers
Sagi   (12.13.10)
Christmas is a national holiday and its symbol is a tree. You compare this to a daily pagan ritual ? Dancing round a totem pole, Inca human sacrifice, walking down the street dressed in a clown suit, strapping your forehead and wrist with bits of leather, all these are demeaning to the person doing it and demeaning to others witnessing it. If it has to be done, do it in private. As far as the Muslim incantations and bare footedness are concerned, they are in exactly the same category as leather straps etc. no difference. All religion is both bad and mad and the moment it is expunged from our society we shall all be better off by far. Extreme religious people, of all denominations, are nothing but slaves and the sooner they unfetter themselves the better for them and for us all. Man was born to be free and he can reach unsurmountable heights only when he is free and not shackled to religious nonsense and rituals which are a testimony to his feeble mind.
16. #9 Sagi
SDB ,   ZY Israel   (12.13.10)
You enjoy freedom of speech, while others also enjoy freedom of religion. Both are fine as long as no-one gets hurt. Your comments are simply insulting and offensive to those who have harmlessly adhered to a tradition that's lasted milleinia.
17. #2 and how much do you know about Christian ritual?
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.13.10)
And there are a lot more Christians around than Jews. It would be really nice if we all could know more about everybody else's religion and customs, but you should really face a bit of reality regarding your self importance.
18. #4 I think ignorance is a rather strong word...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.13.10)
... all things considered. How much do most Israeli Jews know about non-Jewish ritual. And PuleezeLoueeze, not everything is antisemitism!
19. #12
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.13.10)
Barouch Goldstein.
20. Sagi
Kate ,   London, UK   (12.13.10)
Sagi attempt to dress up his racism in the language of someone who is merely opposed to all religion. The fact is that someone who writes the following (#9) is unquestionably a virulent Jew-hater: 'These "Goyim" are very lucky that they have never seen a Jew.'
21. New Zealand attacking the wrong people, as usual
Joseph ,   US   (12.13.10)
little Jewish boy wearing tefillin same as Jesus wore...yet they vote on the side of religion where there is a real threat. when Muslims admit Mohammeds travesties and reform their role model, then we can talk.
22. To #3 who are the Pagans
Shalom ,   Ashdod, Israel   (12.13.10)
Are you including bowing down to a wooden cross?? That is paganism
23. # 11 Response
Sagi   (12.13.10)
I happen to be Jewish because that is the way I was born. I do not regard This as a religion but rather as a Nationality. I can not deny that I am Jewish in the same way that a Chinaman, even being born in America five generations, can not stand up and declare "I am not Chinese, I am American". I happen to be a confirmed aetheist and I happen to believe that the concept of "God" is both bad and mad, for the individual and for Humanity as a whole. No, I am not ashamed and I shall expound my opinions as and where I feel the need to. Right now I feel the need to do this as the strength and numbers of the "black coated community" are increasing daily and endangering my freedom. I use the term "black coats" entirely on purpose as to me this is a symbol of where they are attempting to lead us. Into the pitch black darkness of ignorance and idleness. Sorry, but I am not ashamed.
24. "One box taped to his leg"
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.13.10)
Yeah, right. Do you know, if you stand on a street corner in New York City and stare skyward for a bit, you will attract a crowd that swears it has seen an alien spaceship. Wrapping tefillin (which my father, of blessed memory, did every day) and which my husband does every day. Wires connecting a bomb? Oh, Lord, what fools these mortals be. I confess -- I find it rather silly that thee are a couple of billion people in the world that think that some magical words turn a wafer and wine into body and blood. That's cannibalism, isn't it? I find it equally silly that prostrating yourself on the ground five times a day is a show of worship. Does anyone get arrested or fall under suspicion for the foregoing? No. They do not. But a Jew wrapping tefillin? Wow, let's get the army out. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Sad and pathetic, isn't it?
25. Didn't they make the same mistake in the USA a while back...
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.13.10)
...and in one of those states loaded with Christian fundamentalists who love us so much they are willing to fight to the last Israeli soldier for their beliefs?
26. im not jewish
jem   (12.13.10)
and i saw this for the first time when i went to israel. its not the fault of "goyim" that they dont know a ritual of the jewish faith. in short, get over yourselves, youre not that important.
27. Sagi #23
Non-Jew ,   England   (12.13.10)
I am also an atheist, but I seem to have a slightly different attitude to you. Just as the religious cannot definitively prove there is a G_d, I do not think you or I can prove there isn't. And while I do feel the balance of the evidence is in atheism's favour, there must therefore also always remain an element of doubt. I therefore see nastiness to those who do believe in a G-d as just as dogmatic and arrogant as that of a religio-fascist person, who would like to force you to their own beliefs. What other people believe is their choice, and as long as they also respect my (and others') choice not to believe what they do, and to live their lives accordingly, that's OK with me.

miri ,   miami usa   (12.13.10)
boy hose new zealanders are really sophisticated aren't they. do they have indoor plumbing?
29. Humanity FAIL
David P. ,   Capitola, CA   (12.13.10)
if we distinguish between... how will we ever succeed?
30. Ferry schedule
Maude ,   Picton, NZ   (12.13.10)
The ferry that the Israeli passenger was on (the only one during the hours when morning prayers would be recited) either departed Wellington at 2:25am and arrived in Picton at 5:35am, or left Wellington at 8:25 am and arrived at 11:35 am. In the former case he could (and should have waited until he had arrived in Picton); in the latter case he should have recited his prayers before boarding the vessel. This appears to have been a provocation intended to provoke an incident between Israel and New Zealand or to garner publicity for the gentleman in question. I wonder what the reaction would have been on an Israeli vessel or airplane had an unfamiliar non-Jewish ritual accompanied by similar paraphernalia been publicly displayed.
