There are the more adventurous people, who want to go out and see what's out there. They like to go out and explore and find things that are beautiful and breathtaking. However they have to be really careful or they might stumble accross things that are really ugly too.

Basically predator types are in all societies and they're going to pick situations in which they can be sure of winning and that aren't especially difficult. For example let's say that they have big knifes, are strong, have an element of surprise, a secluded area, and that they were studing the women first. Now you take a look at the women. They're probably laughing and talking not studing their surroundings, probably definitely not in martial arts fighting shape and they might have had something to drink, which slowed their reaction times and their judgement. They don't have weapons (with the knive it was probably used for taking samples of plants or something). In this case, neither one of them should have survived, but something might have spooked the perpetrators to run. And there probably is a lot of cowardliness involved in such acts.

Despite years of factual evidence pointing to Palestinian violence against unarmed civilians, Groves thinks it's just a case of mistaken identity, and the two attackers were really English instigators dressed as Arabs. Groves cannot accept the fact that Palestinian policy - both Fatah and Hamas - is to educate and train young Palestinian attackers to go kill Israeli civilians in order to "resist the occupation."

If your theory proves truthful, I will concede you are right on the money.
