In the Islamic world, venerating or even acknowledging the status of saints is bid'ah (innovation). As a Jew living in the Diaspora, it is almost unbelievable to learn that Israel is having a large scale intermarriage problem! I've friends who made aliyah, among other reasons, so that their children could grow in a Jewish environment and to ensure that they would have Jewish grandchildren! Racism and bigotry, of course, are out of order, and violence should be abhorred - but I feel terribly depressed to learn that even in Israel intermarriage and assimilation dangers are lurking around the corner!! How very, very sad that proud Israelis, daughters and sons of Am Israel, the real elite of the Jewish people, those who chose to live in Eretz Israel and to fulfill a 2,000 year dream, would not only raise families outside the faith, but have spouses coming from a people which so openly and widely despises and hates Jews!!
