31. Lack of ME peace maybe dangerous for US influence
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (12.21.10)
The US is starting to pay a price for defending Israel in UN and not getting talks restarted. China and Brazil want more power and say in the world and will come at cost to US, with the US dollar no longer the worlds main currency and US losing some control over world banking. Most in US Congress are wealthy but US workers will pay the price in the next decade and deep cuts to most foreign aid likely.

were just critiszing Obama and the US till now. Truth of the matter is Lula is right. US congress with its uncondional and blind support to Israel has weaken the US admin to the extent it had to admit to the PALS and the world it has failed. Thus, creating a void that others are going to fill. US congress - carful what you wish for...:)..
34. To avoid the wrath of YHWH, America should opt out of
Rivkah   (12.21.10)
all Mid-East peace talks that are not in Israel's best interests. America should be concerned about its borders and other issues within America instead of negotiating peace where there is not peace in the Middle East.
35. Im old enough to remember Carters Presidency
Alan ,   SA   (12.21.10)
I can tell you his last half of his only term was a lot like where Obama is now.I think Barry Soetero AKA Hussein O'B also will be a one termer .
36. Carter did not succeed as President.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (12.21.10)
Why would anyone think he can do better now, with no power behind him. The definition of stupid is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Pedro ,   Brazil   (12.21.10)
You are right almost everything you said, but the statement "refuses to persecute Nazi era war criminals" is not true. So stop to repeat the same liar all the time. Today we know that after WW2 many Nazi escaped to USA too. Brazil is dozen times bigger than Israel (8 million km2) and for somebody keep hiden here 50 or 60 years ago, was not a difficult task.
38. #36 Actually, that's Einstein's definition of 'insanity'.
For sure Carter ,   is in that category.   (12.21.10)
39. Lula
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.21.10)
Frankly, I think he'd have considerably more credibility were he to do something -- ANYTHING! -- with respect to those disgraceful favellas which are part and parcel of every city in Brazil. As it is, he's done nothing. There is much to be done to bring Brazil into the contemporary era. I suggest he devote his remaining days in office (all nine of them) to fixing Brazil's many ills. I doubt he can point to the Middle East on a map, so he's better off steering well clear of that which he knows nothing. Not that his ignorance has ever stopped him in the past ....
40. Lula on Mideast
Aimee Kligman ,   New York, USA   (12.21.10)
Lula is 100% right on this point. I am American and Jewish and still can see the imbalance in the equation as it stands now. The US is heavily influenced by the pockets of the Jewish Lobby, so it can never be an honest broker. If anything, people like Lula can be better intermediaries where they have no interest in anything other than fairness. The man is also a model for success; just look what he's done for Brazil. He speaks from a position of strength.
41. Carter is obsessed with Israel. And they call

others try. I wonder, who's going to be next for Carter to partner with after Lula fails.
43. To @ 23 and @31
Lengualima ,   I   (12.21.10)
Conform to your comment, all problems of the USA, economics, politics, military. will be solve removing the support of USA to Israel. Are you sure of that? 1. All the problems of the USA are not fault of Israel. 2. The Middle East problem is more complex that as you see. 3. If Israel disappears today, tomorrow all will be harmony in the region. False, before 1917 the Arabs blamed of all his problems to Otomans, after 1917 to the British, after 1948 to Israel and USA. tomorrow who will be? 4. If USA today remove his support to Israel the Arabs-Muslims would love USA. False, the conflict is not only originated by one political or territorial problems, but for the reject of a diferent culture, and numerous Arabs-Muslims think the Occidental culture is corrupt, decadent, sinful, diferent. and therefore must be destroyed. 5. If USA do not support Israel and remove his troops from Afhganistan and Irak the terrorism would end. False, all the radical Muslims, who are fighting in these countries, would have free hands will do it in USA and Europe. I understand your point of view, is very human. But not ever the wide way is the best. The best.
44. Brazil peace plan
Issy Hass ,   Ra'anana-Isreal   (12.21.10)
Sir-President Lela Da Silva with President Carter having the mgic wond to solve the ME peace plan they are known for their hostility towards Israel to come with a fair solution
45. Aimee Kligman @ 40, what makes you think that:
leo ,   usa   (12.21.10)
First, the only one side is influenced by big money and ... Second, what makes you believe that Brasil will be different in this respect. And lastly, have you ever met unbiased person or organization? Please, forgive me, but you are very naive person. Grow up.
46. 36&38: That is a false definition of insanity or stupidity.
Rivkah   (12.21.10)
YHWH EXPECTS people to petition over and over and over again, not losing faith that He can answer. Abraham waited until he was 90 to have a son with Sarah, his covenant wife. If he had not done the same thing over and over (pray), he would not have been a blessing to his descendants forever. The Jewish Messiah would not have been in his line. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome is God's way to break through a wall. You hit a wall enough times and then it breaks down. You hit it once and quit, and the victory is not yours there if the objective was to break down the wall. If at first you don't suceed, try try again is a better way to look at failures that eventually lead to success if you don't give up. Gesenius' Hebrew Lexicon defines strength as not giving up. What did YHWH say to Moses? "Go on!" Quiting is what stupid and insane people do best. Not hanging in there until a positive outcome is achieved.
47. The smartest thing Brazil has done that America should
Rivkah   (12.21.10)
emulate is abolishing the Central Bank and erasing the national debt which has made Brazil a prosperous nation.

49. To: No. 47
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.21.10)
Rivkah, Rivkah, Rivkah. The United States HAS no Central Bank in the way that most European countries and Brazil do. What the United States has is the Federal Reserve -- not the same thing. Why do you call upon the U.S. to abolish what it does not have? Brazil a propserous nation? How do you define prosperity? The fact of the matter is that one percent of Brazil's population control 99% of the country's wealth. The vast majority of Brazilians live in despicable, poverty-stricken circumstances. That is not how I define prosperity. The simple truth is that one cannot go unescorted to a bank or an ATM machine in Rio or Sao Paulo, because of the rabid packs of urchins that roam the streets of those cities, looking to prey upon tourists. That's not my idea of "prosperity," either. Brazil may have tons of natural resources, a healthy maritime economy and a thriving tourist trade, but it is a crippled and dying country in terms of the social situation. The only two healthy countries in Latin America are Chile and Uruguay. Every other nation is an accident waiting to happen.

Actually, that would be Ph.D. Unfortunately, I do not have one. I wish I did; when the kids are all grown and out of the house, it's something I may very well pursue.

GOOD ,   USA   (12.21.10)
You are Jewish my a$$. No Jew will recite the Nazi talking points you just did (Your words - "The US is heavily influenced by the pockets of the Jewish Lobby"). You tell us who has more money, the Jewish lobby or the petrodollar soaked Arab lobby? Bigot.
53. 49 Sarah B., USA: The Federal Reserve IS the Central Bank
Rivkah   (12.21.10)
in America. It needs to be abolished. You need to read some more. There is much that is wrong with Brazil, but Brazil was so right to take back control of its money supply by abolishing the Central Bank there. America should not pay a private bank (Federal Reserve Bank) to print money and owe interest on the debt for that. How horrible. President Wilson had a stroke in judgment from God after signing the Federal Reserve Act into law, robbing the American taxpayers to fund European fatcats in their opulent luxury. Fed Chairman Ben Bernake admits to giving trillions of US dollars to foreign banks.
54. To: No. 53
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.21.10)
The Federal Reserve is a privately owned bank. Didn't you know that? Evidently, you did not. Well, here's a news flash: The Federal Reserve Bank is a private corporation. Not a central bank. The United States Constitution expressly prohibits a central bank. The Federal Reserve Bank does not print or coin money. The United States Treasury is the only entity empowered to print and coin money. Rivkah, you have been reading way too many conspiracy theories. Ease up; paranoia is not a good thing.
55. 54 Sarah B., USA/Israel: Controlling a nation's money supply
Rivkah   (12.21.10)
is the motivation behind having a privately controlled Central Bank. The Federal Reserve authorizes the printing of money by the Treasury Department which purchases the money and pays interest on it to the Federal Reserve Bank, an privately owned bank that funnels hard earned US tax dollars to European fat cats. It is the Rothschilds who promote having a Central Bank since if they control the money supply, they can collapse an economy if the government does not kowtow to them. Contact US Representative Ron Paul and ask for his articles on the Federal Reserve Bank that were published in American Free Press. You will learn how evil the Federal Reserve is and what it is. It is not a National government bank. It is a privately owned siphoning machine to drain off America's riches.

his big mouth again? .Did he run out of peanuts in the south?.Maybe he should help ahmadino with his new 'pistachio nut venture".

kris ,   chicago,USA   (12.28.10)
Why do you hit back at anything related to Israel? It's like passing a judgement with out even going through a trial. Why can't you accept the fact that people can be cruel - on both sides - israelis or palestines. You should be grateful that Israel was even created out of a Palestine land. Jews were driven out of Europe and they found a safe haven in Palestine. What do they do in return? They try to drive out their hosts and subject them to the same brutality that they were subjected to, in Europe.
58. Lula
Mila ,   Brasil   (12.29.10)
No, he's not an idiot, he was a VERY good president and one hell of a good politician. And Brazil maintains good relationship with Israel.
59. Lula
Mila ,   Brasil   (12.29.10)
I don't have the statistics on the tip of my tongue, but the last I consulted IBGE's statistics, 17 million people were off the poverty line, the many social projects Lula has implemented ( like Pronaf, for instance ) are sailing smoothly and so on. And yes, we have many huge inequality problems which Lula tackled. Of course, the elite, who hates poor people are indignant and say how come poor people have access now to consumer goods? There's still much to be done and I believe that the next president will concentrate more in internal affairs than international ones. But don't underestimate what Lula has done for this country. If you really want to know about it, just do some research. It is not, as you say, a dying and crippled country. And for your information I go around Rio without the need for an escort and have never once been robbed.Which has happened in Paris and Beijing.
