1. You had your chance but idf cannot fight man to man
Present   (12.21.10)
Gaza does not have air plans. In the past idf used to enter and leave Gaza freely. idf will never fight in the streets of Gaza. Its a new era with new stuff. Did I say idf will never enter Gaza then leave alive
2. Why are tanks being sent in without Trophy?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (12.21.10)
For several years, Israel and the IDF have boasted about the protection provided by the Trophy system. Was this only a boast to promote sales to foreign countries? Don't IDF troops deserve that protection? I've read elsewhere that Trophy-equipped tanks are being fielded, so why aren't those tanks the ones sent into Gaza? Are they also, like Iron Dome, being held in storage?
3. As you get new weapans so do we
viva ataturck ,   occupied kurdistain   (12.21.10)

6. Solution: Use better armor on tanks
Howie ,   Montreal, Canada   (12.21.10)
A Kornet missile that did not even explode penetrated a Merkava's armor? No wonder no other country has decided to purchase Merkava tanks. Your tanks' armor is plain and simple insufficient and defective. Find or design better armor for them now to prevent more Israeli soldiers from dying or being wounded by anti-tank attacks. And buy some big fire-fighting planes so you don't have to depend on your enemy Turkey to send Turkey's planes to help you put out your forest fires. You have to be strong and independent because the only people who are helping Israel survive are Jews and a few million Christians. Most of the rest of the world is against you because you don't have oil to export to them to fuel their economies, so now's not the time to play video games. In the 1973 war, most Israeli tanks were destroyed by anti-tank TOW missiles. If you don't make some changes, too many of your tanks will be destroyed by anti-tank missiles from Gaza, Syria, Lebanon and who knows maybe even Egypt and Jordan in the next war. Wake up!
7. How about the "Big" F-18 Sorties
Chris.B ,   Australia   (12.21.10)
I love the drama created by the IDF. 1970's anti tank missiles used by the Palestinians it's a catastrophy. A good excuse to go on another killing spree I expect. Cast lead 2 The return of the cluster bomb. Maybe now the IDF will think twice about destroying peoples homes. Can't wait for the SA-18's to arrive.lol
8. Kornet was no problem for U.S. in Iraq
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (12.21.10)
The terrorists tried the Kornet in Iraq and not 1 U.S. Tank was lost,i think it's because the U.S uses Infantry alongside the Tanks they work hand in hand.
9. to number 1
tom ,   bsas,argentina   (12.21.10)
reallly? So the ¨palestinians¨can still wait for a ¨sate¨they never had nor there won´t be in the future. LONG LIVE ISRAEL

Story to excuse yourselves for killing innocence.
12. Prime Minister Ashkenazi
Ariya gothelf ,   Gedera israel   (12.21.10)
This is the kind of man Israel will need in its future to lead a nation and give the enemies of Israel a swift answer and not alot of babble . The best leaders in this countries history were all fighters in one way or another , not pussycat politicians who will not stand up in the time of need and when its time to take the blame for mistakes .
13. failed to explode; the message is clear
observer   (12.21.10)
next time it will take how many lives with it? Good bye pin pricks!
14. Israel's Clear Message
Marcel ,   Florida   (12.21.10)
Your failure to totally defeat Hamas and Hizbollah will go down in history as Israel's two greatest blunders. It will be much harder to finish the job next time because your idiot leaders were more interested in pleasing their pimps of no peace in Washington. Targeting empty building at night with no casualties while opening up trade to the Islamic terrorist enclave is a clear message of RESTRAINED Israel's pathetic slide down the politically correct hole, all to please their false peace pimps. Why has the quick and agile lion that roared at Entebee turned into the paralyzed kitty with a faint guilt ridden purr ? Because they have turned away from G-d to serve idols.
15. Can't afford the Trophy system, try Quran
BDS   (12.21.10)
it may be your most successful tank defense system and dirt cheap.
16. IDF' feeble reactions to terror shelling
RayS ,   N.H. USA   (12.21.10)
Bombing tunnels, firing on Perpetrators will never suceed in making a more peaceful Gaza. The reaction to each "incident" should be firing (bombing) out a significant facility (ie ,a powerplant, a fuel depot, , any kind of essential part of the civil and/or military apparatus. That will get their attention.
17. Oh no they have anti tank missles
tough life   (12.21.10)
this is a game changer, we need 20 more F 35 said the Isrealites..
18. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.21.10)
Innocence? Oh, excuse me. You must mean the ersatz "Palestinian" definition of "innocence," viz., someone who has yet to kill a Jew. We are so sick to death of you. Israel is a nuclear power -- think long and hard about whether you wish to challenge Israel or not. I guarantee you that you will not like the outcome. Better to just go quietly to Jordan. Or would you rather wait until your sorry asses are repatriated to the country of your citizenship. P.S. You meant "innocents." For the record, there is no such thing in Gaza.
19. To: No. 7
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.21.10)
By "killing spree," do you mean the tens of millions of Aborigines that were massacred by British criminals who arrived on the convict transports?
20. Kornet Missile can engage slow and low flying helicopters
observer   (12.21.10)
during the 2006 Lebanon War, the Kornet missiles, supplied by Russia, were successfully used by Hezbollah fighters to destroy Israeli Merkava tanks. The 9M133 missiles had 9P163-1 tripod launcher and 1PN79-1 thermal sight.
21. Rod #8 Kornet not used in Iraq
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (12.21.10)
Sorry to explain the facts but Kornet has not been used in Iraq yet. Don't be too proud - 75% of your casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan have been to roadside bombs. Over 4,000 killed. Us less than 10.
22. Rod from Dakota
Allon   (12.21.10)
Go on Youtube and type in... Iraq American Tank or something along those lines. Unless the vids have been removed there are plenty documentations of destroyed Abrahms - by devices even less than a Kornet. The Kornet is a formidable missile.
23. Amos Yadlin is HAPPY because Hamas took over Gaza,
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.21.10)
what about you Mr. Ashke-nazi ?! Ynet, if you censor this post , you will loose me......................just kidding ; )
24. #21 who are his?
observer   (12.21.10)
During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Kornets were used by Iraqi forces to attack American armored vehicles, however, none of these vehicles were destroyed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9M133_Kornet you must be non-American or must have been having loyalty problem?
25. Kornet missile's accuracy <5 m
observer   (12.21.10)
I think the Merkava is more than 5 m in length, so hit is guaranteed.
26. Palestinians Have the Right to Defend Themselves
DAVID ,   USa   (12.21.10)
They should acquire anti-tank/anti-aircraft in order to defend themselves and resist occupation/siege/warehousing. International law gives the right to resist occupation. Good luck to them, and bad luck for the occupiers!
27. "I know my people, they won't open fire on refugees."
Jo ,   USA   (12.21.10)
...But the shoot Palestinian civilians and children. Yah, this is the "most moral army!"
28. #1, Obviously some made it, otherwise which 4 did the palis
(12.21.10)
blame for the war crimes?
29. get Trophy fitted to all tanks ASAP
zionist forever   (12.21.10)
The sooner Trophy is fitted to all tanks the better. The Trophy system which the military plans to fit to all Merkavas and Namer APCS is designed to stop anti tank missiles ike Kornet. So far only about 1 tank brigade and the Namers as they roll off the production line have been fitted with Trophy. The people that are currently using it in the field is the US in Afghanistan who have bought Trophy because their own version is not yet a mature enough system to be put into mass development. In general though I think the Merkvas have preforned pretty well agaist the Kornets. In Lebanon wabout 50 tanks were hit by Kornets ( mostly Merkava 2 ) but the majority of them were rapaired and have since been put back in service and their crews survived.
30. Re:21 &24
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (12.21.10)
#24 Yea I'm American i said no U.S. tanks were destroyed. From wiki Combat history During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Kornets were used by Iraqi forces to attack American armoured vehicles, however, none of these vehicles were destroyed.[11] The second verified episode of Kornet ATGM in combat use occurred during the 2006 Lebanon War, where the missiles, reportedly supplied by Syria, were successfully used by Hezbollah fighters to destroy Israeli Merkava tanks.[12] One of the first detailed accounts of IDF's successful capture of Kornet ATGMs on Hezbollah positions in the village of Ghandouriyeh appeared in the Daily Telegraph article, which also reported that the boxes were marked with "Customer: Ministry of Defense of Syria. Supplier: KBP, Tula, Russia".[13] Several months after the cease-fire, reports have provided sufficient photographic evidence that Kornet ATGMs were indeed both in possession of, and used by, Hezbollah in this area.[14][15] Israel claims that Russian weapons were smuggled to Hezbollah by Syria, and Israel has sent a team of officials to Moscow to show Russia the evidence of what they say can only be Syrian weapons transfers.[16] Despite initial public denials by the Russian officials that any proof of actual use of Kornet by Hezbollah has been presented,[17][18] the Russian government in fact has moved to tighten control over the use of Russian-made weapons by the importing states, suggesting that the visit of the Israeli delegation did bear fruit, although it might have nothing to do with Kornet.[19] On 6 December 2010 a Kornet launched from the Gaza strip penetrated the armour of a Merkava tank on the Israeli side of the border but failed to explode and caused no injuries. Following this incident, the IDF decided to deploy near the Gaza strip Merkava tanks fitted with the anti-missile defense system Trophy active protection system. #21 SEE ABOVE
