1. Article is filled with all kinds of typographical errors
christianpalestinian ,   las vegas, nevada   (12.29.10)
YNET has done a terrible job in publishing this article on its website. It has so many typo errors, on top of the fact that this newly discovered natural resource under the meditteranean should be equally shared with the Palestinian people.
2. At $45 billion there is plenty of profit for gas companies
zionist forever   (12.29.10)
They naturally want to pay as little as possible in royalties because the less they pay in royalties the more they pay their shareholders. They of course will say its not profitable if we have to pay so much or sorry we are going to pull out the project but they are just plying games & making idol threats. There is still many billions of dollars in profit to be made even after expenses and royalties which makes it worth drilling. This gas belongs to the Israeli people not Noble or Delek and once its all used up its gone for good so we deserve as much in royalties as possible. If 66% is to high for Noble & Delek they are welcome to sell up their rights to drill there will be plenty of takers. Already the Russian company Gazprom wants in so as long as the government remains firm it can demand its 66%.
3. Don't Forget About Us !
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.29.10)
you are so greedy , you took our lands and water, NOW our Gas : (
4. To #3: "Salma the Idiot"
Reuven Ben-Tal ,   Jerusalem   (12.29.10)
You are such an idiot Salma! Based on what do you claim the gas is arab?! There is absolutely nothing to share with you, simply because there is no logical reason to do so. Do the Saudis share their gas and oil with us? Now, it's gas. Yesterday, it was land (the Land of Israel). Tomorrow, you will claim that the "palestinians" wrote the Bible and that you will demand royalties!! The greedy ones are you and not us! Concentrate on looking for gas and oil any place you wish in the countries from which you came. Look for land in so-called "jordan". And try writing something equivalent to the Bible and receiving 22% of Nobel Prizes rather than leeching on what others have produced.
5. Same old Arab refrain (#s 1 and 3): Now
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (12.29.10)
that Israel has done the hard work, invested the money, took the risks and managed the knowhow, Palestinians want in and claim it is theirs. Same happened when Jews first came to the land, worked the malaria infested ground and altered the desert so that plants could grow after which Arabs claimed (and still claim) it was theirs. I used to actually feel sorry for Palestinians until it came to me that they are, largely, social welfare addicted folks who refuse to take constructive initiatives. As a result, I feel no sympathy when I realize that progress and improved living conditions have passed them by. The only thing they seem to excell at is (false) propaganda.
6. Salma...Yes we are greedy...
Ariel ,   Argentina   (12.29.10)
At least you have your generous muslim cousins in Saudi Arabia and Iran ready to flood Gaza and the West Bank with millions of dollars from oil to develop those territories into the "garden of eden"...as they have been doing for the last 62 years...You dont need our gas with so much black gold in your hands...Enjoy...

typical arab!!! the jews do all the work and the arabs demand a share. it is not your water shelf. as far as we are concerned, it is is israeli water borders, marked by international law. if you arabs want to invest billions and do the hard work of drilling somewhere else where you say it is yours, be our guests. no one is telling you not to do what israel did. arabs are lazy, always demanding something that they never worked for and is not theirs legally to begin with. if this was done in lebanese water markation and legal areas, would you arab and palestinians demand a share of it??? i thought not. only israel is not allowed according to you to use its land and sea resources. why??? you hypocrite arab. learn to work for a living, to produce, to have a peaceful society and a less corrupt government and learn to slave and labour like the jews who built their country from scratch and who are sure that if it was left up to you arabs, it will still be a backwater like in 1940's. you have never done anything in your life, arabs. never. everything that was discovered in all your lands was done so by the west. till nowdays you have no knowledge of how to refine oil without western expertise. shame on you for daring to demand something that is not yours legally and also something you didn't invest a cent in. typical arabs and palestinians..always with the hand extended for money from others and for support from others without a day's work. your society is the biggest hand out society in the world and after 63 years, it is truly a shame. you have done nothing with your lives and now demand free handouts in this too? have you no shame? hameed aboughaze, iranian

haifa and the water around it is yours???? not according to international law or the united nation, my dear. go cry to your "government "and corrupt leaders who have never lifted their fingers to do a decent job for its people. do not blame israel for something you do not own in the first place.

(12.29.10)
and why should it be shared? have the pals done anything to research, spend billions on drilling and so forth? no??? i thought so! this is not international water near haifa. it is part of the israeli water shelf and it belongs strictly to israel.
10. Under proposed terms this project wont happen
Bob Marly ,   Denver, USA   (12.29.10)
$45 billion "MAY" be the value of the gas in the ground assuming oil-linked LNG pricing. After drilling the wells and building LNG facilities and paying 66% royalties and taxes... what's left??? Given those assumptions, there is no way any company would foolish enough to take on this project.
11. #3 Salma
David ,   America   (12.29.10)
Believe me Salma, gas is something that you have NO shortage of. You are about the biggest gas bag I have ever encountered.
12. #3
Jeff ,   USA   (12.29.10)
Well then maybe if your brethern quit building weapons and trying to murder others everyday, then you could have your own state and actually look for it off of Gaza and or int he West Bank..Fat chance on that, you like the murder to much huh?
13. Others find, develop, build. Arabs say "It's ours!"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (12.29.10)
Lebanon was first out of the block to claim Israel's gas finds were Lebanese. Now Salma throws her in her own claims on behalf of "Palestine". But there's much precedence here. Palestine itself until well into the 19th century was a backwater wasteland. Then the Jews came back to reclaim, build and develop. And the Arabs came streaming in from neighboring lands to take advantage of the new opportunities. And of course they now claim, "It's ours!"
14. First Pals want from River2Sea.Now they want the Sea as well

15. Salma says Israel took her gas... - #3
Kate ,   katej@yahoo.com   (12.29.10)
But she is so full of hot air, she really doesn't need any gas. In any event, I'm pretty positive that the Palestinian state of Jordan has no claim here.
16. #3 Wrong!!! BIBLE AND KORAN state
andy ,   orlando,u.s   (12.29.10)
land of Israel given by God to the Jewish people. UN also endorsed in 1947 assembly resolution. Get your facts straight before coming out with BS!!!!
17. Salma, you are funny!
eddie ,   london UK   (12.29.10)
Actually, without getting into the conflict debate, Barak gave you a big gas field off Gaza coast. Bu instead of cooperating with your neighbours, you are more interested in smuggling more rockets to fire at Israel. Shame on the Palestine leadership, who keep their people in perpetual poverty and conflict, in order to get more cannon fodder and more support from the radicals.
18. Anyone know about discovering OIL????
Yehoshua J1   (12.29.10)
19. Good news for Israel
John ,   Boise, Idaho USA   (12.29.10)
Yes, excellent news for Israel. I think it is best for the US to place their money into the coffers of Israel than to inadvertently and indirectly place it into the hands of terrorists. This is Israel's find and Israel's keep.
20. #3 - Salma, get a grip!
Scott ,   USA   (12.29.10)

zionist forever   (12.29.10)
Why the hell should Israel share the gas with the palestinians ... as a goodwill gesture towards peacemaking maybe? That would be a hell of an expensive peace making gesture. The palestinians claim that the want a state only within the territory Israel captured in 1967 and it had Haifa before 1967 and did not share it with anybody so why share it with palestinians? I don't suppose the saudis want to share their oil fields with Israel do they? If we are going to share with the palestinians then lets share with Lebanon I mean Hizbollahstan as well because they have already said the gas belongs to them and Hizbollah have even threatened to go to war over it. Whilst we are at it we could share it with syria because I am sure its only a matter of time before Assad tries to stake a claim to it. Lets just share it with anybody who wants it to prove we just want to be good neghbors.
23. Salma I hate to be the bearer of bad news
zionist forever   (12.29.10)
The fact is this is not your land, its not your water and its not your gas. If you are looking for these things then I suggest looking in the Mukata. You will find Abbas crying and spewing his usual hot air moaning about how unfair it is palestinians don't have a state but refuses to talk to Israel about the possibility of getting one.
24. Beside the point who own the gas there are other
tea man ,   marjayoun   (12.29.10)
problems the discovery is infliated to sell shares its a sort of Madoff gas scheme Last couple of weeks they issue different estimate and difficulty extracting the gas now they change the story other problem Lebanon willnot let you drill until you mark the border lebanon has the lion share in that field
25. #24 american company and israeli government
ronen   (12.29.10)
say the gas is in israeli water. so i believe them. if you dont than you should provide a map that supports your view. something which the lebanese government has not done so far. im curious why that is so.
26. I have only one question, is it enough to outbid Arabs in
leo ,   usa   (12.29.10)
the war for public opinion? If not, then who cares.
27. When it comes to think of it, gas money can be used to pay
leo ,   usa   (12.29.10)
Arabs to get the hell out of Judea. $45B should do it. Hey, Salma, do you want some gas money?
28. small problem

30. Deep water drilling &only 40% likely without water injection
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (12.29.10)
Far less profit in gas than oil and at over a mile down, its high risk and at 66% royalties the cost to risk ratio will be slim. Also if pressure on gas not great then water injection will be needed and cut deeper into any profits. Above 40% royalties may not be worth it now for drilling companies.
