37. Delekate fuel for a Noble Peace Initiative
Egon B.E. Friberger ,   Brussels, Belgium   (12.29.10)
While Israel of all nations deserves the Nobel Peace Prize - as a state and contrary to widespread low level propaganda - , that unfortunately looks, however unjustified, outside the realms of regional ‘Realpolitik’. All the more important and possibly decisive is that this Noble Energy opportunity with adequate Delekacy provides some incentive fuel for a drive to a supranational EU-style structure among Israel and her neighbours and to a reciprocal warming of hearts. Knowing that the fight for resources is often the root cause of violence and war, it is much more of a priority to the UN to press for such a supranational structure of mutual understanding and sharing prosperity than to spend one moment more on that persistent unproductive futile Palestinian quetsh on settlements and other pretexts.

Depends on how important you think Europe is. Europe for the most part currently depends on natural gas supplied by Russia. The logistics are nightmarish and the gas expensive. Europe had started contractual negotiations with Turkey for the supply of natural gas, but when the first huge find was discovered off the coast of Haifa two years ago, the EU and some individual European countries immediately abandoned contract negotiations with Turkey and commenced negotiations with Israel -- makes perfect logistic sense, and will be cost-effective from the European perspective. Up until today, the world's largest natural gas reserves were found in Indonesia. Now Israel can claim the greatest natural gas reserves. Sweet.

Wrong.
40. For Salma
The Truth ,   Jerusalem/NY   (12.30.10)
Salma, Through the months ive noticed alot of nothing but anti Israel comments written by you, sometimes it seems like you comment the most redicilous anti israel comment you can think of; its like you get off on pissing people off...(which is extremely typical of your people by the way...ms palestine), nevertheless, regardless of how u thrive on automatially making sure a negative point is made, you gotta love the fact that you are allowed to make all these redicilous comments on this Israeli/Jewish website; i tried commenting against a point made in an al-jazeera website, and my comment was immediately removed from the list because the point i was making, although in a very educated matter, went against your "democratic" ideology. so go ahead and comment away, i even get a laugh out of you every now and then...go ahead and enjoy on our website what your own wont let you enjoy...your own point of view.

If the find was made in Ramallah, would you also have said that it should be equally shared with the Jewish people?

Praise the Almighty who has provided a wonderful treasure for His chosen people, the Jewish nation of Israel.

u all makes me feel sick, just read back your comments and try to think before you talk,
45. #42 John, Allow me to answer your question,
Salma ,   Palestine   (12.30.10)
If the find was made in Ramallah, there is No need to say it should be equally shared with the Jewish people , because the "IDF" would not wait one minute, they'd put their hand on it without batting an eyelash!
46. To: No. 44
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.30.10)
I agree. Salma and the other apologists for the ersatz "Palestinians," the Lebanese and all the other leeches who have absolutely no legitimate claim to Israel's natural gas find make me sick, too. Oh well. By the way -- "Salma" and "think" are incompatible concepts. But you get one point for trying!
47. To: No. 45
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.30.10)
Eat your heart out, oh jealous one! If the ersatz "Palestinians" would devote time and effort to education instead of violence and terror, perhaps they, too, can become geologists, marine biologists and geophysical engineers. Yeah, right. As if ....

Bless you, sir! I wish you and those you hold close a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. As a Jew, I thank you for your staunch support of Israel. It means more to us than you can know!
49. 28 & 37
zionist forever   (12.30.10)
Ken Non of this gas in in Lebanese waters only according to the maps the Lebanese have drawn up no the maps held by Israel or Cyprus. We don't share our natural recourses with anybody and certainly not with enemies. This gas is the property of the Israeli public. Egon B.E The EU itself is bad enough we certainly don't want anything like that in Israel and sharing gas worth billions for a gesture of goodwill to warm hearts and minds or even for the so called peace process joke sorry but thats a price to high.
50. Awesome
Shweet ,   Oz   (12.31.10)
so now Israel is not only a superpower in high-tech, bio-genetics, the sciences, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and green energy; now also in the all so easy money of Gas... and a little bird told me that under all this gas is a nice thick layer of petroleum... now wouldn't that be ironic. Israel... seems like the more the world hates (envious) of you... the more God gives you. Good on ya Israel :))
51. To tea man, @24. How?
~~Lengualima~~ ,   I   (12.31.10)
To tea man @24: "other problem Lebanon willnot let you drill until you mark the border lebanon has the lion share in that field." Would you please tell us how?
52. really?
dave ,   uda   (03.14.11)
Funny you say that. The Israelis haven't taken a drop from the Gaza find. In fact no way it would be developed if israel didn't want it to be. They have offered and made clear its the Palestinians. I love how you throw out scenarios where israel would do Levy when it has in fact occurred and they did the opposite. The Arab powers said explicitly they would kill all the Jews. Hmm would have been easy for the Israelis to kick out all in west bank since they were citizens of Jordan. They did not while your governments would kill them all. Knock it off with the spin.
53. Us too
Becks ,   Kuala Lumpur, M'sia   (04.04.11)
Send us some too. We malaysians are getting poorer by the minute. Good for Israel though. Our oil's being shipped out everywhere but here.
54. gas drilling
Dale ,   Leominster Hereford   (09.10.11)
One question worth asking, if a gas well is drilling eighty +miles offshore it must be debatable if israel has any rights to the revenue.
