There is nothing new in the Katsav saga. Elected officials are just as fallible as the unelected taxpayer. Those who are married and choose to cheat on their spouse risk paying a very, very high price. In the case of elected officials, the price has the added price tag of having your story on page 1 and on national tv. It's not unique to Israel, it's not unique to Judaism. It's still pretty pathetic that some men in power can't keep their hormones under control.

If he is really sincere in his prayers, then he has the rest of his life to make amends, and hope that when he appears before the heavenly tribunal when he dies, that they will be more lenient and understanding.
