31. JESUSALEN
JESUSALEN ,   JESUSALEN   (01.02.11)
I am the lord of avraham thy father and the lord of isaac the land whereon thou liest to thee will I give it and to thy seed and thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth and thou shalt spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed and behold I am with thee and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest and will bring thee again into this land for I will not leave thee until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of,genesis.
32. I am not ashamed...
Susan Kfar Saba   (01.02.11)
that Katsav was elecdted president. As many talkbackers here have said, we did not elect him, he was appointed by the Knesset. I am ashamed of how the trial was conducted. I don't think we will ever know the truth of what really happened. Closed trials cannot be allowed under any circumstances. Do the talkbackers from abroad realize that this trial was completely closed and they will not release the transcripts? Do they understand that there are no jury trials in this country? The judges were 2 feminist women with an agenda and an Arab man. These kinds of people would have been struck off the jury in such a trial in the US.
33. 12 - clinton lied, berlusconi pimps, but katsav is a rapist

Susan this is not USA. This is Israel, like it or not. The trial tanscripts can be read by everyone & anyone. "The Arab man" is a qualified judge. The jury in USA trials are laymen, simple everyday people, not judges.
35. We (the US) Survived Pres. Clinton
Christy ,   Boston, US   (01.03.11)
The US wasn't responsible for what Pres. Clinton did to disgrace the office of our president. At first I did feel embarrassed, but I realized it was only ONE person who should be embarrassed - our president. The US Public never voted for, or approved of, a president who couldn't 'keep his zipper up'. Don't put the blame on yourselves. The crime(s) are his and don't belong to the public. Don't beat yourselves up over this. No need for public guilt or shame. Place the shame and guilt upon the person it belongs to.
36. NOT DREADFUL AT ALL
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.03.11)
I disagree, Israel can be proud of Katsav's trial. It shows institutions of justice work there correctly. Katsav was the wrong man for the position he filled and was kicked out in time. Credits are due to the country and to its people. I read the talkbacks, opinions, articles, etc., and see absolutely nothing wrong with this process. With time, the Katsav affair will be taught in schools around the world as an example of how democracy should work.
37. US viz French legal system
Moshe ,   Netanya   (01.03.11)
In US he would be free 100% because there was no evidence. In France he has to prove that he had not raped, i.e. was at that date at home and not with this woman. According to French system he had to give her money she demended. He refused and was found guilty. So guys, pay cash after you meet a woman! And take receit before going ti the bar.

PS. The Katsav trial was a closed trial because Katsav himself & his lawyers asked for it to be a closed trial.
