No, Pollard didn't have access to CIA files holding names of US spies in the East. He DID have access to secret communication codes. When the Soviets had the codes, they were able to intercept communications and discover who the spies were, then round them up and execute them. CAUTION HERE: much of the writing trying to exonerate Pollard comes from partisans of Israel who want to make a case for Pollard's release. They are NOT unbiased and their writings are open to question because of that, and should not to be used as the basis of any opinion as to whether Pollard is innocent or guilty of passing things to the Soviets.
