split ,   US   (01.12.11)
Israel never admited to be Pollard's handler and to paying for stolen US secrets and never apologised in acceptable fashion - Let him rot ,...
4. #2 - Pollard gave information to an ally!
michael redbourn ,   arad israel   (01.12.11)
You're obviously unfamilar with the details of the case. Nobody except Pollard has ever served more than 6 years in the States for giving information to an ally. Do you see the difference in giving information to an ally or an enemy? Michael
5. #1 - it would be very wrong to tie the two things!
michael redbourn ,   arad israel   (01.12.11)
Pollard should be released because nobody in the States has ever served more than six years for a similar offence. First of all there is no "peace process" and secondly Israel should obviously not endanger itself to ensure Pollard's release. Michael
6.  Believe me, I know about losers.
Salma ,   Palestine   (01.12.11)
7. Waiting for all the 2-cent-patriots to crawl out
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (01.12.11)
of their wormholes, and utter the same washed-up empty slogans - let him rot in jail, never release the traitor, etc... These lot never bother to be confused by facts or logic, not even when coming from this esteemed former Republican Secretary of State.
8. Shultz-Up
Nour ,   One-State   (01.12.11)
9. #3 Lies
Tahl ,   Ashdod   (01.12.11)
Israel admitted being Pollard's handler and expressed regret on several occasions, most explicitly in Netanyahu's recent letter to Obama.
10. Make justice - free him now!
Roy   (01.12.11)
11. @5 Michael, I respect your response to my post.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (01.12.11)
12. He looks well fed - An example to other folks in USA
Chris ,   USA   (01.12.11)
13. TO 2: Salma
john   (01.12.11)
Salma, wouldn't you think it would be fair for a Palestinian who spied to be released after 30+ years, someone who spent most time in solitary confinement? Personally, I would agree to a palestinian being released if he spied on behalf of an ally, after serving such a long sentence.
14. US Trades Spies - Make an Offer
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston USA   (01.12.11)
The US has traded spies for decades. We even got something for the recent Russian ring. Make the US an offer if you want your guy and maybe we can see an exchange like at Check Point Charlie in old Berlin. Or offer enough tangible to make it worth our while. Pollard will be delivered on the same terms - at delivery of the agreed price. No Freebies.
15. I'm with George Tenet on this one
Ray ,   Us   (01.12.11)
I don't care if no one else severed more than 6 years I don't care if he gave info to ally He is a us citizen that betrayed his country No reason Obama should do this in the interest of Israel current gov when they don't give a damn about the Obama agenda. Bibi has done everything possible to piss Obama off
16. #4 gave information to an ally?!
Salma ,   Palestine   (01.12.11)
michael, Do you really think that "Israel" is an ally of the United States ?! I feel sorry for you .
17. ENOUGH
LAWRENCE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (01.12.11)
Even if he is regarded as a Traitor ,the poor man has suffered enough...and then some .Time for his release.
18. Offer Obama a building freeze for Jonathan Pollard
zionist forever   (01.12.11)
A 1 year freeze of all settlements other than Jerusalem and in exchange we get Jonathan Pollard. Obama can keep his F35s which he was never serious about anyway. He can keep his promises to use the US veto in the UN which he wont do anyway because he hates Israel to much. He can keep the promise that Bill Clinton made and give Pollard a presidential pardon. The US gains nothing in political terms from keeping him in jail just spite and making the humiliated intelligence agencies feel abit better. In exchange for his release Obama gets the political prize he needs if he is going to satisfy his ego and at least try create an arab state.
19. Unfair to tie sick mans release to palestinian intrasegence
Mike ,   Oxford UK   (01.12.11)
Under your recomendation this man will die in prison. The palestinians are showing no sign of ending their boycott of peace negotiations
20. Pollard is not a traitor like Henry Kissinger.
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (01.12.11)
21. Jonathan Pollard should be released!

Enough is Enough
22. Shultz SHUT UP .

23. #18 - see post #5
michael peterson ,   Tel Aviv   (01.12.11)
24. #16 - better not to post if you're out of your depth ..
michael redbourn ,   arad israel   (01.12.11)
It might perhaps be better for you to simply read arcticles and posts and learn until you get a better understanding of what's being talked about. Israel and the US fit the term "ally' in every sense of the word. Do you understand the work "ally". Do you know how many members of the US Congress and Senate support Israel? Obviously not. Nearly 300 Congress members declare commitment to 'unbreakable' U.S.-Israel bond. - last March. 87 Senators Sign Letter Urging Obama's Support of Israel - last June. Easy to find if you copy and paste either sentence into a search engine. Facts and not half digested opinions are what are important when you post! Michael
