1. it is their home ...end so go out

2. The left's contempt for voters
Schreiber   (01.17.11)
What you don't mention in your analysis, in a display of contempt for voters, is that there's going to be another election and then the people will choose between the patriotic right and a malodorous political stew aimed at preserving a Left-Lite agenda. Don't discount Lieberman, or the National Union "extremists", or the "racist" rabbis. People are listening to them, thank G-d, and will vote accordingly. The Left's days are counted. They will become a mere curiosity in the political landscape, financed mostly by Jew-hating foreigners.
3. A lot of hatred old man....lighten up buddy
Jake ,   USA   (01.17.11)
4. What stupidity
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.17.11)
It's Bibi that saved Barak. Labor went down the tube and Bibi didn't need him to form any sort of government. Notice that the government has 66 seats AFTER Labor left. And hasn't brought in anybody from the right to replace them, which they could. Totally bogus analysis that isn't even close to the mark.
5. Barak natural home is Likud.
Avi   (01.17.11)
However, this goverement is moving to life support now.
6. You can't steer the country too far to the right. The
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.17.11)
leftists would give it to the terrorists so they could be killed last.
7. Yuck. A lot of blather, ignorance, and hatred of Judaism
Angry Old Author ,   whitehair,smallbrain   (01.17.11)
the author shot himself in the foot by revealing his own hatred of the MOST core part of the Jewish people. btw, Lieberman speaks for the people. Maybe you have a problem with non PC? Yet you spout stereotypes on Judaisms core. shame on you.
8. Rightist and leftist margins do not belong to Israeli story
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (01.17.11)
Kaniuk claims, "The rightist and leftist margins do not belong to the Israeli story." Which, of course, is utter rubbish. Israel's early decades were dominated by the socialist left. And without the leftist and Arab parties, the Oslo Accords could not have been passed. What we're seeing is a rehash of the 1977 elections when the left insisted the electorate had "voted wrong" by electing Likud's Begin. Anyone who claims Labor better represents the Israeli populace than Lieberman's Israel Beitenu is a fool or a liar. "Where one stands depends on where one sits" is a sociological truism. Those sitting on the left tend to assume they are centrist or mainstream. Moderates and centrists are thus deemed "right wing", while those just to *their* right are deemed the "extreme ultra fascist right wing".
9. If it means Lieberman out, then I for one believe what Barak
Jonathan ,   London/ Israel   (01.17.11)
did as a positive step. It's a wait and see situation...
10. Barak saves Bibi?
Rachel ,   US   (01.18.11)
How? Which party is hanging on by a string?
11. PATHETIC
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.18.11)
Are those politicians looking at themselves in the mirror? Do they see how pathetic they appear to the world? No ideology, no new ideas, no concern for the country and its people. Bibi, Barak, Lieberman, Livni, one bigger mess than the next. I feel like throwing up. Will take a slice of lemon and stop reading.
12. #9 scary, and #10
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (01.18.11)
#9: Leftists like you are very scary. You are saying that you support corruption and bribery to further your political beliefs? Why not campaign legally and convince people to democratically vote for someone else? and #10: they saved each other. If Barak did not quit Labor his career would be over and Netanyahu would have had to implement the Likud platform on which he was elected. Barak and Netanyahu plan is to set-up a non-ideological kleptocratic government where they pay themselves and their friends moneys while ignoring the will of the voters. Watch how their next step will be to buy some Kadima members.
13. Ever since the state’s establishment .....
Dror ,   Tel Aviv   (01.18.11)
"Ever since the state’s establishment, when David Ben-Gurion picked “Mizrahi” rather than “Ahdut HaAvoda” to join the government, we had not seen in Israel a non-centrist government.' Where is this author living? Ten years ago we had Barak, Beilin, Ben-Ami, Lipkin-Shahak, etc, trying to give away the whole country. Were they considered centrist? This author, like many of the remaining leftists, cannot accept the fact that the average Jew on the street in Israel is somewhat right-wing and usually a bit traditional. Thus, these remaining leftists, despite all their power, represent such a small percentage of the country.
14. It's Bibi who saved Barak-u always have it
(01.18.11)
upside-down. Man-the more u write the more senile u seem to be getting
15. Now, Konuyk, you getting hysterical
Moshe ,   Netanya   (01.18.11)
16. Barak as Bardak
Ralphy ,   Israel   (01.18.11)
How could anybody in his right mind vote for that man. Personally, hell will freeze over before I vote for him again. He left his wife and his party-twice. God only knows who or what he'll ditch in the future.
