As a proud Jew and fervent Zionist, I say to the Palestinians: CONGRATULATIONS on your state. It is almost fully de iure now; soon it will be de facto, and none will be more pleased than I.

Well as an Irish citizen im glad that Ireland is the first european state to make this move. There is no doubt in my mind that other EU members will follow suit. The Palestinian people have a right to freedom and are entitled to their own state. Im sure there are many pro Israel people that will read this storey and become very angry. Ireland has a long anti-Jewish history. When it was most important, during WW2 ,though technically remaining neutral, Ireland's action (in her vital position) was of great assistance to the Nazi War Effort. Many lives were lost due to merchant shipping sunk (or dangerously deployed) due to Ireland's "neutral"position .Ireland was a harmful drag on the Allied war effort. She has not been helpful to Israel.
