31. # 16 Please explain
Philip K ,   Wexford, Ireland   (01.25.11)
You say that the British hate the Irish. What utter nonsense. I've travelled across to Britain more than 20 times and I have never detected once bit of hatred from the british directed towards the irish. Not one little bit. I have some British friends who live in Dublin and they love it here. Over 1 million british tourists visit Ireland every year and they all make plans for return trips. Yet you say the British hate our guts??? Get real!!
32. Well done Eire!
Nour ,   One State   (01.25.11)
We love and respect you. Thanks for your support.

ale ,   italia   (01.25.11)
i hope that Pope use is influence and recognized Palestine first that Irish Government. is important to show at europeans that rest of world go in peace direction. europeans don't know becouse media don't report. so europeans, if we want peace and no more terrorism, please RECOGNIZE PALESTINE. speak about it, to inform people, is possible TO RECOGNIZE Palestine.
34. Well Spoken Michael Steiner
World Citizen ,   the world   (01.25.11)
Everything you said is true. Israel has been the stumbling block all of these years and the rest of the world is waking up to this fact. To make matters worse, the U.S. government is scared to death that they are increasingly looking like an impediment to peace and a pariah state just like Israel. They are desparate to keep any resolutions about the Israeli/Palestinian issue off the floor of the U.N. And to top that off the government of Egypt is about to implode. Think the next Egyptian government to emerge will make a deal with the US and Israel? Not if the Muslim Brotherhood has anything to do with it. Israel is running out of time to do the right thing. Your government is playing a dangerous end game.
35. As an Irish person.
chris ,   Ireland   (01.25.11)
A couple of years ago I went to hear the Israeli ambassador speak in a leading university in Ireland, while I found some of his views unpalatable, I have learned over the years that negotiations, discussions and agreements are the only real way to solve conflicts you have in Israel and like we had in northern Ireland. However, when it came time for the Palestinian diplomat to come and speak he was stopped, because he was not an ambassador. I found this to be unfair. But maybe now we will be allowed to hear both sides of the debate. Please ignore No. #4 Philip K who claims to be a Irish citizen, you don't do Irish people or our country any favours. And talk of "bomb makers in Ireland" is just ignorance. We went trough hard times to get to peace and I wish that peace for the Israeli people too. It is true that the use of Irish passports by Mossad for assassinations does anger Irish people. Many Irish people also feel that Israel does discriminate against Palestinian people, and giving our history of being repressed that is maybe understandable. I would suggest that you all struggle hard for peace, it will be worth it in the end. p.s. Mr RayS, from the USA - To say that "Ireland was a harmful drag on the Allied war effort." is ignorant of Ireland's contribution to the allies, Ireland and the Irish people was helping the Spanish and British fight against fascism long before the Americans decided to join the war effort.
36. what's this? one failed country to another?

Israeli 2   (01.25.11)
38. did we esteblished israel by negotiations?
(01.25.11)
no, we did it by convincing the entire world of our cause and that conviction made that world approve the creation of israel in the UN. they're doing just that.
39. #35 Chris
Michael ,   Haifa   (01.25.11)
Sadly, I have to agree with most of what you wrote here

Kate ,   London, UK   (01.25.11)
This is a fine example of one bankrupt nation recognising another. I rejoice in your financial troubles; it couldn't have happened to a more appropriate country.
41. god bless israel
john ,   castlebar, ireland   (01.25.11)
to the irish people on here who think every irish person hates israel i say think again.im irish and i love israel.the only irish who dont like israel are only those who dont know god,and thats many.i just wonder wen they come out to condemn israel does it ever dawn in there little peanut brain imagination that the land of israel is jewish.im a christian in ireland that actually studies the word of god also known as the bible.and i can tell u that anyone who calls himself a christian and is yet against israel that person is living on another planet.u cant be a christian and be against israel.so to the irish who are against israel i say we dont care wat u think or say,the time is coming wen god will judge the nations for dealing treachourously with israel.did it ever dawn on u why all the world is falling apart around israel?god said concerning israel and the jews that he would bless those who bless israel and curse those who curse it.is ireland christian country?no its pro palestian in the government at least and against israel and leaves little wonder to me why ireland is economically a disaster.so to those who want a state of palestine in israels borders then i advise u to read the book of joel chapter 2 where god says he will judge the nations on behalf of israel because they parted his land, thats exactly what the nations of the world are up 2 today including our god forsaking country of ireland. israel is jewish forever.god bless israel.
42. Chris from Ireland's claims of empathy - #35
Kate ,   London, UK   (01.25.11)
That didn't stop Ireland deliberately turning her back as millions of Jews were being murdered. It seems that your compassion is extended only when it can be seen to harm the interests of Jews. I consider this a declaration of war against the Jewish people.
43. to ale , italia if only it were that simple
Barney ,   USA   (01.25.11)
what about muslim on muslim terrorism. They blow each other up everyday. there will never be an end to terrorism unless there is no Israel, no Jews, no Christians, no HIndus, no Buddhists, and no shite versus sunni. Radical islam is the reason for terrorism.
44. I just occurred to me. How about all these countries
leo ,   usa   (01.25.11)

45. ridiculous peace process
john ,   castlebar,ireland   (01.25.11)
the world likes to blame israel for the failed peace talks accusing israeli settlements as been an obstacle to peace.israel is not the problem.the problem is that its only israel that knows the problem.and the problem with the middle east is the crack pot ideolagy of radical islam.to those who have not a clue what the koran and hadiths of islam say about jews and christians i advise u to do some research then u will have a good idea why there is no peace in the middle east.if anyone looks to press tv and aljazeera for truths then they are naive do some research on islam and u will see that the islamic palestinians hate the jews not because of so called occupation(another myth)but because of there crack pot ideology of islam.do some research and see for yourself. israel is jewish forever god bless israel
46. "Diplomacy is getting more 'clownesque by the day
tiki ,   belgium   (01.25.11)
Ireland, a divided and bancrupt country in crisis, without a leader, where it's citizens are leaving by the thousands because their governement can't provide work or a future for them is 'upgrading the status of a 'State without a land, without an elected leader, with people who have Jordanian pasports, (which makes them Jordanians). So, what is it exactly the Irish are "upgrading? What is it the S-Americans are 'recognizing? What is it with these ridiculous governements, who out of sheer impotence make one idiotic descision after the other. Why don't they start 'upgrading the Kurds if they feel the need to 'upgrade a people.......or upgrading the future of their children, might also not be a bad idea. Ireland had a few years of 'miracle, but now they are back where they belong, where they have always been....in misery. That's the prize for being stupid...like their best friends, the "Palestinians".
47. To Kate London.
Cathy ,   Ireland   (01.25.11)
What bull#### are you talking about? The Irish fought voluntarily with the Allies, at least 45,000 of them. It seems you are the one with personal issues- against the Irish.
48. dear Kate #35
Chris ,   Ireland   (01.25.11)
Maybe you misunderstood my comment, or the actions of the Irish government. I don't see how you could consider this as "a declaration of war against the Jewish people." I was talking about Israel not Jews in general and anyway Israel has a embassy in Dublin. Personally I think that the Palestinians should also have an embassy and maybe in the future they will. For now, the upgrading of the Palestinian delegation to a mission, instead of an embassy, is to help created the two state solution - that's what all sides say that they want. Ireland declared a republic/gained independence from the British in 1947, and has/was not "deliberately turning her back as millions of Jews were being murdered" - I am offended by these comments, if you can say that about Ireland, you could say that about most every country in the world. What happened to the millions people during world war II, including the 6 million Jews, was unhuman and every right minded person would condem. I am sorry if anything I have said offends anyone and I was not an attempt hurt Jewish people or "a declaration of war against the Jewish people." BUT I just don't see what this has to do with the Palestinians. Israeli's should either give Palestinians the right to vote in Israel or allow them an independent state. Which is what giving them a mission in Ireland is about.
49. An Apology
Chris ,   Ireland   (01.25.11)
Sorry Kate, I was a little upset by your comments, I mean no offence. My argument is this - hate and violence destroy the soul, of a person and of a country. While love and peace, which can be hard, especially during conflict, make for a much better life, for you and those around you. I hope and know that peace will come with time. PS I am VERY sorry if I have offended anyone, (things/acts can be said/done in anger), I apologize profusely. Times might be bad in Ireland now, but they are still much better than before we had a peace agreement. I only wish that for the Israeli's and Palestinians. Sincerely, Chris
50. Dear Mr. Philip
dana   (01.25.11)
ok ok,so you don't like Israel.seems like you are the one who's angry.we got the message.unlike you I will not try to insult you since it's not my style.I just want to say I feel sorry for this world which is full of hate. I think evolution had to be stopped a minute before man was created. unfortunately you are no different than anybody else who hates others without even know them or there situation. btw: I've met some very nice irish people in the past who visited Israel and they did'nt talk like you. anyway Ireland is indeed a very beautiful country, but it doesn't make you better than anybody else.remember, you were'nt the one who created this beauty so please try to write in a less arrogant way. "people are peple" (like my beloved DM said) wherever they are
51. To: No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.25.11)
Everybody loves the Irish? Sure. I just love seeing drunks vomiting left, right and center on St. Patrick's Day in New York City. Yes, we love the Irish. Not. Nor, by the way, have we forgotten that when Israel cleaned out those terrorist training camps in Lebanon in the early eighties, half of the recruits there were Provos. How 'ya doing in those six counties, by the way? Do you want to know what the rest of the world already knows? I will tell you. The six northern counties will become part of the Republic of Ireland LONG before there is ever a "Palestine." And here's the best part: the six northern counties will NEVER become part of the Republic of Ireland. So go back to your Jameson's. Like most Irish, you make far more sense blind drunk than you do sober. And you don't make too much sense blind drunk, so what does that say about you?
52. irish tradition:getting drunk from tuesday to sunday...

53. #4 Who loves Israel? I DO
Phil ,   Ireland   (01.25.11)
You claim nobody in Ireland loves Israel. Well as an Irish citizen I have the right to call you ignorant. There are many, many people in Ireland who love Israel and see the conflict with the Palestinans for what it is - an attempt to drive nearly six million Jews into the sea. You believe in a free Palestine yet you do not mention the tyranny of Hamas or the corruption of the Palestinian Authority. You think the Palestinans are entitled to their own state, yet do not offer any reasoning for this. You are obviously so out of touch, not just with the Middle east, but also with our own country which is in such a financial turmoil that nobody knows where we are going next. Israel has shown it can adapt to world events a lot better than Ireland. So keep your ignorance to yourself.
54. To: No. 49
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.25.11)
A meaningless apology, Chris. What you clearly fail to understand is that the ersatz "Palestinians" have had no fewer than three opportuities for a two-state solution. They have rejected all three, including -- most recently -- one which would have awarded them 90% of the West Bank and East Jerusalem as a capital. They rejected that in favor of starting the second intifada. That didn't work out all that well for them, but how is that Israel's fault? Moreover, Israel has been dragged into six wars -- yes, dear, all of them started by the Arabs and won by Israel. SIX WARS. Just how many bites at the apple do you think the ersatz "Palestinians" deserve? Then there is the little matter of seven decades of unrelenting terror, visited by the ersatz "Palestinians" against Israeli Jews and Jews in the Diaspora. They are terrorists, Chris. Not freedom fighters. Terrorists. How do you account for the fact that all of the thirty-odd organizations (each of which purport to be the sole "true representative" of the ersatz "Palestinian" people) have consistently refused to repudiate their vile charters, each of which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people? How do you account for the fact that the ersatz "Palestinians" have consistently refused to acknowledge the right of the State of Israel to exist in its ancient homeland? How do you account for the fact that the ersatz "Palestinians" refuse to recognize the unassailable identity of the State of Israel as a Jewish state? The simple fact of the matter is that the ersatz "Palestinians" are not interested in co-existing peacefully with the State of Israel. They are interested exclusively in supplanting Israel. And that is simply not going to happen. There is also the little matter of international convention and statute. Can you name one country besides Israel that has had to fight six wars (all of them defensive) in sixty-two years? Can you name one country besides Israel that has had to combat seven decades of Arab terror and yet is seen as the victimizer rather than the victim? Whether the world accepts it or not, the ersatz "Palestinians" are a vanquished people. They are no different than the Germans were following World War II. They deserve no quarter. Six wars and seven decades of terror have to count for something.

56. To all IRISH or anyone please read
Ros ,   Israel   (01.25.11)
Please read - 1.there wasnt anytime ever a palestinian state 2.Jordan is on 75% of palestine, so why israel must give up its lands? especially after the No.1 argument? 3.Arabs living in israel DO NOT WANT to live in palestine (read the latest YNET headlines http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4019107,00.html ) 4.No sir we wont go to 1967 borthers, state one reason to why would we, because iran wants us dead? 5.no sir, there is no need for israel to give up itself, palestinains have 22 other arab countries not to mention 75% of palestine beloning to JORDAN, if any peace agreement would be fair that jordan gives half the lands as well, but no one ever talks about it because the ONLY Palestinian agenda is destruction of Israel by the ARAB world...no one (in the Arab world) really cares about the Palestinian problem
57. Philip K Wexford Ireland.
JUDAH THE LION   (01.25.11)
There is no such country in the world called Palestine.Read your BIBLE,and history about the Jewish nation.Do not go against the ALMIGHTY wishes. Jews made Israel one of the most beautiful country, out of a dessert.Oh yes Ireland is much wealthier than Israel, thats the reason Ireland economy in the toilet. I do love Israel as well as many millions Jews & non Jews.

59. Bye Bye Ireland!
sanna ,   sweden   (01.26.11)
Every time a country do something against Israel, it will turn back on them...we had a disaster in Brasilia just some day after they recognized Palestine as a state, and Ireland with it`s already bad economy... Every time USA speaks or do something against Israel there is floods, trombs and other disasters...The world is ruled by a bunch of idiots - Bless Israel, and You will be Blessed, it´s a rule, like it or not - but True!
60. To: Sarah and Chris #58
Lobo ,   USA   (01.26.11)
The 6 Counties of Northern Ireland are indeed part of the UK, and give no indication that they want to join the Republic of Ireland. "Palestine" will exist when those 6 counties decide that they've had enough of British prosperity and security, and decide to join the economic mess that is Ireland.
