31. The Mubarak era is over don't listen to Smadar Peri
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (01.28.11)
Israel will be surrounded by hostile enemies within a few years. There is no way Mubarak will survive these unrest and even if he does how many years he has left in life and or power. The bottom line the Mubarak era is over and Israel's worst nightmare is going to start unless there is a comprehensive peace agreement with all the Arabs. It will force Israel to give up the Golan and have a comprehensive peace with all unless it will bleed financially trying to maintain its military edge against as many as 4 fronts.
32. Egypt has 5 million living in dire poverty
JO   (01.28.11)
ever been to the south? Well it is not the tourist trail but the poverty, millions living in clay like buildings, no water, medicine, education,a struggle to survive. You dont see such poverty in Jordan which even being a poor country is managed better and has a future planning strategy. Jordan is the only stable country out of the Arab states, and their king is well loved and does not live like a jet set millionaire. Egypt was always going to be trouble, population stats alone should ring bells.
33. # 32 Egypt has 5 million
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.28.11)
JO ! 5 million Egyptians live in powerty, out of 80,000,000,not bad, which means 75 millon egyptians are ok,prosperity is closely tied to Religion, the more God, the less food on the table, unfortunately, this is the case also in Israel.
34. I GUESS THIS AUTHOR DIDNT READ THE PLANNED PROTEST
.......DACON9   (01.28.11)
I GUESS THIS AUTHOR DIDNT READ THE PLANNED PROTEST ON FRIDAY AFTER ARAB PRAYERS WHICH WAS POSTED ON TUESDAY ALSO. So much for this author Smadar Peri's opinions on things. And i was planning to visit egypt cairo today friday, good thing I read the other news links and not depended on her. SO THE CRUISE UP THE NILE WILL WAIT UNTIL MASHIACH..... The middle east is the foothold of the prophets warnings to Israel if.....and the 'IF' is here and now....
35. # 24 Middle East Caliphate
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (01.28.11)
Prophet John ! The Caliphs in the past, were more rational than the crazies who run the Muslim countries today.
36. Should I laugh or cry?
Νikos ,   Montreal, Canada   (01.28.11)
This article looks like a farce! You're so outside to reality and out of touch with the people that you actually believe the BS that you write. The people has woken up and are ready to topple their philoUSA and philoIsraeli totalitarian regims
37. #36 nikos you should.......
rob ,   Orangevale USA   (01.28.11)
you should cry as your stupidity is profound. eh?
38. J.K. From Brooklyn on a roll today!!!
rob ,   Orangevale USA   (01.28.11)
39. "pals in Jordan are treated worse than those in Isreal...
rob ,   Orangevale USA   (01.28.11)
Thats because Jordanians despise these fake Palestinians as the outcasts the always make of themselves. The Jordanians want prosperity and have the guts to "deal" with said outcasts. Israels decency allows them to "live and let live" Shalom
40. Palestinians under Israel live better
Fouad ,   Canada   (01.29.11)
I met a Palestinian girl from Bethlehem who told me that under the Israeli occupation they lived like kings, and now under the Palestinian Authority life has become increasingly difficult. I wonder if her opinion is shared by others from similar regions!
41. Actually, you SHOULD probably cancel that trip now...
Jacob Bloomfield ,   Brooklyn, USA   (01.29.11)
Ms. Peri should maybe take a break from making predictions for a while. I hope nobody went through with their trip to Egypt based on her ill-informed advice. Better luck next time, lady...
42. re: #8 on Ms. Peri
joel ,   usa   (01.30.11)
it seems that ms Peri knows a lot about how egypt's Mubarak do his way(s) so that #8 cannot accept it who is ignorant of those way(s), just give a benefit of a doubt to Ms Peri who knows mR Mubarak more than #8, at any rate Mr Mubarak have survived assasinations & powerplays for 30 years and the military is very loyal to him, but of course there could be bloodshed which is not a surprise for most arab muslims since their Quran allows "murders" even for infidels, right? Mr Mubarak can survive against Al Qaeda & Muslim brotherhood & Iran!
43. re: #1 on Egypt & Israel
joel ,   usa   (02.01.11)
the very reason why those african refugees who passed by egypt want to enter Israel instead of Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Gaza or elsewhere; there is freedom & opportunities to live a decent life in Israel than those countries, just ask those refugees in Israel? that;s the best way to evaluate!
44. re: # 6
joel ,   usa   (02.01.11)
if a certain regime is in control of the army, then the likelihood of an overthrow is very very remote, unless the dictator will raise his hands up and Go! mr mubarak could use the army to stay as long as he want, since those guys started & retired with mubarak's regime, they know no one escept him!
45. HA!!
Mystic Meg ,   Tel Aviv   (02.12.11)
Ha! It's not just the benefit of hindsight that makes this article so pathetic, its the patronizing tone of a stupid and lazy journalist. Beware of 'commentators' with 0 in-depth knowledge of a different people and their culture extrapolating their own ready-made bullshit to situations they know nothing about. Next stop, Iran.
