Secondly, the Sinai played a major role in Israel winning the Yom Kippur War. It gave Israel crucial time to prepare a defense from the surprise attack. Israeli preparedness plus possession of the Sinai would make another war with Egypt all but unthinkable. We are in danger of another war because we lunatically cede Sinai. Wait and see what happens. It's obvious that outside influences are stirring things up in Egypt. Only problem for the protesters, nothing will change. The army runs the country. Egypt has a ruling elite who will never give up power to some outsider no matter how many protest. Wait a few days when the population figures out they're starving and they need to get back to life. Things should go back to simmer. The Egyptian government has not lost anything, the people are only hurting themselves and certainly will experience some more self inflicted wounds. I disagree. I think that Israel should make provisions if a radical government is pushing Mubarrok out but if it is truly the people who do not want to live under a dictatorship any longer then let it be. Revolution shall prevail. And many other people will follow suit. Maybe not for the same reasons but this needs to be presented is a dialogue and a narrative of 'freedom' not of lies or fear. I am not saying that our government or yours should be irresponsible, but you do have people who can get the feel and the sense of the Egyptian people's intentions and of things that are surfacing that may look like the protests are moving in another directions. The people want change and they want to be able to have a say in this process of government....Why stop them? For political gain? What if this situation was reversed and it was you and your people who were being oppressed by your own government?What support would you have if many oppressors of free speech and freedom were calling your efforts a play to get a 'radical rabbi' leader into power?How would you feel and how would you react? How is this any different for the Egyptians? What ever happened to having a democracy for others? Why only for some?Please don't become a country who stands in the way of freedom for political reasons or expediency.

I think a lot of people take the Arab cause because Israel is seen by many to be aggressive and somewhat extremist as well. Israel is also seen by many to be the top dog in the region and many people see it as the aggressor and the people it attacks as victims (even if those attacks are purported retaliation they are un-targetted and often against civilians who were not involved in the aggression which caused the response) I think if Israel wants greater support from the world community it needs to be seen to be compassionate and its responses need to be less based on ethnicity (Palestinians shot at us so we'll shoot missiles randomly into their civilian community) and more based on seeking justice against those that commit acts of aggression against Israel. Until then people will see the actions of your government in a very poor light.
