3. When Jews think that Muslims have the answer
Brian Cohen Judean ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.06.11)
For now, they're a minority cult. However, they breed and infect their offspring with ridiculous concepts like making themselves look like Afghan shiksas. Who is the "rabbi", or who are the "rabbis" who are advising them? Where will it stop? Will they also adopt the goyishe practice of blowing themselves up to achieve martyrdom?
4. Shame!!!
אלון רוזן   (02.06.11)
Can't be allowd by law in Israel. PERIOD!
5. These women have NO heter
Aidel ,   Australia   (02.06.11)
As a chabad woman with daughters, daughters in law and a grand-daughter, I find this dreadful. We are warned in Parsha Bereishis about adding to Torah( Odom told Chave not only could she not Eat from the tree, but touch it either) There is NO WHERE in any sefer that states that unmarried girls should cover their hair let alone her entire form. These newly religoius women are not practising judaism but some kind of mishegasim. All Israelis know that religious women cover their elbows, knees and collarbone (and hair once they are married) and I think that this is accepted, but these taliban women are beyond this. I have seen them in Ramat Beit Shemesh and they walk around with such a 'holy' attitude. There is no kedusha in their behavior.. They have not learnt the halochos of Tznius at all and actually make a mockery of real religious women who dress modestly.
6. Endangered children MUST be accepted
ORA ,   Jerusalem   (02.06.11)
in normal religious schools, which need to keep a watching caring eye on them! ABOLISH the special schools,NOW! Who knows who hides under this folly.React before this crazyness takes root..
7. Woow !!!!
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.06.11)
Covered even at home ! really ?! but WHHHHHHHHY????? I don't believe it. I felt that they are mentally retarded people, Don't they?!
8. Newly-religious women

9. Can these women be arrested for not
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (02.06.11)

10. #3 why do you think that is from islam ?
zooz ,   gaza   (02.06.11)
becasue its not , taliban womens dresses like that not because of islam since islam does not order a women to cover from head to toe , their is a difference between hijab and taliban dressing which is a traditional dressing not religious my wife wears hijab with jeans its normal
11. There is or was a group of these up here in
Al   (02.06.11)
St Agathe Quebec, a resort town north west of Montreal several years ago. I believe they are still there...Strange group with poor dental hygiene. Very strange indeed. I was never able to figure them out. In any case who really cares.
12. Israel is not Stalins Russia nor should it be
Al   (02.06.11)
Live and let live. The best way to encourage these people to tone it down is simply to ignore them. They pine for the spotlight. Reading some of the TBs makes me cringe. You cant regulate peoples behaviour as to their dress nor should you. As I posted in a previous TB, who really cares what shmattes they cover themselves in...who really cares?
13. A natural development
Jewish farmer   (02.06.11)
What do you expect from the Haredi cult? They have brought us separate seating on buses, no touching between men and women, no being in the same room at weddings and other insanity. Now the rabbis condemn this. Why? It seems like a logical course of events
14. Antique custom
Raphael ,   Netanya   (02.06.11)
Full cover of woman's body was inherited from the babylonian religion. Around the ziggurat, every woman had to prostitute herself once a year and give the money to the priest, so Baal was a pimp. And the occasional whores wore a long veil, so as not to be recognized by their neighbours or relatives.
15. i will tell you what this really is
(02.06.11)
they are getting ready for the take over of the arab world and so instead of converting to muslim they are dressing like this in advance of what is going to happen in Israel ...
16. correction
observer   (02.06.11)
The original support by rabbanim of the Badatz was for a specific style of head-covering that was in use amongst the traditional Jerusalem community until the 70's (the elderly women who still wore it died out after that time, and younger women didn't take it up). A very respected Rav tried to reinstate it shortly before his death, and it has had limited success. The 'taliban' style adopted by these primarily Sefardi women has no connection with that first style, nor do they have any connection with the Jerusalem community - save for the fact that some have gone to live there. Their argument about going back to ancestral roots is fallacious in that the style they have chosen cannot be found in the records of any Sefardi Jewish community. In fact it was regarded as a very un-Jewish mode of dress.
17. #13 - Eyup
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (02.06.11)
Haven't seen it this extreme, but I have seen religious girls dressed all in black for years now. "Natural" progression. As long as they don't force it on the rest of us it's no skin off my teeth.
18. Spectrum
Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (02.06.11)
To the haredim, secular Jews' dress is 'immodest'. To the 'newly' religious, the "mainstream" haredim appear 'immodest'. To the secular Jews, they both seem 'excessive'. The security concerns are valid. The name calling "Taliban" is not. Rabbis should sit and talk with these people, as should representatives of the security establishment.
19. what's you are saying is palestine are retated people
(02.06.11)
20. NOT AS JEWISH FOREMOTHERS
ARAB DRESS CODE ,   IL   (02.06.11)
When Abrham Avinu saw the Angels- he saw three Arabs- dressed as Arabs" so they- the Arabs had their way of dressing- If these girlsthink that their foremothers dressed like that then they are Arab Afganisthanies
21. latest development from the harideem cult
Avi ,   Israel   (02.06.11)
What were we expecting, after seperate seating on buses, making women walk on the other side of the road, was just a matter of time before they started dressing like this
22. streimels in mitzrayim
ira ,   barcelona   (02.06.11)
> "According to tradition, the Israelites survived the slavery in Egypt because they "did not alter the way they dress" therefore the dress code cannot be changed even today. We can accept young girls who returned to their faith as long as they accept the rules and speak Yiddish " as we all know, the israelites traipsed around in the fierce summer heat of mitzrayim in streimels and kapotas, speaking to each other in yiddish, so that the egyptians wouldn't understand
23. Vienes de una escuela de retardados
al 22 ,   IL   (02.06.11)
It's not an issue of Ashkenasim or Sefaradim- Learn a little before you open your trap- en boca carrada no entran moscas guarra
24. OMG THIS IS A NEW SECT. HAREDIM ARE SO WEIRD
(02.06.11)
25. #22, THEY DIDNT SPEAK YIDDISH IN MITZRAYIM.
......DACON9   (02.06.11)
MASHIACH WILL NOT SPEAK YIDDISH EITHER. IT WILL BE HEBREW
26. Take away the daughters from their
jason white ,   afula,israel   (02.06.11)
mentally ill parents. Let normal national religious people raise them as foster parents. Make the women go out in public in regular clothes or not leave their homes.
27. THINK BEFORE YOU CRITICIZE
Ricardo Macher ,   Karne Shomron - IL   (02.06.11)
When I fisrt read it, I was in shock. But thinking twice, according to our religion it makes sense to protect women against desire and rape. Whtat matters is life in private, not in public. Life in public tends to disappear, anyway, with internet. I dont think the veil is a bad idea. Frankly.
28. Bizarre interview
Shalom Hartman   (02.06.11)
How weird that the reporter chose to interview only those from anti-Zionist clans such as toldos Aharon. Regular "frum" Jews are up in arms over the stupidity of these women the majority of whom still know very little about Jewish life and law. To say baalei tshuvah need to speak Yiddish is ignorant; to say that this is traditional Jewish dress is a joke. Btw to show how "off" these women are - I was once at a wedding where I saw a "pile of sacks" in a corner - smoking - something that you would never see a regular hareidi lady doing
29. This is a problem for the orthodox community
Sidney ,   USA   (02.06.11)
Many of the Haredi are so extreme that they have actually departed from Judaism. If orthodoxy is to have any survivability, it must deal with today's world. The children of extremely religious people do not follow their parents' lead. In the U.S., one of the less publicized facts is that the children of Protestant fundamentalists are abandoning their religion in alarming numbers. For the rest of us, these people are amusing and embarrassing.
30. i guess they are fee to do as they
Barney ,   USA   (02.06.11)
please but this is not normal. maybe overcompensation in one area to make up for shortcomings in other areas. why would anyone want to dress like this? this dress is representative of extremely repressive, intolerant, backward, regimes.
