1. A sign Hamas has no intention to keep cease fire
William ,   Israel   (01.31.11)
Only Hamas possesses grad rockets. With the tensions in Egypt, Hamas believes they have an upper-hand by committing yet another war crime with no response from Israel - who is showing restraint to avoid escalation. Hamas also believes, as Iran hopes, that the Muslim Brotherhood will come to power in Egypt and become yet another terror nation. Don't pull a "Mubarak" (fly some jets over the area but do nothing), Israel, but rather choose 10 nice targets and send a few "grads" of our own. Grad rockets are well beyond the "red line".
2. Dangerous game
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.31.11)
.... that Hamas is playing. Israel has always made it crystal clear that Hamas will be held accountable for all rocket and mortar attacks upon Israel, whether Hamas is responsible or not. With all hell breaking loose in Egypt, Israel is not going to wait too long to respond with deliberate force. No time like the present.
3. Goldstone might find himself having to write a second report
zionist forever   (01.31.11)
The terrorists are taking advantage of the trouble in Egypt now the man they see as a US / Israel stooge Mubarak is on his way out and the Muslim Brotherhood may replace him. If they start firing hundreds of rockets then the government is going to have to seriously consider Cast Lead 2. If somebody is killed especially a child or if a Kindergarten is hit and children are injured then the public will be demanding that Bibi send in the troops now and not even Obama will be able to prevent it.
4. Qassams Have Been Falling Regularly...
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.31.11)
...Just because you don't cover it doesn't make this the "first" - it may be the first Grads, but not the first rockets. It's on TV here at least every other day.
5. still think the muslim brthood has nothing to do with this?
(01.31.11)
well looks like we are going to get sucked into another situation here and gollygee, who can say they di not see it coming? i wonder who could be doing this shit now, lets see have anytihng to dowith these people who wanna take down egypt's g-nment?
6. palestinian leaders are a joke
john ,   ireland   (02.01.11)
where is the world when these guys fire rockets into israel?they seem to only come out when israel justly retaliates.here in my country ireland the government comes out in condemnation only of israel when it justly defends itself.politicians here only seem to see and hear what they want.they ruined our country and they point at israel in condemnation hahaha israel is a blessed nation the best in the world and our leaders come out with silly judgments.the western leaders need to come out every time exposing the radical ideology of these people in gaza.the only hope for the world is to wake up and support israel and expose these islamics agenda. god bless israel and the jews forever
7. So now they on to Grads? They need a Grad response
(02.01.11)
8. IAF already sends "Grads" and lots of them!!!
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (02.01.11)
9. this gangster government will not defend it's citizens
chaim.s ,   brooklyn ny   (02.01.11)
citizens of Israel don't you realize by now, that this criminaly insane traitorous gangster government will not defend you and your families against the enemy rockets, you must learn from the Egyptian people, what to do with a traitorous regime,REVOLT,march up to Jerusalem by the hundreds of thousands, storm the Knesset and drag these enemy colaborating traitors out,and put them on trial for treason, and hang each and everyone of them from the nearest lampost
10. To: Zionist Forever at No. 3
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.01.11)
Oy, sh'lo nida m'tzaarot .....
11. Please!
Todd ,   Washington DC   (02.01.11)
I know this will probably not get posted but how convenient. And nothing in the articles particularly says this is Hamas but the comments are all condemning Hamas. And talking about retaliation like Israel has ever needed a reason to decrease the Palestinian population
12. Shoot back
James Russell ,   Cambridge, MA, USA   (02.01.11)
When Gaza fires rockets at Israel, for God's sake shoot back.
13. Grads
marty ,   toronto canada   (02.01.11)
I can only assume that Hamas are extremely upset that they are totally out of the limelight since their bretheren in Egypt have captured the world's attention. Firing a couple of rockets get's them back in the news.
14. re: rockets from Gaza & Hamas
joel ,   usa   (02.01.11)
THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO DEAL WITH TERRORISTS AND MURDERERS: AN EYE FOR AN EYE, TOOTH FOR A TOOTH! DO IT HARD AND DEEP NEXT TIME FOR THE PAYBACK!
15. re: protest in egypt and the protesters
joel ,   usa   (02.01.11)
this protest could go on for month(s) and Mubarak would still be there but these protesters would grew hungry and egypt's population would starve to death, Mubarak won't mind since the army is only protecting government establishment and the protesters are nonviolent! let them do it for a year, and see who got hungry and starve to death! they don't need democracy, they want a new dictator to rule them!
16. troubling
tom ,   toronto, canada   (02.01.11)
"colour red" warning system did not sound. why? "there aren't enough shelters and secure rooms". why? hamas has demonstrated that it can enforce a 6-month ceasefire, or escalate the rocket attacks at will. where is the idf's response to this escalation?
17. IDF chicken
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (02.01.11)
Unfortunately, the IDF if frightened to clean up the mess that the Israeli government created in Gaza. I suppose they are waiting for an incident of massive proportion and then bomb a smuggling tunnel that they have known about for some time. Hamas is the legal government that was elected by the people. They should have WAR declared upon them and be totally destroyed and the people DRIVEN out from that area, which should be given back to the refugees of the Gush Katif fiasco.
18. Pay back
Friend from Portugal ,   Lisbon   (02.01.11)
I would like to ask why Israel never pay back?! When they send a new Grad Israel should send also for Gaza city center a tank shell maybe they will understand in the logic way! " who have glass roof never send stones to is neigbours
19. We didn't react before, we will not react in any
tom ,   tel aviv   (02.01.11)
meaningful way now. The slippery slope of self-delusional politics is relentlesly leading towards cataclysm. It's the proverbial rifle hanging on the wall in Act one: everybody knows, that in Act three it shall be fired. We are in the midst of Act two.....
20. GRAD
AK ,   USA   (02.01.11)
YUP. HAVE TO GO BACK IN. THIS TIME FOR REAL!
21. grads
colin   (02.01.11)
Hamas fires grads on Israel and the anti Israel EU shut up. Who cares for israel by the anti semetic arab UN ??And the islamic american president will blame Israel for building settlements provoking Hamas. To-gether with the bad, our cowardly groveling backstabbing minister of defence is more worried about his corrupt political seat in the knesset TO HELL WITH THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL IS THE POLICY OF BARAK.Let the grads fall barak will do nothing.
22. this has potential to spark a regional war
zionist forever   (02.01.11)
Hamas are trying to inflame the situation by firing rockets because they want Cast Lead 2. They see there are 800 Egyptian soldiers in Sinai, nobody knows who is in charge anymore in Egypt. All it will take is for somebody to be killed or a kindergarten hit and children hurt and the public will be demanding Cast Lead 2. If the pubic are demanding a military operation Bibi will have no choice but to their demands. Mubarak will be in no position to try and calm things down which he has been able to do before and Egyptians are rioting. When Egyptians see the site of Israeli tanks in Gaza they will be out there demanding Mubarak take action and the different factions fighting for power in Egypt will be competing for who can deal with Israel. The Egyptian army has also dropped its loyalty to Mubarak. Out of sympathy for palestinians some of those soldiers in Sinai might turn their guns on Israel if the army are now loyal unto themselves rather than the president and if that happens we risk a full scale war. Right now it should be American troops patrolling the Sinai border that way if there are problems with palestinians there are no Egyptian soldiers to start shooting at the IDF and risking a potential war with Egypt. Bibi should not have allowed Egyptian troops into Sinai. He should have asked the Americans to patrol Sinai to prevent the smuggling to patrol Sinai just until Egypt gets its act together politically The Egyptian army is unpredictable at this time and not to be trusted.
23. Todd, you're an example of why we worry about Washington
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.01.11)
Gosh, Todd, nothing in the article says it was Hamas? Why is that odd to you? Who controls Gaza? Hamas. Who is in charge of all security and military in Gaza? Hamas. Who claims they are the legitimately democratically elected government in Gaza? Hamas. If some whacko group in Michigan started lobbing anti-personnel rockets at Ontario, do you think the government in Washington would do something about it? Crikey! You can be sure that i KNOW that Washington would send in the state police, the FBI, and the ATF and shut those criminals down pronto. They'd be arrested, tried, convicted, and locked away with little chance of anybody starting up such criminal activities again - AND there'd be an official apology issued to Canada with pledges to maintain the peace. But you seem to think that Hamas doesn't have to enforce law and order and has the right to break international law by allowing militant groups under its jurisdiction to shoot at Israeli civilians. Tell us Todd, why do you think it's ok for Hamas to rule Gaza but not take responsibility there and obey international law?
24. Bunker busting bombs into EVERY tunnel right now.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.01.11)
25. #3. Write a report....and eat his words.
Tim ,   Brighton   (02.01.11)
Does that liar sleep well at nights?
26. Hamas trying the piggyback move
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (02.01.11)
Hoping to get Israel into the mix by forcing Israel's hand. It hasn't worked before and shouldn't work now. Hamas (the thinking is) hoping they murder dozens at a time with lucky hit. Then Israel would have to take action, during this tense situation around the region it would heighten the tension everywhere. May be even work in Hamas's favor, should Israel have to attack. It demonstrates the cynicism of Hamas. So now we have piggyback riders Hamas into the act. The Arabs need Israel to raise the hate factor, and so far Israel has kept quiet, and just observed the on-goings. Now it seems Hamas has received its orders to do anything they can to instigate a fight with Israel.
27. World Silent
JUDAH THE LION   (02.01.11)
Where is Human right,EU,UN,Red Cross,BANG KI MOON,ISRAELI LEFTIST,WORLD LEFTIST,rewAND OTHERS. Every one is keeping quiet, what is the reason, because the Arabs have the right to send grad rockets, but ISRAEL AND THE JEWS have no right to defend themselves. Screw the world,Israel should use her military fully, and do not give a s===t about the world, then the world will respect Israel. GO IDF and clean the place for good
28. Thank you
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.01.11)
We have to give credit where credit is due. We have to thank the people who gave Hamas the Grad rockets to shoot Jewish children: Sharon, Olmert, Livni and Barak. We should also thank the people who helped Goldstone make it a war crime for the IDF to defend Jewish children: Shalom Achshav and the New Israel Fund.
29. Israel Must Reduce Gaza to Rubble
RightJew ,   New York, NY   (02.01.11)
Its time for Jews to abandon suicidal liberalism and do what's necessary to survive, with Hashem's help. If Islamo-Nazis in Gaza are targeting the Jewish civilian populations in Israel, Israel must launch devastating retaliation against Arab civilians in Gaza. There is absolutely nothing immoral or contrary to Jewish law in such a response. Nazi Germany did not surrender until the country was bombed back to the stone age by the US and Britain. When Gaza is completely reduced to rubble, like Nazi Germany was in 1945, then the Islamic missiles will stop hitting Israel.
30. #29; That's exactly what Hamas wants
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (02.01.11)
While there is a possibility that is what may happen, now is the wrong time to discuss it, or do anything about it.
