1. Bibi's overtures
david kross ,   columbia (md), USA   (02.05.11)
Erekat sounds exactly like George Soros: Israel is always the problem. What Erekat really wants is to skirt the unpleasant process of negotiations and get his state without compromising. That is not going to happen. If the countries of South America think there really is a Palestinian state just because they say there is, let them come to Jerusalem to see that, in fact, there is only one state it that part of the world: Israel.
2. PA has no legitimacy, it lost the election
Golan ,   Modiin   (02.05.11)
so why "boost" them?
3. Typical rigid, linear thinking from PA's Erekat and his
Down with the ,   "Party of No", USA   (02.05.11)
Party of "Lo."
4. Economical Aid
Dave ,   Bs.Aires-Argentina   (02.05.11)
Is the Government of Israel totally naive? Do you all expect another answer from the Palis when Israel offers them aid? - Wether you offer them an improving to their weak economy, or war, they sure will choose WAR - Why? Because they HATE the Jewish people and the State of Israel- Only take a look in their Chart, they clearly states that their goal is the destruction of Israel and the killing of all the Jewish people (G-d forbid) They are teaching their children EVERY DAY regarding their goals. Never, Nunca, Jamais, Nie, никогда, Mai - will be peace between the Jews and the Palis, because the strong hatred that the latter feel against the Jewish People. The only language that they ( The Palis ) understand is the force of the weapons, and for them, stronger is better. When Israel is trying to defend their citizens against the Arab violence, all the world cries "War Crimes" . But when the Jews are attacked, the world is totally silent. Israel must apply the three "no's" -NO TO A FORCED PEACE -NO TO A PAL STATE -NO TO A ROCKET LAUNCHING PAD IN THE HEART OF ISRAEL. AM ISRAEL CHAI
5. so let me get this straight
Rob ,   NY   (02.05.11)
to Erekat's formula for confidence building is to give in to all Palestinian demands. Meanwhile the Palestinians refuse to recognize Israel and the right for it to be a Jewish state. And who is the obstructionist? Tough guys, take a look at the Al Jazeera papers and WAKE UP and stop believing your own PROPAGANDA!
6. Bibi has no mandate for concessions or retreats.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.05.11)
Bibi has no mandate to make Israeli concessions or retreats. It is a complete betrayal of what Likud stands for and what the vast majority of Israelis voted for. It's time Israel stopped tolerating this chicanery.
7. what a surprise
reality check ,   usa   (02.05.11)
the pali paers prove what a bunch erekats settlement talk is .. if bibi said the sun rises in the east these jerks would disagree and blame it on the setltlements
8. Around & Around we go
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.05.11)
Always back to the same talking points and the PA's constant demand that Israel make concession, while it makes none The fools had a state in '48, the refused it, attacked Israel & lost They're still crying over milk they spilled themselves
9. Gap to wide, with no common baseline
Bloodyscot ,   Dallas, Texas   (02.05.11)
There must be a common baseline as starting point for concessions but PA/Arab League wants 67 greenline, while Israel demands current Status Quo. Egypt could create a major problem for Israel by holding to fully to Camp David Accords, which call for removing all IDF soldiers from W. Bank and passing control to PA, with fully implement UNSC 242. Egypt could go direct to ICJ or ICC courts by claiming UNSC has already ruled on this and bypass a possible US veto. The Quartets actions could be another problem since they seem to favor using 67 greenline as baseline for talks, with US going along in public but in private closer to Israel's view.
10. 1.3 billion muslims VS a dz. corrupt leaders
jo   (02.05.11)
Equal = 1.3 billion stupid arabs who dream only of whores, paradise, killing and hashich. Their Masters have trained them well. Like Pavlov's dog, when their imam lifts his finger, the abject masses see only blood. Erekat is just another idiot on the scene. His " Israel is the driving force responsible resposible for the ills of the arab world " shows stupidity, incompetance, arrogance, deceit; just like his boss Abbas. Continuing to deal with Israel will lead to chaos, violence, extremism, a bloodbath (as long it is arabs, we have no objections,as they do a superb job among themselves). As usual. a well rehersed B.S.; the best they have to offer to the Vatican, the White house, Downing st, the Elysee Palace, the rest of the EU and now all the banana and peanut republics of S. America. They have nothing else to offer to civilization, except what they accuse Israel off, and a bunch of dictators, all billionares, plundering the wealth of arab nations, while their " beloved " brothers sleep in the streets, in cemeteries, slums, without supper. EVERY single one of their infamous leaders above is on the list ----ALL have their jets at the ready, loaded to the rafter with the treasury of their " beloved" country and ready to start a new life with the intelligentsia of the enlightened new world.
11. Same-o
Hmm. ,   Chicago   (02.05.11)
The usual games. If Erekat actually wanted peace, he would welcome anything that promotes prosperity, since that lays a foundation for political agreements.
12. #9 - Palestinians negated their part of the Camp David Accor
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (02.05.11)
If you actually read the Camp David Accords you will find that there are a number of details that require the Palestinians negotiate the solution in a joint setting. The Palestinians have refused to negotiate, replaced these clauses with Oslo, then refused to negotiate again. But maybe you are right, Israel could sit down with the Jordanians, Egyptians, and some "Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza or other Palestinians as mutually agreed" and negotiate a binding solution right under Hamas' nose. (Camp David Accords - Framework section A.1.b.) But then again - the Jordanian peace treaty negated part of this too: Two separate but related committees will be convened, one committee, consisting of representatives of the four parties which will negotiate and agree on the final status of the West Bank and Gaza, and its relationship with its neighbors, and the second committee, consisting of representatives of Israel and representatives of Jordan to be joined by the elected representatives of the inhabitants of the West Bank and Gaza, to negotiate the peace treaty between Israel and Jordan, taking into account the agreement reached in the final status of the West Bank and Gaza. (Camp David Accords - Framework section A.1.c.)
13. #8 Bloodyscot - Bloody Fool
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.05.11)
There was a common baseline, as agreed to at Rhodes in '49, which subsequently became known as the "Greenline" Which the Arabs violated by their constant attacks & wars against Israel In law, for a contract to be valid, BOTH sides must adhere to it, the Arabs haven't Case in point, at Oslo, Arafat agreed to remove the clause from the PLO Charter that called for the destruction of Israel IT'S STILL THERE, only a bloody fool would pretend that it wasn’t As I recall, Scotland was conquered by Jolly Olde England, you really should devote some your efforts in trying to liberate Scotland I'm certain you're hear od "BYOB", in this case let's just call it "MYOB" Return to the spaceship Enteprise, you can be useful when they ask you to "Beam me UP"
14. Erekat is nothing more than a suited mouthpiece
Lee ,   Manchester UK   (02.05.11)
for terrorism and the world knows it. I'd be interested to learn what the size of his cut is from 'aid' to these vipers? Erekat is LAUGHING in the faces at all us blind western countires by the likes of Erekats lies. Who are the fools?
15. Erekat can halt Pal attacks and recognize Jewish homeland
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (02.05.11)
Enough newspeak and phony propaganda from the Palestinians. Erekat should stop Palestinian procrastination and return immediately to the peace talks. The straw argument of "construction freeze" is just that - a phony excuse masking the Palestinians inability to sign a peace treaty. If the Pals want to build confidence, then they should stop shooting rockets and mortars at Israeli civilians, stop throwing rocks and molotov cocktails at Israeli windshields, stop shooting at Israelis and stop trying to stab us. Israeli taxpayers are tired of hearing Erekat bleat like a wounded sheep that we should recognize "Palestine" as the national homeland of the "Palestinian people" - while he refuses to recognize Israel as the national homeland of the Jewish people. The Palestinians have always shown that they spit in the face of international law - so Erekat should be ashamed and embarrassed that he even opens his mouth to call for a boycott of Israel by western nations. Enough Palestinian lies. If you are a true peace partner, then let the International Red Cross visit Gilad Shalit as demanded by international law. Oh? You can't? You mean you want us to sign a peace treaty with the Palestinian Authority that doesn't even control its own territory? Come on, Saeb. Stop whining about "international law" when you Palestinians are pure criminals.

17. The Question is Why Would Israel Do That
Mark from Georgia ,   USA   (02.05.11)
What is the PA offering in return, Nothing. This is the usual proposals by the PA and their ilk, they want everything but offer nothing. As most people know they refused the partition plan in 1947 and have been a movement of rejection-ism ever since. They can't offer peace because they don't speak for Hamas or many of the Hamas supporters. They ask for something that never existed in all of history, yet can provide no guarantees of anything in return. It's like making a car payment, but the dealership won't give you a car, only the payments. Then compound that ridiculous offer with insults and lies, in a cheap attempt to vilify Israel at the same time. The positive side of the equation, is the answer is easy, save it. The answer is no, and have a nice day. When your serious about peace, come to the table, otherwise shut up and go to your bedroom. The PA should remember they must sit down and negotiate, it simply doesn't matter what anyone else says, the deal must be between the parties involved. Israel and those who fully represent the Arabs in the disputed territories.
18. ONE WAY GESTURES GO NOWHERE JUST LIKE BEFORE, HERE'S WHY.
JEWISH DOCTOR ,   NYC USA   (02.06.11)
WHY BOTHER WITH MORE ISRAELI GESTURES? IT'S BEEN MADE PERFECTLY CLEAR THE ARABS WANT A...ONE... STATE SOLUTION AND BY THEIR SHEER NUMBERS, BLURR OUT ISRAEL IN TIME. NO OTHER CONCLUSION CAN BE PUT FORWARD, MEASURED BY THEIR BEHAVIOR
19. Erakat and Abbas are ineffective
Joseph ,   West Bank   (02.06.11)
Erakat and Abbas are ineffective weak leaders. Palestinians must take a queue from Egypt and Tunisia and throw them out so that strong leaders who will stand up to Israel may arise. The peace process is dead. Israelis do not want peace--they want to build settlements until they take over all the lands and drive the Palestinians out. Israel just pretends to seek negotiations in order to keep the international community off their backs while they expand and fortify their illegal settlements.
20. Mubarak out, Abbas/Erakat next
Rami   (02.06.11)
Down with these dictators and Israeli collaborators. The PA security forces collaborate fully with Israel against their own people. And what did the Palestinians get in return? More settlements, more walls, and continued occupation. It is time for Abbas to leave so a strong leader can take his place.
21. great gesture back to the palis
anon   (02.06.11)
it involves a finger
22. #9 Bloodyscot
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.06.11)
Some 'minor details' you "overlook": 1. The official version of UNSC 242 calls for the return of territories, NOT "all" territories. 2. Israel began implementation of Camp David Accords with areas A, B and C. Pals continued murder and terrorism so IDF had to go in to stop it. End of Camp David Accords; agreements cannot be implemented by one side and not the other. 3. In addition, if one agrees that a new "Palestinian" state is to be established within the '67 borders (actually the '48 armistice lines), 'how far within these borders' still has to be established.
23. Why give them anything?
Wise Saba ,   Eretz Yisrael   (02.06.11)
A Palestinian state already exists, it's called Jordan, let them all go home now. The last thing this area needs is another terrorist dictatorship to create more instability. Am Yisrael Chai V'Kayiam
24. to #9 camp david is anulled after oslo
ghostq   (02.06.11)
agreement, you see every new agreement anull it predessesor, in this case and after what the world saw as the pathetic policy of Carter I am sure people will agree with me that camp daivid document can easily use as toilet paper.
25. Dr. Erekat ,
Salma ,   Palestine   (02.06.11)
I wonder what you're waiting for? The Palestinian Authority has become a burden on our liberation project, either to resign or resign, no other choice.......Stop blaming other people and do something to save what can be saved.
26. #25 why condemn him?
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.06.11)
You are right that Fayyad, Erekat and Abbas are corrupt, but in the meantime you are winning. Netanyahu has totally neutralized the Zionist opposition. He paid any price to keep the pro-Arab Ehud Barak in power instead of adding Zionists to his government. Netanyahu has stopped Jewish building in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem while encouraging massive Arab building and land takeover, including building a new Arab city called Rawabi. Netanyahu is helping you build Dayton's army that is already a formidable foe for the IDF. Netanyahu continuously makes Israeli concessions without asking for anything in return. These concessions help your leaders build up the international image that Israel is illegitimate. You should be thanking Erekat for playing Netanyahu's game.
27. Typical Israeli side-stepping!
r cummings ,   uk   (02.06.11)
Everyone has told you that the Green Line border is the best Israel is going to get. No country in the world accepts Israel trying to take over Palestine or building illegal settlements designed to alter the racial demographics of the Occupied Territory. But still your right wing government of idealogues thinks it can con its way to colonising an Eretz Israel. Netanyahu's latest mini offerings are just hasbara and the PA is right to have no truck with Israel's little games. Time to get these settler scroungers back into Israel and start obeying international law and decisions, Netanyahu defying the UN over Palestine is horribly similar to Mussolini defying the League over Abysinnia, but hopefully the world has learned that there is nothing to be gained from giving in to puffed up little nationalists and colonisers with extremist ideological views.
28. Instead of series try serious gestures , stupid ,...

29. #28 Schizo
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (02.06.11)
Instead of your uusual half-witted saracasm, try making a useful suggestion The best way to to do that and show that you're serious, is get your sorry ass over here and do it in person
30. #27 r cummings
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.06.11)
There are a few 'minor' problems with your post. 1. Not "everyone" has told Israel what you would like to believe. The EU is only the latest that rightfully believes in negotiations, not ultimatums. 2. "No country in the world..." is also not correct. 3. Neither is your comparison. Abysinnia did not attack Italy. Italy attacked Abysinnia, as the Arab countries have attacked Israel...many times. 4. "Nationalists and colonizers"? Italians are not from Abysinnia. Jews are from what you now call "Palestine" and were there well before the invasion of the Arabs from Arabia.
